Abstract

The limited availability of fossil fuels and their environmental impacts have encouraged the development of more environmentally friendly alternative energy sources. One of the methods of renewable energy is to utilize seawater and sea sand. This research aims to analyze seawater and sea sand in generating electrical energy. Source of seawater and sea sand from Tongachi Beach Bangka Belitung Indonesia. The research method was mixing seawater and sea sand with a ratio of 100:0%, 70:30%, 50:50%, 30:70%, dan 0:100%.  Measure the seawater according to the percentage 100%, 70%, 50%, 30% and 0%. Then Weigh the sea sand according to the percentage ratio 0%, 30%, 50%, 70% and 100%.  Add the seawater and sea sand to the mixing container according to the weighed ratio. The electrical energy generated is determined by observing the current flow and power are seen on the multimeter. The results showed that the composition ratio of 100:0 % seawater and sea with a voltage of 0.67 V, an electrical current of 0.2 mA and a power of 0.134 watts. It has of the analysis of the composition of seawater and sea sand can potentially be used as a source of electrical energy.

Abstract

Coconut pulps are solid waste from coconut processing that has had its coconut milk extracted, with a remaining oil content of around 12.2–15.9%. The processing of coconut pulp is not yet optimal, and this waste has the potential to be utilized as renewable energy in the form of biodiesel. Biodiesel is produced through an in-situ transesterification process assisted by microwave energy. This study aims to identify the potential environmental impacts of biodiesel production from coconut pulp as fuel. A Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) was conducted using the cradle-to-gate approach with the SimaPro ver. 9.4.0.3 data processing application and a database similar to the eco-invent database. The environmental impact assessment was analyzed using the EF 3.0 Method (adapted) V1.03 / EF 3.0 normalization and weighting set. The results show that among the stages of the biodiesel production process, the transportation of raw materials and supporting materials has the greatest impact on climate change compared to other stages. The transportation stage contributed 78.19 kg CO₂-eq out of a total of 204.35 kg CO₂-eq in the climate change category and dominated energy resource use at 1108.14 MJ out of a total of 1742.17 MJ. In addition, the preparation stage also contributed significantly to climate change, with emissions reaching 56.21 kg CO₂-eq. The large contribution from the transportation stage was mainly caused by exhaust gas emissions from vehicles used to transport raw materials and supporting materials. Based on the LCA results, environmental performance improvements or continuous improvements that can be implemented include optimizing logistics, regulating fuel use, selecting the nearest sources of raw materials, and improving energy efficiency during the preparation stage to support more sustainable biodiesel production from coconut pulp.

Abstract

Solar energy can be converted into electricity using photovoltaic systems as a strategic measure to achieve the renewable energy mix targets outlined in the National Energy Policy. Photovoltaic Rooftop (PV Rooftop) systems integrated with Building Integrated Photovoltaics (BIPV) present a viable alternative. PV Rooftop technology is currently trending, as evidenced by its increasing adoption in both industrial and residential sectors, supported by the global decline in solar panel prices. However, from an architectural perspective, silicon-based PV panels can reduce the aesthetic appeal of buildings. An emerging solution promoted by architects worldwide is the implementation of semi-transparent, dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSC), which are sensitive to colorants. In addition to their functional properties, DSSCs offer high aesthetic value due to the pigments used. Urban areas hold significant potential for the development of off-grid DSSC photovoltaic systems installed on rooftops and building facades. This study focuses on the analysis of off-grid DSSC PV systems for a type 42 residential house in Palembang City. The research employs a quantitative approach, using literature review and field measurements, followed by technical calculations. The article details the components required for designing an off-grid DSSC photovoltaic system capable of supplying all household electrical loads.
