Abstract

Background. Religious diversity in contemporary societies, particularly in Indonesia, presents challenges related to intolerance, exclusivist religious interpretations, and identity-based tensions among students. Islamic educational institutions play a strategic role in addressing these challenges by internalizing Qur’anic values that promote tolerance and religious moderation. Purpose. This study aims to explore how Qur’anic values of tolerance derived from Al-Kafirun verse 6 and Al-Baqarah verse 256 are internalized in shaping students’ religious moderation at SMK Muhammadiyah Berau. Method. This research employed a qualitative case study design. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, classroom and school observations, and document analysis involving Islamic education teachers, school leaders, and students. The data were analysed using an interactive qualitative model consisting of data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Results. The findings reveal that the internalization of Qur’anic tolerance operates through the integration of institutional policies, pedagogical practices, and students’ lived experiences. Qur’anic values are embedded in school regulations, dialogical teaching approaches, character education programs, and daily social interactions. Supporting factors include strong school leadership, inclusive school culture, and teacher role modeling, while challenges arise from external influences such as social media and diverse family backgrounds. Conclusion. The study demonstrates that consistent and inclusive internalization of Qur’anic teachings effectively fosters students’ religious moderation without weakening Islamic identity. These findings highlight the importance of integrating Qur’anic values into school culture and pedagogy as a strategic approach to promoting social harmony in pluralistic educational contexts.

Abstract

Background. Student attention spans are increasingly challenged in digital learning environments characterized by high levels of distraction. Microlearning, with its short and focused instructional units, has been proposed as a pedagogical strategy to address issues of micro-attention and cognitive overload. Despite its popularity, limited empirical evidence exists regarding the effectiveness of short-form educational media in sustaining student focus. Purpose. This study aimed to examine the role of microlearning strategies in enhancing student attention within high-distractibility learning contexts. Specifically, it investigated how different formats of short-form educational media influence learners’ focus, perceived engagement, and knowledge retention. Method. A mixed-method design was employed involving 250 undergraduate students across three Indonesian universities. Participants engaged with microlearning modules delivered through video, infographic, and interactive quiz formats. Quantitative data were collected using attention and retention tests, while qualitative insights were gathered through focus group discussions. Results. Findings revealed that students exposed to short-form interactive quizzes demonstrated significantly higher attention and retention scores compared to those using static infographics or video-based modules. Furthermore, qualitative data indicated that students valued the brevity and interactivity of microlearning content, particularly in environments where distractions were prevalent. Conclusion. This study highlights the potential of microlearning as a strategy for addressing micro-attention challenges in digital classrooms. By leveraging short-form, interactive educational media, educators can design more engaging and cognitively sustainable learning experiences. The results provide practical implications for instructional design in technology-rich and high-distractibility learning environments.

Abstract

Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) investing has gained substantial prominence as investors increasingly integrate non-financial criteria into capital allocation decisions. This shift reflects growing concerns about climate change, social responsibility, and corporate governance failures, alongside the belief that ESG-oriented firms may exhibit superior long-term performance. Despite widespread adoption, debate persists regarding the extent to which ESG investing influences corporate behavior and whether it delivers measurable financial benefits. This study aims to examine the impact of ESG investing on corporate behavior and financial performance, focusing on how ESG pressures shape strategic decision-making, risk management, and operational practices, as well as their implications for firm profitability and market valuation. The research seeks to clarify whether ESG integration functions primarily as a value-creation mechanism or as a reputational and compliance-driven strategy. The study employs a qualitative analytical approach based on secondary data, including peer-reviewed journal articles, corporate sustainability reports, financial performance indicators, and global ESG rating databases. The findings indicate that ESG investing encourages greater transparency, improved governance practices, and more sustainable operational strategies. The study concludes that ESG investing acts as a catalyst for responsible corporate behavior while offering potential financial advantages when supported by credible metrics, regulatory clarity, and strategic integration.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of blockchain technology has given rise to Decentralized Finance (DeFi), a financial ecosystem that operates without traditional intermediaries and challenges the foundational structures of conventional banking. DeFi platforms enable peer-to-peer financial services through smart contracts, offering increased transparency, accessibility, and efficiency. This study aims to analyze the potential of DeFi to disrupt traditional banking models by examining its core mechanisms, value propositions, and structural differences from centralized financial institutions. The research seeks to assess both the opportunities and challenges posed by DeFi in reshaping financial intermediation. A qualitative analytical approach was employed, drawing on an integrative review of peer-reviewed literature, industry reports, and documented DeFi case examples. Data were analyzed through thematic synthesis to compare DeFi functionalities with traditional banking operations, focusing on governance, risk management, and financial inclusion. The findings indicate that DeFi introduces innovative financial models that reduce transaction costs, expand access to financial services, and enhance operational transparency. The study concludes that DeFi represents a transformative yet complementary force rather than a complete replacement for traditional banking. Its future impact will depend on regulatory adaptation, technological maturity, and institutional integration.

