Abstract

This study aims to analyze the effect of the Reading Aloud method on the reading comprehension ability of fourth-grade students at Advent Victory Elementary School in Sorong. The background of this research is the low ability of students to understand the content of reading passages, even tho they are technically able to read. The research approach uses a quantitative method with a One Group Pretest-Posttest Design, involving 15 students as the sample. The research instrument was a reading comprehension test administered before and after the implementation of the Reading Aloud method. The results of the paired sample t-test showed a calculated t-value of 9.68 > t-table 2.145 with a significance value of 0.000 < 0.05. This result indicates that the implementation of the Reading Aloud method significantly impacts the improvement of students' reading comprehension skills. This research confirms that Reading Aloud is an effective strategy for improving literacy and reading interest in elementary school students.

Abstract

Interest in learning is a feeling of liking or interest in something or an activity without anyone telling you to. Power Point media was chosen because in learning it is considered to be able to provide learning in a different way, watching, listening, showing examples in the form of pictures with a larger display, involving students' thinking skills and absorption capacity in finding the knowledge being studied. The aim of this research is: to determine the effect of learning using PowerPoint on interest in learning science in class V of YPPK Santa Maria Kukding Elementary School. The type of research carried out in this research is quantitative research. The design used in this research is Ex Post Facto Design with a quantitative approach. The independent variable in this research is Power Point media (X), the related variable in this research is students' learning interest in science content (Y). This research was carried out at YPPK Santa Maria Kukding Elementary School, Bintang Mountains Regency, Papua Mountains Province. The population in this study was all 30 grade V students of YPPK Santa Maria Kukding Elementary School, Bintang Mountains Regency for the 2023/2024 academic year. Hypothesis testing in this study used the t test (one simple T-test). Based on the results of data analysis, namely the value tcount> ttable (5.242> 1,734), with a significance level of 0.05, namely (0.000 < 0.05), the hypothesis is accepted, meaning it can be concluded that there is an influence of the use of power point media on students' interest in learning. Abstract

Reading comprehension skills among elementary school students remain a significant challenge, especially in regions with limited technological resources such as Sorong Regency. This study aims to analyze the effectiveness of story map media in enhancing fiction story comprehension among sixth-grade students at SDN 13 Aimas. The method employed is descriptive qualitative research with data collection techniques including observation, reading comprehension tests, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted interactively using the Miles, Huberman, and Saldana model. Findings indicate that the use of story map media significantly aids students in understanding story elements literally and inferentially, although critical comprehension of moral messages still requires additional guidance. These results reinforce reading learning theories emphasizing the role of visual media in supporting meaning construction. In conclusion, story map media is an effective and contextual instructional strategy to improve reading literacy in elementary schools, particularly in technology-limited areas. Future research is recommended to develop digital story maps and expand subject coverage for broader generalization.

Abstract

Learning at school does not seem to be able to overcome learning difficulties at school, as well as reading difficulties that occur to students at SD N 03 Makbon, Sorong Regency, as many as 17 people have not been able to read fluently. Initial observations show that the approach method used by educators is less effective. The purpose of this study is to find out the learning style of students. Using a qualitative descriptive approach, with 17 respondents, and observation data collection methods as well as interviews. The results of the study show that the most prominent learning style used by students is the visual learning style. This is because students prefer to learn by watching their teachers explain in front of the class

Abstract

This research aims to determine whether or not there is a relationship between discipline and student learning outcomes in Civics subjects in class IV SD Inpres 51 Sorong Regency. Meanwhile, the theoretical benefit of this research is that it proves that there is a relationship between discipline and student learning outcomes in Civics subjects in class IV of SD Inpres 51, Sorong Regency. The research objects in this study were fourth grade students at SD Inpres 51 Sorong Regency. Data collection techniques use questionnaires and tests. The validity test of the instrument uses the Pearson product moment (r) correlation formula and the reliability test uses the Spearman Brown formula. In the results of the regression analysis, several data tests were carried out, namely: normality test, linearity test, and regression equation. Testing the research hypothesis uses a simple regression formula and the significance of simple regression and the t test. The results obtained based on the regression equation analysis test are the X value for Discipline of (29.714) and the Y value for learning outcomes of (0.501) with a Sig. count = 0.329 > 0.05. The regression coefficient figure is 0.501, this figure means that for every 1% increase in the level of discipline (X), student learning outcomes (Y) will increase by 0.501. Because the regression coefficient value is minus (+), it can be concluded that there is a relationship between discipline (X) and learning outcomes (Y), so the regression equation is Y = 29.714 + 0.501. This means that the Ha hypothesis is accepted, it can be concluded that there is a relationship between discipline and the learning outcomes of Class IV students in Civics subjects at SD Inpres 51, Sorong Regency.
