Abstract

Indonesian language learning can not be separated from the methods of approach in the delivery of materials in this case one of the approaches used is contextual approach. The implementation of this approach must have inhibitory factors and supporting factors. The purpose of this research was to find out how the implementation of the application, inhibitory factors and supporting factors contextual approach in learning Indonesian text material exposition students Class X IPA 3 SMA 1 Negeri Kinali. This type of research is descriptive qualitative. Data collection by conducting observations of teachers, students and classes, interviews and documentation. The subjects of this study were Indonesian language teachers and X IPA 3 grade students. Data validity technique is triangulation of sources by means of data suppression obtained. Based on the results of research conducted by researchers to teachers and students of Grade X IPA 3 SMA 1 Negeri Kinali. That the implementation of contextual approach is implemented ideally this has been proven by the existence of research interviews to teachers, students and monitoring carried out when the teaching and learning process takes place and the supporting factors are enthusiastic learners in following the learning, as well as adequate facilities and pre-facilities and inhibitory factors are lack of time and lack of materials delivered.

Abstract

Text messaging is the quickest and easiest way to transmit information to anyone anytime and anywhere. This mode of communication is prevalently used even in the academic arena. In this paper, Mathematics teaching-learning has gone beyond the four walls of the classroom. Text messaging was utilized in the teaching-learning process. The teacher sent concepts and illustrative examples to the students via SMS. The students interacted with the teacher and learned a new lesson through this mode of communication. A quasi-experimental research design was utilized to establish the impact of teaching-learning mathematics beyond the four walls with the aid of Text messaging. The study revealed that the experimental group performed equally with the controlled group, which revealed that the teaching-learning mathematics beyond the fours wall with the aid of Text messaging is effective. It is because the experimental group did not undergo an actual classroom teaching-learning compared to the controlled group. Further results of the investigation are presented in this paper.

Abstract

This study aims to find out and describe the effects of school culture and professional competence on teacher performance in SD in Gugus 1 Dewi Sartika, East Baturaja District. This study was participated by 105 elementary school teachers in Gugus 1 Dewi Sartika, East Baturaja District who were taken through a saturated sampling technique where the entire population became the research sample as a whole. This type of research is quantitative descriptive with research survey methods and using questionnaires as data instruments. The results of this study found that (1) the sig.value of the school culture variable is 0.000 (<0.05) and the tobtained> ttable value (4.195> 1.659), then hypothesis 1 is accepted; (2) sig. The professional competency variable is 0.000 (<0.05) tobtained> ttable value (6.378> 1.659), then hypothesis 2 is accepted; (3). the sig value is 0.000 (<0.05) and the F value is 25.344 where the Ftable value is 2.67 (Fobtained> Ftable), so hypothesis 3  is accepted. Based on these results, it can be concluded that school culture and professional competence have an effect either partially or collectively on teacher performance.

Abstract

There were some reasons why indirect feedback can be durable, but it would kept only in mind of receiver and the feedback can just lost in certain time. In contrast, the indirect feedback, the thought and comment would be saved for every long time in memories. The data of this research consisted of two kinds. They were quantitative data (Writing Narrative text result) and the qualitative data (diary notes and observation sheet) which had been gathered within two cycles. Cycle I consisted of three meetings and cycle II consisted of two meetings and there was writing narrative test I in the first meeting to get the students’ basic level understanding that was pre test. So, totally there were six tests in five meetings in this research. From this research, there was an increased improvement in writing narrative text by using behaviourism approach, because this theory displays more attention from the teacher to the students.

Abstract

The main objective of this research is to develop learning e-modules in teaching English in the classroom as well as to produce and disseminate learning media. This e-module can be used on smartphones and this e-module uses a constructivist approach. The steps of the research model are defined, designed, developed, and disseminated/implemented. Participants in this study were teachers and students of MAN 3 Pontianak. The data collection technique in this study refers to the interview list guidelines, namely the questionnaire. Data collection tools are learning outcomes and questionnaire sheets. This study uses a qualitative descriptive approach for data analysis. The results showed that the design of the electronic module learning development in this study consisted of an analysis of curriculum and learning materials, an analysis of the characteristics of students and an analysis of student learning outcomes. The steps for developing an electronic module are by submitting a lot of learning materials and then being reviewed by experts according to their backgrounds as media experts and learning materials experts. The results of the expert review showed that the average score of the electronic module was 3.77 (range 1 - 4) and also the test given to students before applying it. The response of students after using the e-module showed 83.2% which means a positive response. This e-module can be applied to students because it has criteria such as self-instruction, stand alone, adaptive and user friendly. The learning outcomes of this research are that students are more active and construct themselves in learning descriptive texts in English class. The Minimum Completeness Criteria (KKM) in this study is 75 and the average is 79.04, which means that the use of e-modules in teaching descriptive texts is effective and can increase their scores.

Abstract

The use of Bangla abusive texts has been accelerated with the progressive use of social media. Through this platform, one can spread the hatred or negativity in a viral form. Plenty of research has been done on detecting abusive text in the English language. Bangla abusive text detection has not been done to a great extent. In this experimental study, we have applied three distinct approaches to a comprehensive dataset to obtain a better outcome. In the first study, a large dataset collected from Facebook and YouTube has been utilized to detect abusive texts. After extensive pre-processing and feature extraction, a set of consciously selected supervised machine learning classifiers i.e. multinomial Naïve Bayes (MNB), multi layer perceptron (MLP), support vector machine (SVM), decision tree, random forrest, stochastic gradient descent (SGD), ridge, perceptron and k-nearest neighbors (k-NN) has been applied to determine the best result. The second experiment is conducted by constructing a balanced dataset by random under sampling the majority class and finally, a Bengali stemmer is employed on the dataset and then the final experiment is conducted. In all three experiments, SVM with the full dataset obtained the highest accuracy of 88%.
