Abstract

Based on observations, there are problems in IPA learning outcomes of student with intellectual disability, which is still relatively low. It is caused by learning methods used are only as a mere lecture, self-employment, textual and less attractive media such as white board. The purposes were to describe: (1) science learning outcomes of grade VIII student with intellectual disability before using ritatoon media, (2) science learning outcomes of grade VIII student with intellectual disability after using ritatoon media, (3) the effect of ritatoon media usage toward science learning outcomes of grade VIII student with intellectual disability. This research used a single subject experimental design with Single Subject Research (SSR) method. Results showed that the baseline-1 values obtained was 55% - 65%, the intervention phase values obtained was 80% - 95%, baseline-2 phase values obtained was 90% - 95%. The conclusion was the use of ritatoon media usage gives effect toward the science learning outcomes on natural event materials.

Abstract

This research studies the design and development of the teaching and learning module with the assistance of interactive animation multimedia computer. The objective of this research is to address the following research questions, which are to enhance the interest and motivation of the special education learners as well as to facilitate the learners in identifying (CV+CV) syllables. The process in developing the software follows the ADDIE Model, which includes the five phases, namely “Analysis”, “Design”, “Development”, “Implementation” and “Evaluation”. The selection of topic in (CV+CV) syllables identification was made in order to help the special education learners in their reading process. The research method uses the Mayer’s Multimedia Learning Theory, which is based on Sweller’s Cognitive Load Theory (Chandler and Sweller). The research data was collected through a qualitative method and research design is a case study. The respondents of this research involve four learners selected through a sampling, who were then divided into one groups; namely Group A . The instruments of the research consist of a pre-test, a post-test and a questionnaire. The research finding shows that there is a significant increase ( 60% ) in the post-test of Group A. The learning through Interactive Animation Multimedia does not only attract the learners’ interest and enhance their motivation in learning, but also indirectly allows these special education learners to read.Keywords: ADDIE Model, Interactive Multimedia, and students with learning difficulties.Kajian ini mengenai pembangunan modul pengajaran dan pembelajaran (P&P) yang berbantukan kepada penggunaan komputer multimedia animasi interaktif. Tujuan kajian ini ialah untuk menjawab beberapa persoalan kajian iaitu, untuk meningkatkan minat dan motivasi pelajar pendidikan khas dan untuk memudahkan pelajar mengenal suku kata (KV+KV). Proses membangunkan perisian ini adalah berdasarkan kepada Model ADDIE yang mempunyai lima fasa iaitu “Analysis”, “Design”, “Development”, “Implementation” dan “Evaluation”. Pemilihan tajuk mengenal suku kata (KV+KV) adalah untuk membantu pelajar-pelajar pendidikan khas dalam proses membaca. Proses kajian ini menggunakan Teori Pembelajaran Multimedia oleh Mayer, dan teori ini juga adalah berdasarkan kepada Teori Beban Kongnitif Sweller ( Chandler & Sweller ). Kajian ini menggunakan kaedah kualitatif dan reka bentuk kajian ialah kajian kes. Sampel dalam kajian ini ialah seramai 4 orang pelajar yang dipilih secara sampel bertujuan yang telah dibentuk dalam satu kumpulan iaitu Kumpulan A. Instrumen kajian yang digunakan ialah ujian pra, ujian pos dan soal selidik. Dapatan kajian telah mendapati bahawa terdapat peningkatan pencapaian dalam ujian pra dan ujian pos yang menggunakan kaedah multimedia bagi Kumpulan A iaitu sebanyak (60 %) . Pembelajaran yang menggunakan kaedah Multimedia Animasi Interaktif bukan sahaja dapat menarik minat dan memberi motivasi kepada pelajar, secara tidak langsung juga pelajar pendidikan khas ini dapat membaca.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17977/um029v4i12017p001

Abstract

The reseach’s purpose was to analyze the effect of picture numeric card media toward improvement of the summation computation ability for student with intellectual disability of grade IV in SDLB. Data collected was analyzed with experiment technique and single subject research A-B design. Research result showed that: after being analyzed between condition overlap persentase was 0%. Thus, it could be concluded that there was effect of pictorial numeric card media toward summation computation ability of student with intellectual disability

Abstract

Token economy is one form of behavior modification in addressing the behavior problem among special education students. This study aims to see the effectiveness of using token economy in reducing the behavior of autism students. This study focuses on an autism student that studying in one of the primary school in Sentul District of Kuala Lumpur. The study uses the A-B-A Model design which encompasses three phases, baseline phase (A) observation of the behavior of the subject subject to the predetermined time. The intervention phase (B), the implementation of economic and phase token without intervention (A), is a phase without the application of token economy. Data were collected through observation on frequency of behavior of the study subject. The observation was conducted for 6 weeks involving three timelines of the study ie before, during and after intervention. Data obtained were analyzed by using descriptive statistic. Data then illustrated through frequency tables and line graphs to show the effectiveness of the economic token interventions implemented. The findings show that the use of token economy reduces the behavior of autism students. Future research can use the finding from this study as a guideline for special education teachers in addressing the problem of special needs students. In regard to this study, it will be a source of inspiration to the teacher that negative behavior can be changed when correct methods and technique are implemented.