Abstract

The shift toward hybrid education models has redefined parental roles in early childhood learning, particularly in literacy and numeracy development. This study investigates the function of parents as co-facilitators within a hybrid learning program designed for children aged 4–6 years in Indonesian preschools. The research responds to the growing need for parental engagement in digital-assisted instruction, especially following the pandemic’s acceleration of home-based learning. The main objective is to evaluate how structured parental involvement influences children’s literacy and numeracy outcomes when supported by hybrid pedagogical strategies. A mixed-method design was employed, combining quantitative assessment of 120 children’s progress across three learning cycles with qualitative interviews involving 40 parents and 10 teachers. Instruments included performance rubrics for literacy and numeracy, digital activity logs, and parent reflection journals. The data revealed that children whose parents acted as co-facilitators demonstrated a 28% higher improvement in early literacy and a 24% increase in numeracy mastery compared to peers with minimal parental support. Qualitative findings underscored the importance of parental scaffolding, consistency in learning routines, and emotional engagement as critical mediators of learning success. The study concludes that hybrid learning programs in early childhood education are most effective when parents are equipped and empowered to function as co-facilitators rather than passive observers. The integration of family-centered design principles within digital learning ecosystems enhances not only academic performance but also socio-emotional resilience and motivation among young learners.

Abstract

Background. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) play a pivotal role in the realm of law enforcement and human rights. In recent decades, their influence has expanded significantly, especially in areas where government action is either insufficient or absent. NGOs often bridge gaps in legal and human rights protection by advocating for vulnerable populations, monitoring abuses, and holding governments accountable. Objective. This study aims to evaluate the role of NGOs in law enforcement and human rights, with a particular focus on their contributions to legal reforms, advocacy for victims, and international collaborations. The research explores how NGOs influence law enforcement mechanisms and contribute to the advancement of human rights protections across different regions. Method. A qualitative research design was employed, utilizing case studies, interviews with NGO leaders, legal experts, and human rights advocates, and document analysis of reports and legal frameworks where NGOs have had significant influence. Results. The study found that NGOs significantly impact human rights law enforcement, especially in regions with weak legal frameworks. They provide essential resources for victims, influence policy changes, and sometimes fill gaps left by state institutions. However, challenges such as limited funding and political resistance affect their effectiveness. Conclusion. NGOs are indispensable in promoting human rights and enforcing laws in under-served regions. Their role should be enhanced through stronger partnerships with governments and international organizations.

Abstract

Background. Corporate criminal liability for environmental damage represents a growing area of concern in legal discourse, especially as industrial expansion continues to exert profound ecological and social consequences. The current legal framework in Indonesia, though progressive in recognizing corporate accountability under Law No. 32 of 2009 on Environmental Protection and Management, remains inconsistent in enforcement and interpretation. Purpose. The study aims to analyze the juridical construction of corporate criminal liability for environmental harm by examining recent judicial decisions and identifying normative challenges that hinder effective application. Method. The research employs a qualitative juridical-normative approach, focusing on statutory interpretation, court rulings, and doctrinal analysis, supported by case studies involving corporate environmental violations between 2018 and 2023 Results. The findings reveal that enforcement inconsistencies stem from vague statutory definitions, limited institutional coordination, and judicial reluctance to impose criminal sanctions on corporate entities. The analysis also highlights the absence of clear parameters for attributing mens rea and corporate culpability within collective decision-making structures.   Conclusion. The study concludes that achieving environmental justice requires reforming Indonesia’s legal doctrine through clearer legislative standards, stronger prosecutorial mechanisms, and incorporation of restorative justice principles. This transformation is essential for aligning environmental governance with sustainable development and corporate accountability.
