Abstract

This research aims to analyse the policy of the Minister of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology Regulation Number 12 of 2024 which establishes Merdeka Curriculum as the basic framework of national education, and identify the challenges of its implementation at various levels of education in Indonesia. The method used is a literature review with a descriptive qualitative approach, reviewing policy documents, scientific articles, and related research reports. The results of the analysis show that Merdeka Curriculum provides flexibility to education units and teachers in designing learning that is relevant to the needs of students and local conditions, and emphasises strengthening character through the Pancasila Student Profile. However, the implementation of this curriculum still faces significant challenges, such as limited facilities and infrastructure, human resource readiness, inequality of access in 3T areas, and the need for continuous training for teachers. The success of educational transformation through Merdeka Curriculum depends on the collaboration of all stakeholders and continuous efforts in capacity building, equitable distribution of facilities, and strengthening an inclusive and adaptive learning ecosystem.

Abstract

The development of digital technology demands a paradigm shift in education, particularly in preparing young people to master 21st-century skills such as critical thinking, creativity, collaboration, and digital literacy. This study aims to analyse the implementation of coding and artificial intelligence (AI) integration in primary school curricula as a strategy to improve these skills. The research method used is a literature review. The results indicate that the integration of coding and AI can strengthen both technical and soft skills among students, despite challenges such as infrastructure limitations and teacher readiness. This study recommends the development of age-appropriate learning materials, intensive teacher training, and equitable access to technology to ensure effective and sustainable integration. Thus, the integration of coding and AI in primary schools is a crucial investment in cultivating adaptive and competent generations in the digital age.

Abstract

This study analyses the differences in curriculum structure and teaching methods in Islamic Religious Education at public junior high schools, private Islamic junior high schools, and modern Islamic boarding schools, as well as their impact on students' understanding of Islamic concepts. Using a descriptive-comparative qualitative literature review approach, the study compares the national Merdeka Curriculum, which focuses on the fundamentals of faith and jurisprudence, with the expansive private model, which includes Arabic memorisation and Arabic language, as well as pesantren-based mastery learning using classical Islamic texts. Teaching methods varied from conventional es in public schools, student-centred through discussion-projects in private schools, to hybrid sorogan-bandongan in Islamic boarding schools. The results show a gradation of understanding, with state schools excelling in breadth but lacking in depth, private schools integrating cognitive and affective learning, and Islamic boarding schools dominating in higher-order thinking skills, supported by a positive correlation between curriculum intensity and concept retention. A hybridised curriculum is recommended to optimise holistic Islamic literacy.