Abstract

The results of this study showed that the average score on the student’s self-help capability in preaction step was 48.57 with a percentage of 14.3%. This indicated that the capability was under qualified. The implementation of Self-Help capability by using Doll-modeled Human Being Media used two cycles. The first cycle was 66 with total percentage of 28.5% classified into under qualifies. The second cycle was 85.7 with with total percentage of 85.7%. the capability of self-help in the first grade was increasing for each cycle. Based on these results it can be concluded that the use of Doll-modeled Human Being Media can increase Self-Help capability for Students with Mental Retardation in the First Grade. At the result, the teacher are expected using Doll-modeled Human Being Media in learning of Self-Help capability in order students can improve Self-Help capability.Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa skor rata-rata kemampuan bina diri siswa pada tahap pratindakan adalah 48,57 dengan persentase sebesar 14,3%. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa pembelajaran pada tahap pratindakan memperoleh kualifikasi nilai sangat kurang (SK). Pelaksanaan pembelajaran praktik bina diri menggunakan boneka model manusia dilaksanakan melalui 2 siklus. Padasiklus I skor rata-rata yang diperoleh adalah 66 dengan jumlah persentase sebesar 28,5%, persentase tersebut termasuk kualifikasi sangat kurang (SK). Pada siklus II skor rata-rata yang diperoleh sudah meningkat dibandingkan pada siklus I yaitu 85,7 dengan jumlah persentase sebesar 85,7%. Kemampuan bina diri siswa kelas I mengalami peningkatan pada tiap siklus. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan media boneka model manusia dapat meningkatkan kemampuan bina diri siswa kelas I. Dengan demikian guru diharapkan menggunakan media boneka model manusia pada pembelajaran bina diri agar siswa dapat meningkatkan kemampuan bina dirinya.

Abstract

This study examined the writing skills of visual impairment when Y (initials) experienced some errors in writting some diction words by the teacher, Y reduced, replaced or even eliminated letters that should has been written.This research used a quantitative approach of Single Subject Research (SSR) with design of multiple baseline cross variables. The results of this research showed that CBM (Curriculum Based Measurement) can increase to be effectivelly the writing skills of students with visual impairment in SDLB.

Abstract

Learning mathematics is conventionally given , resulting in mental retardation difficulties many students apply in everyday life . Starting from the problem of reasoning researchers suspect the cause is still lacking due to currency ( 1 ) learning to use a conventional model , ( 2 ) learning too abstract , given the characteristics tungrahita children who have difficulty in cognitive development , ( 3 ) no examples taken from everyday problems - days experienced by the child , so the need for ( 1 ) a more attractive approach , ( 2 ) the learning associated with the state of nature , ( 3 ) learning is taken by everyday problems , ( 4 ) the conversion of textual learning how to be contextual. .Base on the research findings , some suggestions can be put forward : a) during the learning needs of learners tunagrahita innovative and contextual learning , b ) should be adapted to the learning environment and the ability of students to instructional design significantly , c ) at the time of the sale and purchase of learning to use the model , should the teacher must determine the readiness of the students participating in learning , motivate students and not always bored to membelajarkan and gives stock purchase science , teachers need to give rewards to students who successfully perform independently.Berawal dari masalah tersebut peneliti menduga penyebab penalaran mata uang masih kurang dikarenakan (1) pembelajaran menggunakan model yang konvensional, (2) pembelajaran terlalu abstrak, mengingat karakteristik anak tungrahita yang kesulitan dalam perkembangan kognitif, (3) contoh-contoh tidak diambil dari masalah sehari-hari yang dialami anak, sehingga perlu adanya (1) pendekatan yang lebih menarik, (2) pembelajaran dihubungkan dengan keadaan alamiah, (3)pembelajaran di ambil berdasarkan masalah sehari-hari, (4) pengubahan cara belajar tektual menjadi kontekstual. Kesimpulan dengan jual beli dalam pembelajaran vokasional tata boga pada peserta didik tunagrahita dapat meningkatkan penalaran mata uang, hal ini terbukti sesuai dengan indikator penalaran yang disajikan secara lisan maupun tertulis.Kemampuan penalaran yang disajikan secara lisan mulai dari menyebutkan, menunjukkan, membedakan, dan asal mata uang. Melalui jual beli dalam pembelajaran vokasional tata boga pada peserta didik tunagrahita dapat terasa lebih bermakna dan sebagai bekal peserta didik untuk menunjang kehidupan sehari-hari dimasyarakat.

