Abstract

Abstract

Background: A smartphone is a communication tool designed to be used for  a variety of applications. Excessive usage of smartphones can cause addiction, especially in adolescents. Because of this, adolescents can experience emotional-mental disorders caused by smartphone addiction. Objective: This study aimed to examine the relationship between smartphone addiction and emotional-mental disorders. Methods: This study had a quantitative research using a cross sectional study design. Smartphone addiction was  measured using the Smartphone Addiction Scale-Short Version (SAS-SV) instrument, while mental emotional disorder was measured using the Self Reporting Questionnaire (SRQ) instrument. The sample size of this study was 103 adolescents. Samples were taken by simple random sampling and analyzed by chi-square.Results: The results of this study show that there is a relationship between smartphone addiction and emotional and mental disorders in adolescents with p-value 0.02.Conclusion: More support is needed from various parties to prevent adolescents from experiencing smartphone addictionand subsequently experiencing mental and emotional disorders.

Abstract

Background: Hypertension causes various health problems worldwide, including in Indonesia. High blood pressure that occurs in productive age and unmanaged properly can increase various risks of disease which amya lead to health burden nationally and globally.  . Currently, the lifestyle of the productive age group contributes to obesity and hypertension, amplifying the risk factors for increased Cardiovascular Disease (CVD).Objective: This study aimed to analyze the relationship between obesity indicators and blood pressure in the productive age group. Methods:  A survey was conducted at a total of  150 respondents aged 25-64 years who had jobs, had no impaired physical mobility, and had no pregnancy. . Measurements included Systolic and Diastolic Blood Pressure, Body Mass Index (BMI), waist circumference, Waist to Height Ratio (WHtR), and Waist to Hip Ratio (WHR). The data was analyzed using the Pearson correlation test. Results: The majority of the respondents were male, aged 30-39 and 40-49 years, normal range of BMI and waist circumference, but WHR and WHtR on high risk. More than half of the total respondents in the productive age group had blood pressure in the normal range. There was a strongest positive correlation between waist circumference with SBP and BMI with DBP.Conclusion: Individuals in the productive age group with higher waist circumference and BMI are more prone to elevated blood pressure. Regular health screening and lifestyle change intervention are crucial to prevent hypertension in the productive age group.

Abstract

Introduction: Clinical decision-making is a fundamental competency for post-baccalaureate nursing students to ensure patient safety and quality care in a clinical setting. However, the effectiveness of instructional strategies applied in the professional education stage remains inconclusive. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of adaptive learning and mind mapping in improving clinical decision-making ability among post-baccalaureate nursing students. Method:  A quasi-experimental study with a two-group pretest–posttest design was conducted involving 46 post-baccalaureate nursing students at a nursing education institution. Participants were assigned to either an adaptive learning group or a mind-mapping group, non-randomly. Clinical decision-making ability was measured before and after the intervention using the Nurse Decision Making Instrument–Revised 2014 (NDMI-R 2014). Data was then analyzed using N-Gain analysis and paired t-tests. Most participants demonstrated an intuitive level of clinical decision-making at baseline.    Results: The results showed no statistically significant differences in clinical decision-making scores before and after the intervention in either group. N-Gain analysis indicated low to ineffective improvement, suggesting a ceiling effect due to relatively high baseline competence. Although the adaptive learning group exhibited a slightly greater increase in descriptive measures than the mind-mapping group, the difference was not statistically significant. Conclusion: These findings indicate that adaptive learning and mind mapping did not produce significant improvements in clinical decision-making ability among post-baccalaureate nursing students. The results suggest that both strategies may be more appropriate as preparatory learning approaches during undergraduate education, while clinical decision-making development at the post-baccalaureate nursing level should prioritize authentic clinical experience and supervision.
