Abstract

This research is motivated by the increasing demand for quality madrasa education and the need for leadership from madrasa principals capable of ensuring comprehensive quality in accordance with the eight National Education Standards (SNP). The purpose of this study is to describe the strategies of madrasa principals as leaders in improving educational quality at the Singkawang State Elementary Madrasah (MIN) based on the eight SNP framework. The study employed a descriptive qualitative approach. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, direct observation of learning activities and madrasa management, and documentation studies of programs, learning materials, and other supporting documents. Research informants included the madrasa principal, the vice-curriculum supervisor, teachers, and parents. Data analysis was conducted through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing, with validity checked using source and technique triangulation. The results indicate that quality improvement is carried out systematically and is interconnected across standards. In the graduate competency standards, madrasa principals target holistic outputs encompassing academic achievement, skills, piety, and morals. In the content standards, the implementation of the Independent Curriculum is monitored to ensure curriculum flexibility and effective differentiated learning. Process standards are strengthened through scheduled and spontaneous academic supervision, monitoring of teaching materials, utilization of technology, and active-collaborative learning. Quality improvement is also supported by improving the competency of educators and education personnel through ongoing training, performance assessments, learning communities, and coaching. For infrastructure, madrasas implement the Learning Environment and Facilities Preparation (PPLFB) program based on evaluation and improvement.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the impact of educational decentralisation on the implementation of democratic principles in schools, highlighting the interaction between the central government, local governments, and the community. The method used is a literature study through descriptive-critical analysis of academic literature, legislation, and previous research related to educational governance and school democratisation. The results of the study show that decentralisation provides a great opportunity to strengthen democracy in schools through increased participation of teachers, students, parents, and the community; transparency and accountability in management; and more collaborative school leadership. In this context, schools can function as laboratories of democracy that foster the values of participation, equality, tolerance, and respect for differences. However, this study also emphasises that decentralisation has the potential to create new problems, including overlapping authority between the central and regional governments, unequal capacity between regions, and community participation that is often formalistic in nature. Non-synergistic interactions between the central government, regional governments, and the community can lead to policy fragmentation and widen the gap in the practice of school democratisation. Thus, the democratisation of education in Indonesia can only be realised if decentralisation is supported by effective institutional coordination, capacity building in the regions, and the empowerment of the community as active partners in education.

Abstract

This study aims to analyse the effect of Google Scholar indexation on the career development and performance of lecturers in higher education. Indexation in Google Scholar allows lecturers' academic work to be more accessible and recognised by the global community, which has an impact on increasing the number of citations and h-index. These metrics are often used as indicators in performance evaluation, promotion, and incentivisation in the academic environment. In addition, the visibility gained through indexation increases opportunities for research collaboration with other researchers, both at the national and international levels. The results show that Google Scholar indexation plays an important role in supporting lecturers' career recognition and development, and contributes positively to improving their performance, both in research and teaching. Thus, Google Scholar indexation not only strengthens lecturers' academic careers, but also supports efforts to improve the quality of education in higher education.
