Abstract

This study was aimed to describe and explain (1) differences of students’ learning achievement using argument-based-science-textbook and curriculum 2013-science-textbook for junior high school. Type of the study was quasi experiment with nonequivalent pretest-postest control group design. Population of the study was the seventh grade students of SMP Negeri 4 Singaraja having 11classes. Samples of the study were chosen by cluster random sampling techniques. The sampling produced two parallel classes, that was class VIIA1 and VIIA2 and both were lotteried to determinea control and an experimental class.Results of the lottery were class VIIA1 as the control class, whereas class VIIA2 as the experimental class. The experimental class was taught using argument-based-science textbook, whereas the control class was taught using curriculum 2013-science-textbook. Results of the study showed that the average score of learning achievement of the experimental class was significant difference from the average score of learning achievement of the control class. From the average scores, it could be concluded that the average score of learning achievement of the experimental class was higher than that of the control class.

Abstract

This research aims to explore level of habits of minds and cognitive anxiousness profile of senior high school students in Bandung. Descriptive analysis is used as a research method with stratified random sampling techniques. The population of this research were all of the students 11th and 12th grade in Bandung. Collecting data was conducted on 11th and 12th grade of four different school as sample using questionnaire instrument. Habits of mind instrument was adapted from Costa and Kallick’s and anxiousness cognitive test was adapted from Cassady and Johnson’s. The result of this research shows that habits of minds score average and cognitive anxiousness score average of 11th and 12th grade were 111,77 (75%) and 53,15 (66%) for 11th grade and 114,66 (76%) and 56,17 (69%) for 12th grade. The results show us that habits of minds and cognitive anxiousness of  11th and 12th grade were moderate categorically.

Abstract

The research has been done on Juli 2017 in the coastal region of Tunda Island. This study aims to determine the Biodiversity of Mollusca (Gastropoda and Bivalvia) As Bioindicator of Water Quality In Coastal Area of Tunda Island, Banten. Sampling consists of 2 observation stations, namely the mangrove coastal area (3 transects) and the seagrass coastal area (2 transects) determined by purposive sampling. The observation of each station is done by using the quadratic transect method with 100 m transect line distance, and in each transect line there are 5 observation plots measuring 1m2 x 1m2. The data analysis includes density, biodiversity, bio-indicators of water quality based on diversity index. Result of research on 5 transect found 45 type Mollusca which represent 2 class, that is Gastropoda class of 29 species Gastropoda joined in 14 Family. As for Bivalvia class found 16 species incorporated in 9 families. The total density of Mollusca is 541.2 ind / m2 which consists of 392.4 ind / m2 for Gastropoda class and 148.8 ind / m2 for Bivalvia class. Mollusca diversity was calculated using the diversity index of Shannon-Wienner (H '). The results of diversity index ranged from 3.1356 - 3.3314 with high category. Bioindicator of aquatic quality using diversity index indicates that the coastal area of Tunda Island belongs to a very mildly polluted category.

Abstract

ABSTRACTHigher order thinking skills are needed to understand the problem and the essence of the lecture material Biology Sel. Study design Research and Development aims to develop reasoning skills and analytic thinking biology student teachers through the application of learning models Integration Attributes Formative Assessment (IAAF). Some 61 students of Biology Education Semarang State University who is doing his third semester courses Cell Biology is the subject of research. Analytical reasoning and  thinking ability of students is measured through individual assignments, group assignments concept map creation and preparation of the Review articles, and 30 items about the shape of the selected response and constructed response questions, validated questions. The result showed that the ability of reasoning and analytical thinking of students can be expanded significantly, although the development of the ability of argumentation, one category of analytic thinking skills, they need serious attention.

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui pengaruh field trip dengan pemanfaatan rumpon buatan terhadap keterampilan proses sains (KPS) dan sikap ilmiah siswa di SMP Satu Atap Pulau Tunda, Kecamatan Tirtayasa, Kabupaten Serang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian weak experiment, karena tidak adanya kelas kontrol. Sampel penelitian adalah siswa kelas X SMP Satu Atap Pulau Tunda yang dipilih secara purposive sampling, karena kelas X hanya ada satu kelas saja. Data diperoleh dari soal KPS, lembar observasi KPS dan sikap ilmiah selama pembelajaran, dan lembar wawancara. Hasil uji T menunjukkan nilai signifikansi 0.00 < 0.05, menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh metode field trip dengan pemanfaatan rumpon buatan terhadap keterampilan proses sains (KPS) dan sikap ilmiah siswa di SMP Satu Atap Pulau Tunda. Aspek KPS yang memiliki persentase tinggi yaitu menggunakan alat dan bahan, dan interpretasi. Sikap ilmiah yang tertinggi yaitu rasa ingin tahu. Saran dari hasil penelitian ini agar KPS dan sikap ilmiah siswa dapat ditingkatkan lagi yaitu dengan cara kepala sekolah serta pemerintah daerah  berperan serta untuk memberikan  pelatihan bagi guru terkait model pembelajaran, KPS, dan sikap ilmiah.

