Abstract

The myth of Kramat Bedil is a local genius of the Kedotan Village community who has a surreal vision. The creation of a surreal dramatic text based on the myth of Kramat Bedil is an effort to process the cultural wealth of Kedotan Village into a drama that can meet global aesthetic needs. This research is an ethnodramaturgical research oriented towards processing cultural products. The data collection techniques used consist of interviews, observations and literature studies. The data testing technique used is the source triangulation technique. The data analysis techniques used are data reduction techniques, data presentation techniques and conclusion drawing techniques. The drama writing technique used is the writing mechanism of Lajos Agri. The results achieved from this study are surrealistic dramatic texts with a dramatic vision of "subconscious chaos". The drama writing style used is a combination of poetic and realistic styles. Conflict is formulated through subconscious chaos as a symptom of psychological degradation in a gloomy and restless atmosphere. The writing of this surreal dramatic text is an effort to utilize local genius into a dramatic text that is able to reach global aesthetics. This surreal dramatic text based on the Kramat Bedil myth is entitled "La Dalu: Dark Terror in the Circle of Anxiety".

Abstract

This study aims to reveal the meaning of the lyrics and their relationship with the melodic structure of Buka Langse as the opening segment in the traditional theater performance Abdul Muluk. The research employs a qualitative approach using a descriptive-analytical method through observation, interviews, and documentation study. The findings show that each verse of the Buka Langse lyrics carries both denotative and connotative meanings that reflect the religious, social, and moral values of the Malay Jambi community. The greetings, introduction of the play, and expressions of apology within the lyrics represent the interaction between performers and the audience. In addition to serving as a marker of the performance’s commencement and a medium for transmitting spiritual values, the lyrics also represent the cultural identity of the Sembubuk community, positioning this traditional theater as both an expressive art form and a means of preserving cultural heritage.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mentransformasikan narasi lisan legenda Teluk Wang Sakti ke dalam karya tari teatrikal berjudul "Lambaian Kain Beruji". Masalah utama penelitian ini adalah adanya kesenjangan antara kekayaan sastra lisan Merangin dengan upaya visualisasi karakter pahlawan perempuan yang seringkali terjebak dalam stigma kelembutan satu dimensi. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah pendekatan penciptaan karya seni melalui tahap eksplorasi, improvisasi, evaluasi, dan komposisi dengan memanfaatkan motif silat Tari Kadam sebagai basis gerak utama. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan properti kain ceruti secara simbolis dapat merepresentasikan dualitas karakter Putri Ratih Lailo Beruji yang memiliki sisi lembut sekaligus tangguh dalam menghadapi konflik. Kesimpulan penelitian menegaskan bahwa integrasi antara teknik silat tradisi dan dekonstruksi properti mampu menciptakan model koreografi naratif yang inovatif. Melalui pengolahan struktur dramatik kerucut tunggal, karya ini berhasil menghidupkan kembali identitas budaya lokal Merangin serta melestarikan motif gerak tradisi melalui media seni pertunjukan modern yang edukatif bagi masyarakat luas.
