The low level of basic literacy and religious knowledge among migrant children who have not had adequate access to formal education or religious instruction is a major issue, particularly in the education sector. A lack of religious understanding means that migrant children are unable to read or even memorize short surahs from the Qur'an. This study aims to describe the process of literacy tutoring and teaching short surahs from the Quran to migrant children at PKBM PNF Malaysia using a service learning approach. Through this approach, researchers not only serve the community but also learn theory directly in the field. The methods used are observation, interviews, documentation, and questionnaires. The literacy tutoring program was conducted every Monday to Friday during the learning process, and the teaching of the short surah Al-Ashr was conducted after the learning process was completed and read upon returning home from school. The results of the tutoring showed an improvement in reading and memorization skills for the surah Al-Ashr, as well as an increase in the learning motivation of migrant children. These findings indicate that basic literacy mentoring through gradual memorization using the talaqqi and takrir methods is effective in developing the abilities of migrant children at PPWNI Klang, Selangor, Malaysia.
