Abstract

The problems faced today by Indonesian teachers are the difficulty of implementing e-learning in the learning process, especially physics learning. During this time the teacher considers using e-learning in the classroom will not be effective. This study aims to explain how the implementation of physics learning by using Moodle-based e-learning in the learning process. In this study, it divided into two aspecs, namely learning outcomes and interest in learning with physics learning material in rectilinear motion. This study uses an experimental class design with a sample size  X class of 10 students of Public High School 1 Piyungan group chosen randomly. This study used the design of one group pretest and posttest using the T-Test while the significance value using N-gain analysis scores and learning interests obtained from the questionnaire. The results of the analysis show an increase in learning outcomes with very high N-gain significance values. Then the percentage of student learning interest reaches 66% which is in the excellent category. So it can be concluded that the application of moodle-based learning can increase learning interest and learning outcomes and 73% of students agree if knowledge based on Moodle applied in the learning process. Keywords: e-learning, Moodle, learning management system, learning outcomes, interest in learning

Abstract

This paper examined the role of technology in enhancing teaching and learning in Cambodian higher institutions and its implication for stakeholders. Evaluation of ICT models, emerging technologies and the learning theories related to technology were systematically reviewed. An overview of teaching and learning before the digital age with a particular reference to history of education and technology in Cambodia was examined while historical theories of educational technology such as constructivism, complexity theory, the pedagogy of nearness, heutagogy, and connectivism were highlighted. Furthermore, emerging technology integration models such as SAMR, TPACK, UDL models were examined including the multiple roles of the learner, educator and the audience in a connected age.Several strategies in which technological tools that can be used to enhance students’ learning were provided. Part of the Implication of the study includes adequate provision of power supply, computer laboratories and internet connectivity in Cambodian higher institutions should be paramount to government, private firms, philanthropists and NGOs so that students can appreciate technology and learn fast. Aside that, adequate fund should be given to the institutions to procure other necessary technology gadgets that can be used to promote learning. Keywords: ICT Models, Teaching and Learning, Higher Institutions, Stakeholders, Cambodia

Abstract

Watukumpul is located in Pemalang District, Central Java, which is adjacent to the fault seismotectonic line of Baribis fault in the north and subduction area of the Eurasian and Indies-Australian plates in the south. It makes Watukumpul often experiences an earthquake. This study aimed to map the peak ground acceleration calculated using the Kanai equation and earthquake intensity calculated using Wald equations in Watukumpul. This study used historical earthquake data occurred in 1988-April 2018 from the International Seismological Center and microtremor measurements of 33 points. Microtremor data were processed using the Horizontal to Vertical Spectral Ratio method and resulted the predominant period of study area ranged from 0.13 to 0.74 s. The results showed that the study area had a PGA value of 26.93 - 63.25 gal. The intensity calculation showed that the study area has the potential for earthquake damage with an III-IV MMI scale. Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of cognitive aspects among X grade students of Metal Fabrication Engineering and Manufacturing, Vocational High School (VHS) using Problem-Based Learning (PBL) method. This study used classroom action research, which was conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages, i.e. planning, implementation, observation, and reflection. This study involved one collaborator to assist researchers in implementing PBL and to monitor the learning process. The data collection technique used observation method with checklist and rating scale instrument. The data were analyzed descriptively. The reserach results showed that the implementation of PBL method in ignition system learning improve the students’ learning activities with the percentage of 11.20%, the learning activities, in which 29 students was in very high category and 3 students with high category. Also, the learning outcomes of cognitive aspects getting higher amounted to 5.32% consisting of remembering (86.87%), understanding (77.68%), applying (78.77%), analyzing (79.61%), evaluation (77.97%), and creating (79.16%) respectively. Moreover, the students’ learning outcomes rised of which 29 students (91.31%) achieved above the minimum completeness criteria. Keywords: problem-based learning, cognitive aspects, learning outcomes

Abstract

The connection among learning objectives, learning evaluation, and learning steps in a lesson plan is essential in an effective learning. A meaningful learning to students is a learning where learning objectives, evaluations, and steps are interrelated. A physics learning about capacitor circuits is an abstract learning that requires the proper learning method so that students can easily understand it. The purpose of this study is to make a lesson plan about capacitor circuits using UbD. Understanding by Design (UbD) is often referred to as "Backward Design" – an alternative lesson plan in a sequence namely learning objectives, learning evaluations, and learning steps. First of all, the lesson plan was made about capacitors using UbD Template. The lesson plan then was given to the three reviewers who are all physics teachers. Suggestions from reviewers will be reviewed and used as a reference in the improvement or revision of the lesson plan. Keywords: Understanding by Design, capacitor circuit, physics learning

Abstract

Carbon dots (C-dots) is a new type of luminescense nanoparticles that can be synthesized easily from natural sources, such as cassava peels. C-dots has been synthesized from cassava peels based green synthesis using low temperature. The surface of C-dots was passivated by poly(ethylene glycol) (PEG) with variations in volume from 0.5 ml, 1 ml, and 1.5 ml. Luminescense properties before and after passivasive with PEG characterized using photoluminescense (PL) and time resolved photoluminescence (TRPL) spectrophotometer. Peak wavelength spectrum of PL shows a red shift when 0.5 ml PEG was added. However, when the addition of PEG increases, peak wavelength spectrum of PL shows a blue shift. PL intensity decreased along with increasing of PEG volume. PL intensity influenced C-dots electron time decay linearly. C-dots electron time decay increased along with decreased of PL intensity. This results assigned potency that C-dots in water solution can be applied as bioimaging and metal ion and salt biosensing. however, it needs extra optical measurements to support our discovery. Keywords: cassava peels, C-dots, electron time decay, FL intensity, PEG

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze ecological literacy, environmental awareness, academic ability, and environmental problem-solving skill at the Adiwiyata schools in Tangerang City. The research method used descriptive quantitative with survey technique. The respondents consisted of 245 students of class XI Science from three Adiwiyata Senior High Schools in Tangerang City. The instruments used in this study were tests and questionnaires. Ecological literacy was measured using multiple choice tests and questionnaires, environmental awareness was measured using a questionnaire, academic ability was measured by using the total national exam scores of students when in Junior High School, and environmental problem-solving skill was measured using essay tests. The results showed that the majority of students had ecological literacy scores with basic categories, environmental awareness scores with very good categories, academic ability scores with moderate categories, and scores for environmental problem-solving skill with enough categories. Based on the results of the study, other schools are expected to also be able to implement the Adiwiyata program so that students can develop ecological literacy, environmental awareness, academic ability and environmental problem solving skills. Keywords: Academic Ability, Ecological Literacy, Environmental Awareness, Problem-Solving Skills.