Abstract

The background of this study was the lack of social interaction ability of children with moderate mentally retarded fourth graders of SDLB. This study was aimed at implementing a new method to overcome social interaction problem of students with moderate mentally retarded in which the method was field trip. This study employed experimental design with Single Subject Research (SSR) method. The students’ social interaction ability in percentage was 44% to 40% in baseline and 70% to 89% in intervention. 14 to 12 for the form of frequency in baseline and 31 to 37 in intervention. The overlap percentage was 0%. Thus, field trip method had a positive effect toward the social interaction ability of children with moderate mentally retarded.

Abstract

This article discusses the role of news media in communicating information about Disabled news to the public. The focus of the discussion centered issue and advocacy role of the news media conducted to understand the issues of persons with disabilities. Studies conducted using the method of analysis to systematically review the library of selected journals that conduct media exposure of persons with disabilities at the global level and so focused towards media conference in Malaysia. In this research, the data was obtained through databases ERIC, google scholar, Journal of Education, Journal of Social Sciences and Journal of Communication. A total of 30 articles were based on keywords such as disabled people, newspapers, news exposure to people with disabilities. However, researchers have obtained 13 articles that met after being filtered. The results obtained showed that the press releases are also still not open and not to report the news on disabilities. This is because there is a stigma that prevents acceptance of disabilities such as discrimination and negative attitudes towards them. Outlook negative stereotypes of people with disabilities who are strangers, the great ones, defects often appear in the media. Even now there is increasing advocacy for press media publishing news on this special group but the content or dissemination of information about them is still less show.Artikel ini membincangkan peranan media akhbar dalam menyampaikan maklumat berita tentang Orang Kurang Upaya kepada masyarakat. Fokus perbincangan ditumpukan isu dan peranan advokasi media akhbar dijalankan untuk memahami isu orang kurang upaya. Kajian yang dijalankan menggunakan kaedah analisis perpustakaan secara sistematik review terhadap jurnal-jurnal terpilih yang menjalankan kajian paparan media ke atas orang kurang upaya di peringkat global dan seterusnya difokus ke arah media akhbar di Malaysia. Dalam penyelidikan ini, data-data diperolehi melalui pengkalan data ERIC, google scholar, Jurnal Pendidikan, Jurnal Sains Sosial dan Jurnal Komunikasi. Sebanyak 30 artikel diperolehi berdasarkan kata kunci seperti orang kurang upaya, surat khabar, paparan berita terhadap OKU. Namun begitu, penyelidik telah memperoleh 13 artikel yang menepati setelah disaring. Hasil didapati menunjukkan akhbar akhbar juga masih tidak terbuka dan kurang untuk melaporkan berita tentang OKU. Ini kerana masih terdapat stigma yang menghalang penerimaan OKU seperti diskriminasi dan sikap negatif terhadap mereka. Pandangan stereotaip golongan OKU yang negatif seperti orang asing, golongan yang susah, cacat sering dipaparkan dalam media. Walaupun, kini media akhbar ada peningkatan advokasi penerbitan berita terhadap golongan istimewa ini namun kandungan atau penyebaran maklumat tentang golongan ini masih lagi kurang dipaparkan.DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.17977/um029v4i12017p032

Abstract

Occasionally, students with intellectual disability are difficult to understand the abstract concept especially in Mathematics. This research aims to develop tutorial media by using Information Technology in Arithmetic Operation for 4th Grade Elementary school students. This research uses Hannafin and Peck model. Product in this research is a learning tutorial using Information Technology for 4th Grade Elementary students who have mental retardation. This product has observed to the media expert, material expert, and students. The result of this research showed that tutorial media using Information Technology is very suitable and appropriate to be implemented in arithmetic learning.Siswa tunagrahita sulitan memahami konsep yang bersifat abstrak khususnya matematika. Dasar tujuan Penelitian adalah guna mengembangkan media tutorial berbasis teknologi informasi operasi hitung kelas IV siswa tunagrahita. Model yang digunakan dalam penelitian adalah pengembangan Hannafin dan Peck. Hasil atau produk yang akan diperoleh adalah sebuah tutorial pembelajaran berbasis teknologi informasi yang berfungsi menjadi media untuk pembelajaran operasi hitung kelas IV tunagrahita. Produk diuji cobakan kepada ahli media, ahli materi dan siswa. Hasil uji coba menunjukkan bahwa media tutorial berbasis teknologi informasi secara umum layak difungsikan pada kegiatan belajar operasi hitung.
