Abstract

This classroom action research aims to improve mathematics learning outcomes on the topic of currency fractions of 500, 1000, and 2000 for eighth grade students with mild intellectual disabilities by applying the role-playing method. The sample in this study consisted of 5 students with mild intellectual disabilities from Class VIII at SLB BC Nurasih Bintaro. The research employed a classroom action research method using the Kemmis and McTaggart model. Data were collected through tests, which were analyzed quantitatively, and non-test techniques (observation, interviews, and documentation), which were analyzed qualitatively. The results showed that the average mathematics learning outcome on the initial ability test was 64. In Cycle I, the students’ average score increased by 14 percent to 78. In Cycle II, the average score rose again to 85. These results indicate that the role-playing method can be considered an effective effort to improve mathematics learning outcomes on the topic of currency fractions for students with mild intellectual disabilities.

Abstract

The implementation of the Maternal Reflective Method (MRM) in Islamic Religious Education (PAI) for hearing-impaired children at SLB B Karnnamanohara addresses the need for effective strategies in overcoming barriers to teaching abstract religious concepts. A qualitative approach was applied, involving three PAI teachers and six students with moderate to severe hearing loss from grades VII–IX. Data were obtained through observation, in-depth interviews, and document analysis, and analyzed through data reduction, display, and conclusion drawing. Findings indicate that MRM encourages improved religious understanding and communication skills by combining heart-to-heart conversations, visualization media, and active parental involvement. Although positive outcomes emerged, it remains premature to claim the method’s effectiveness without quantitative validation. These results underscore the importance of integrating MRM with consistent parental collaboration to enhance the religious education experience for hearing-impaired learners

Abstract

Cerebral Palsy (CP) affects fine motor development, causing obstacles in daily activities. Existing assistive technologies are often not interactive or adaptive enough, hindering independent learning in children with CP. Fine motor issues in learning are also related to a lack of engaging exercise methods. This research develops assistive technology based on visual feedback and computer vision as an innovative solution to improve fine motor skills in children with CP. This technology utilizes motion sensors for real-time visual feedback, helping children understand and correct movements effectively. The Research and Development (R&D) method was employed, focusing on needs analysis, design, and prototype development using the ADDIE model. Validation results demonstrated the system's feasibility and effectiveness. Subject matter experts scored an average of 3.75, media experts 3.5, and education practitioners 3.67. Trials at SLB ACD Pertiwi Mojokerto showed increased motivation and engagement among children during exercises. This technology is expected to become an effective solution for motor and coordination exercises at school and at home, motivating children with CP to practice and develop their motor skills.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the contribution of school infrastructure in supporting accessibility and learning quality for students with physical disabilities at junior high school (SMP Negeri 24 Surakarta). A qualitative descriptive approach was used with data collection through interviews and observations of five key participants, namely teachers, school staff, special assistant teachers, and students with disabilities. The research findings indicate that the school already has some important facilities, such as ramps, accessible toilets, and classrooms that are easily accessible by wheelchair. However, limitations were still identified, particularly regarding access to upper floors and the absence of handrails on ramps. The school is gradually improving its facilities to create a more inclusive learning environment. This study emphasizes that the development of physical infrastructure, accompanied by policy support and teacher training, is an important step in achieving fair and inclusive education for all students

Abstract

This study explores the role of family involvement in the planning and implementation of post-school transition programs for students with disabilities through a systematic literature review (SLR) using a qualitative approach. Data were obtained from three databases: ScienceDirect, Scopus, and ERIC Journal. The results of the study show that family involvement focuses on decision-making, emotional support, and collaboration with education professionals. Active parental involvement in decision-making has been shown to improve students' readiness for further education or the workforce. Emotional support in the form of motivation, stress management, positive communication, and a stable home environment helps students navigate the transition period with confidence. Communication barriers between families and professionals remain a major challenge that can hinder optimal involvement. This study also highlights the often overlooked role of siblings in the transition process. The article recommends communication training for parents and professionals and the use of digital platforms to facilitate information sharing

Abstract

Advances in digital technology have brought about various sign language learning applications as innovative solutions to bridge communication barriers between the deaf community and the hearing community. This study aims to analyze the role of sign language learning applications in improving inclusive communication and to examine the perceptions of both groups regarding the use of this technology. This study uses a qualitative approach with an intrinsic case study method. The research subjects consist of six individuals, including three members of the Deaf community and three hearing users of the application in Malang City. Data collection techniques were conducted through in-depth interviews, while data analysis used the interactive model of Miles and Huberman. The results of the study indicate that digital applications facilitate initial access to sign language learning and play a role in reducing communication anxiety for the hearing community. However, the involvement of the Deaf community in the development of the application remains limited, thus failing to fully represent the needs and communication culture of the Deaf community.

Abstract

Sexual abuse against children with special needs is a critical issue requiring multidisciplinary attention. Children with special needs are highly vulnerable due to communication barriers, dependence on adults, and limited understanding of risky situations. Abuse includes verbal, physical, psychological, and digital forms. Contributing factors are low societal awareness and inadequate tailored sexual education. Cases often occur in close environments like schools, families, or communities. This study aims to analyze sexual abuse patterns among children with special needs and raise awareness. Using a PRISMA-based Systematic Literature Review (SLR), it examines abuse types, forms, and causes. Data from Scopus (2015–2025) were filtered using keywords like 'sexual abuse' and 'children with special needs, yielding 79 articles for bibliometric analysis. Findings highlight that children with intellectual disabilities (e.g., Down syndrome) face heightened risks of verbal, physical, and digital abuse, exacerbated by gender inequality and lack of inclusive education. The study underscores the need for policy reforms and protective education programs.

Abstract

Deaf children face unique challenges in learning Hijaiyah letters, particularly in distinguishing letter sounds due to hearing limitations. These challenges necessitate tailored instructional approaches that accommodate their sensory needs. This study aims to explore the implementation of the drill method combined with clay media in teaching Hijaiyah letters to deaf children at a Community Learning Center (Pusat Kegiatan Belajar Mengajar). Using a qualitative approach with a phenomenological design, data were collected through classroom observation and in-depth interviews with one teacher and two deaf students. Data were analyzed through the stages of data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results indicate that the integration of the drill method, clay media, and sign language enhances learning outcomes by promoting student engagement, improving concentration, and supporting better comprehension of Hijaiyah letters. The study concludes that this interactive, multisensory approach is effective in optimizing Hijaiyah instruction for deaf children and should be considered in inclusive Islamic education settings