Abstract

This research aimed to develop a learning module on plant tissue based on the nature of science and to analyse the module quality based on the experts. This research was a development research (R&D) with3-(Define, Design, and Develop) model. The instruments in this research were questionnaire and assessment questionnaire. Module was assessed from the feasible aspects of content, language, presentation and graphics.The datawasconductedby assessmen tquestionnaire, and then processed quantitatively. The data was collected by questionnaire were analyzed descriptively. There sults howed learning module based on the nature ofscience on plan ttissue has a very good by assessment of the experts.

Abstract

The research has been conducted at mangrove forest of Pulau Dua conservation in Serang town of Banten province from September to November 2011. The purposes of study were to know the production and potential nutrient of mangrove litter and to expect the nutrients released into marine environment. The sample was taken by employing transect-square method. Mangrove litter avalanches were caught by litter-trap and the size was examined by filtering the litter in water flow which connected mangrove forest and marine. The potential nutrient production of mangrove litter was analyzed by administering nutrient analysis of C, N, and P in laboratory. The findings showed that the dominating mangrove types were Avicennia marina and Rhizophora apiculata with 51,43% and 36,19%.of relative density. The mangrove forest of Pulau Dua conservation produced 4,05 gr/m2 /day litters on average total or 14,78 ton/ha/year litters ; and the largest contributor was leaves. The production of litters’ potential nutrient achieved 0,3456 gr-C/m2/day or 1,2616 ton-C/ha/year, 0,0091 gr-N/m2/day or 0,0333 ton-N/ha/year, 0,0008 gr-P/m2/day or 0,0031 ton-P/ha/year. Mangrove forest of Pulau Dua conservation also contributed 855,4724 gr.day/m3 litters to marine waters.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to determine the content of heavy metals mercury contained in the fish Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus L.) aquaculture cages around the Riam Kanan reservoir and compare it with quality standards based on the Decree of the Head of BPOM No. HK.00.06.1.52.4011 about the maximum limit of metal contamination in food, especially in fish. This study was conducted from September to December 2011. Sampling was conducted at three stations covering the village of Tiwingan Baru, Tiwingan Lama dan Aranio in the Aranio district. Sampling was done by purposive sampling method or sampling intentionally with certain considerations that are considered important. Mercury analysis performed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer (AAS) instrument. Result showed that the average content of mercury in sediment samples at the first station of 0,0262 mg/kg; the second station of 0,1489 mg/kg and not detected at the third station, the content is still below the set threshold. The content of mercury in water samples of Riam Kanan reservoir at all stations are still below the threshold of water quality standards according to Government Regulation No. 82 of 2001. Result on the mercury content of Tilapia fish meat samples at all stations are still below the standards threshold based on the Decree of the Head of BPOM about the maximum limit of metal contamination in food, especially in fish.

Abstract

Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana Bert. M.) is known as a natural non-caloric sweetener. This plants contain glycoside such steviosida type, mainly on the leave contain sweetness level between 200-300 cane sugar but the calorie is very low. This research was aimed to determine difference effects of PEG (Polyethylene Glycol) concentrations and the light conditions on Stevia (Stevia rebaudiana Bert. M.) callus induction in vitro. This research was conducted from April to June 2016 at Biotechnology Laboratory Faculty of Agriculture, Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University. This research used a completely randomized design (CRD), which consisted of two factors with three replications. Concentrations of PEG as first factor consisted of four levels (0 mg/L, 5 mg/L, 15 mg/L, and 25 mg/L). Light conditions as second factor consisted of two levels (Dark and Light). The results showed that the concentrations of PEG (Polyethylene Glycol) did not significantly effect the time of callus appearance and diameter of callus on 4, 5 and 6 weeks after planting. Dark condition was the best conditions for callus induction of stevia. The texture of callus was compact on all treatments and the callus dominant color produced is golden brown.

It allows students to build their own knowledge with the help of lecturers gradually. The purpose of this study was to determine the student logical thinking abilityandlearningoutcomesingeneralbiologycoursesthroughthelearningblendedlearningbased scaffolding. This research was conducted by descriptive method. Stages of research include the preparationofanevaluationinstrument,implementationoftheproductintheformofblendedlearning ingeneralbiologylectures,measurementoflogicalthinkingabilityofstudentsandlearningoutcomes evaluation stage. The results showed that there is an improvement of student logical thinking ability fromtheconcretelevelintoaformallevel.Variablecontrolingarethehighestlogicalthingkingability aspect with a percentage 81,9.
