Abstract

This study examines how macroeconomic and bank-specific variables influence the profitability of Islamic Commercial Banks in Indonesia. Using qualitative-documentary analysis, the research integrates both internal performance metrics—such as capital adequacy, cost efficiency, and credit quality—and external macroeconomic indicators including GDP growth and inflation. Framed by the Resource-Based View and Financial Intermediation Theory, the study finds that profitability is most sustainable when internal capabilities are strategically aligned with macroeconomic stability. Inflation and GDP growth significantly impact bank earnings, while internal variables such as capital structure and operational efficiency remain critical performance drivers. The findings reveal that profitability is a dynamic outcome of both internal governance and environmental conditions. This research advances existing literature by providing a holistic framework for assessing Islamic bank performance and offers practical implications for policymakers and bank managers seeking to improve financial resilience within a sharia-compliant context.

Abstract

The Banking Industry has a very important role in economic development in a country. Indonesia, which is the largest Muslim country in the world, certainly has excellent prospects for the development of the Sharia Banking Industry in the future. Therefore, the development of Sharia banks has slowed in recent years and the profitability of Sharia banks is also still below the ideal value. This study aims to determine the internal factors and external factors that influence the profitability of Sharia Commercial Banks from January 2012 to August 2017. The variables used in this study are ROA, Inflation, NPF, and OEOR. The data used is the aggregate data of all Sharia Commercial Banks registered at Bank Indonesia. Measurement of Statistical Descriptions, F-test, t-test, Correlation Coefficient, Determination Coefficient and Multiple Linear Regression using IBM SPSS 21 software. The results showed that there were significant negative effects of the variable BI rate, NPF, and OEOR while the Inflation variable showed a negative but insignificant effect. Overall the above variables affect ROA by 87.7% while 12.3% is likely to be influenced by other factors.

Abstract

This qualitative interpretative research aims at scientifically testing the signs and symbols of sharia economic values in the equitable distribution of justice in the Quran based on the semiotic discourse of the Quran and describes their significance in the economic sphere. Economic values and principles are presented in the Quran in Surah Al-Baqarah verse 261, which explains the meaning of charity with its seven-hundred-fold reward for whoever gives charity. Semiotics, as one approach to the Quran study, attempts to construct the meaning of language with a sign system. The marking interpretation method is to synergize between the mark and the marker, which leads to a new representation of the meaning. Based on semiotic reading, socio-economic justice may be realized through several ways: Eliminating monopolies; Guaranteeing all parties’ rights and opportunities for active participation in the economic processes, including production, distribution, circulation and consumption; Ensuring fulfillment of the basic needs of every community member; and conducting socio-economic security assurance mandate for survival and assisting the weak.

Abstract

Introduction: Employee retention is a critical factor in maintaining human resource stability within organizations. Leadership style and work stress are two major factors that influence employees’ decisions to remain in a company. Effective leadership enhances employee motivation and commitment, whereas excessive work stress tends to reduce employee retention levels. Method: This study employed a quantitative approach using a survey method. Data were collected through questionnaires distributed to employees of Serba Ada Mulia Godean Store. Multiple linear regression analysis was conducted, supported by validity, reliability, and classical assumption tests (normality, linearity, multicollinearity, and heteroscedasticity) to ensure model accuracy and consistency. Results: The results of the validity and reliability tests confirmed that all questionnaire items were valid and reliable. The multiple regression analysis showed an Adjusted R-Square value of 0.908, indicating that 90.8% of employee retention variation is explained by leadership style and work stress. The t-test revealed that leadership style has a significant positive effect on employee retention (p < 0.05), while work stress has a significant negative effect (p < 0.05). Discussion: The findings demonstrate that supportive and effective leadership increases employee retention through enhanced job satisfaction and engagement, while high work stress levels negatively affect employee loyalty and organizational commitment. Therefore, companies should promote supportive leadership practices and implement effective stress management strategies to maintain a stable and productive workforce.
