Abstract

Basic immunization completeness is an effective measure to prevent potentially fatal diseases in infants. However, the coverage of complete basic immunization in Aceh in 2022 remained low at 38.4%, far below the government target of 84.2%. This study aimed to analyze factors associated with the completeness of basic immunization among infants in the working area of Ladang Tuha Health Center, South Aceh. This study employed a descriptive analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The study population consisted of all mothers with infants aged 12–24 months, totaling 107 individuals. A sample of 36 respondents was selected using random sampling. Data were collected through questionnaires and interviews from May 22 to May 29, 2025. Data analysis was performed using the Chi-square test with a 95% significance level. The univariate analysis showed that 41.7% of infants had received complete basic immunization, while 58.3% had not. Most mothers had poor knowledge (55.6%), close access to health services (97.2%), low family support (58.3%), and less supportive social environments (69.4%). Bivariate analysis revealed significant associations between immunization completeness and maternal knowledge, family support, and social environment. However, access to health services was not significantly associated with basic immunization completeness. Routine health education, family involvement, and strengthening immunization programs are needed to improve basic immunization coverage.

Abstract

Anemia among adolescent girls is a public health concern that can affect academic performance, physical fitness, and reproductive health. Several factors are associated with anemia, including dietary patterns, physical activity, sleep quality, level of knowledge, and adherence to iron (Fe) tablet consumption. This study aimed to examine the relationship between these factors and the incidence of anemia among adolescent girls at SMPN 1 Baitussalam, Aceh Besar, in 2025. This study employed a cross-sectional design with a sample of 38 respondents selected using purposive sampling based on inclusion criteria. Primary data were collected using the Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ), Adolescent Physical Activity Recall Questionnaire (APARQ), Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index (PSQI), a knowledge questionnaire, and a questionnaire on Fe tablet consumption. Data were analyzed using Fisher’s exact test with a significance level of 0.05. The results showed significant associations between dietary patterns, sleep quality, knowledge, and Fe tablet consumption with the incidence of anemia. In contrast, physical activity was not significantly associated with anemia. In conclusion, dietary patterns, sleep quality, knowledge, and adherence to Fe tablet consumption play important roles in preventing anemia among adolescent girls. Therefore, improving nutrition education, enhancing sleep quality, and strengthening Fe supplementation programs are recommended to reduce anemia prevalence.

Abstract

The hospital work environment, particularly the Emergency Department (ER) and the Sanitation Waste Management Department (IPLS), has various potential hazards that can threaten the safety of staff. This study aims to identify potential hazards, assess risk levels, and determine occupational risk controls using the HIRADC method at Meuraxa Regional General Hospital. This quantitative study with a descriptive observational approach used a facility observation checklist and semi-structured interviews with staff. Data collection was conducted from June 1–16, 2025, through observation, documentation, and interviews. Risk analysis was based on likelihood and severity, then classified into low, medium, and high risks. The results showed a higher risk of infectious diseases among ER staff (57.1%) compared to ER staff (28.6%). In the ER, moderate–high risks were found in unfastened oxygen cylinders, dusty defibrillators, dirty suction pumps and HFNCs, and portable X-rays without radiation protection. Dominant risks included needlesticks, infection exposure, ampule injuries, limited PPE, noise, aggressive patients, and confined spaces. At the IPLS, high risks are found in the electrical panels and water pumps, and moderate risks are found in the filters and storage areas. The HIRADC method is considered effective and needs to be supported by strengthened controls, OHS training, and strict SOPs.

Abstract

Ulee Lheue Port is a major port in Banda Aceh with high human activity, potentially posing environmental health risks if clean water quality and sanitation are not properly managed. The port serves not only as a transit point but also as a public space with intensive interaction between workers and service users. This study aims to assess clean water quality based on physical and chemical parameters, water availability, environmental conditions, and the sanitation adequacy of public facilities. This study used an observational method with a descriptive design. Data collection was conducted through direct observation, water quality measurements, and environmental sanitation and hygiene assessments. Samples were taken at several strategic points: the right lobby restroom, the left lobby restroom, the canteen restroom, and the prayer room. Parameters analyzed included physical aspects (odor, taste, color, turbidity), chemical aspects (pH), clean water availability, fly density, and the sanitation adequacy of public facilities. The results showed that the physical and chemical quality of the water generally met quality standards, with turbidity ranging from 0.10 to 0.55 NTU and a pH of 7, well within the standard range of 6.5 to 8.5. However, all samples did not meet taste standards, as they were identified as bitter and sweet. Clean water availability reached 100%, sourced from drilled wells. The highest fly densities were found in canteens and polling stations (TPS). It was concluded that water quality was relatively good, but sanitation in public facilities remained at risk, necessitating continuous improvement in vector management and control.
