Abstract

This writing contains a semantic study of surah Al-Baqarah verse 185.As it is known, fasting is explained by Allah SWT through surah Al-Baqarah verse 183-185.In the verse 183, Allah explains the obligation of fasting for the believers; the verse 184 contains an explanation of the days in which the obligation of fasting must be fulfilled; and the verse 185 implies the way to know the coming of the month of Ramadan as a month in which fasting is obligated.The mufassirins understand the verse 185 of Al-baqarah asinformation about the condition of someone who presents (meets) the month of Ramadan, then it is obligatory upon him to fast.This understanding departs from the word "shahida" which means "present" or "be" (in the country of residence). The writer conducted a lexical, grammatical, and contextual research of the meanings included in the "shahida" lafaz, where the meaning of "witnessing" or "knowing" also falls within the scope of the shahida meaning, and that meaning is felt to be more in line with maqashid shari'ah.Witnessing and knowing the coming of the month of Ramadan is the condition of someone who gains knowledge and beliefthat the month of Ramadan has come. Those knowledge and belief can be obtained through rukyat (the physical sighting of the moon) or hisab (calculation). However, because the word "shahida" is related to the word "shahr", it is not appropriate if the method used is rukyat because "shahr" means month in terms of numbers, not months in terms of objects.Therefore, in this context, the right way is hisab (calculation) because hisab is a method / way of knowing the coming of the month of Ramadan with numbers / counting.Thus, the cue given by Allah in the verse 185 of Al-Baqarah is an order to know the coming of Ramadan by doing hisab (calculation)

Abstract

This study focused on the Qur’anic mushaf manuscript, the heritage collection of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari, stored in the library of Tebuireng pesantren. In this Pesantren, there are many collections of manuscripts, but this Qur’anic manuscript is never discussed bythe researchers who scrutinize KH. Hasyim Asy’ari’s collection works. The present study had three stages, namely identification of manuscript, criticism of corrupt texts, and the form of scholia manuscript. The purposes of this study were to explain the identity of the manuscript and classify the corrupt and scholia forms that occurred in the Qur'anic manuscript at Tebuireng Pesantren.The method used was the criticism of the texts through the inventory of all faults that occurred in the copying based on the Qur'anic manuscript that had been in tashih. This study found out that (1) the manuscript of the Qur’anicmushaf, the heritage collection of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari, had many mistakes in the process of copying. Frequent mistakes lied in punctuation errors, dots in letters, excess letters, or lack of letters; and (2) The Scholia manuscript form of the Qur’anicmushaf, the heritage of KH. Hasyim Asy'ari, was used to give clarification on the mistakes that occurred in the texts. Abstract

The main issues addressed in this study are the meaning and nature of the word Ulul Albab in the Qur’an. In general, some theories say that Ulul Albab means a person who has intelligent thoughts, conscious heart, who is opened and understand the essence beyond the physical nature. The word also refers to one who enjoys what he sees and knows, and who always remembers Allah The Almighty through all things he sees and touches. Those meaningsare similar to the meaning of the term “Intellectual” in the general senseknown bynowadays people. So, can the term Ulul Albab be translated into “Intellectual Muslim”?, and how is then the Qur’anic conception of Ulul Albab’s existences and characteristics?Thus, this study deals with the meanings and essence of Ulul Albab in the Qur’an, the characteristics of Ulul Albab, and how to build Ulul Albab characteristics properly? This is a library research. The data analysis used content analysis on the material object in the form of verses of the Qur’an by using Thematic Interpretation Method approach الـتـفــســيــرالمــوضــوعـى))  (al-Tafsir al-Maudhu’i) as a formal object, and supported by some relevant theories. The objective of this research is to find out the valid and concrete data or theories about the meanings and nature of Ulul Albab  in the Qur’an. This research results in several conclusions that; the term Ulul Albab in the Qur’an has the same meaning as the term “Intellectual Muslim”, Al-Qur’an describes several characteristics of Ulul Albab and how to build and developed the mentioned characteristics

Abstract

This study aimed at determining the differences of learning concentration ability between the students who listened to the murattal of Qur'an and the students who listened to the recitation of Qur'an. This research was a comparative study with an experimental approach using two groups pre and posttest design. There was two experimental classes and it consisted fifteen students of each. The first experimental class was given an audio murattal of the Qur'an intervention and the second experimental class was given an audio recitation of the Qur'an intervention. The data collection instruments used in this study was concentration ability tests which were developed and referenced from the Employee Aptitude Survey (EAS) test and consisted of 5 subs tests namely word fluency sub tests, verbal comprehension, verbal classification, visual space speed and accuracy test, and understanding of reading test. The results obtained in the two groups based on the t test results obtained sig. (2-tailed) 0.018 <α 0.05, this showed that there was a significant difference between the students who listened to murattal of the Qur'an and the students who listened recitations of the Qur'an. It appears that Qur'anic recitation treatments is more effective in increasing learning concentration

Abstract

This paper discusses the work of Ibn Hajar al-Asqalany, which has been discussed by Islamic scholars around the world. His description of the pandemic was quite comprehensive, including the encyclopedia data of the plague that occurred during the Shahabah, Umayyad and Abbasid dynasties. By departing from the questions: first, how does Islamic literature talk about a pandemic; secondly, what are the factors that cause pandemic emerged in Islamic history literature? Third how is the credibility of Bażl al-Mā’ūn and others in dealing with pandemics such as COVID-19? This paper shows that Bażl al-Mā'ūn is an important reference in discussing pandemics in the Islamic world.Besides, there are indeed other books that appeared before al-Asqalany's work which also shows that basically the Islamic religion has strong credibility for talking about a pandemic in many perspectives, not only from a religious point of view, but from an empirical and scientific point of view.

Abstract

This paper examines the view of Imam Sawi towards isra'iliyyat in the interpretation of the mustyiah mustard. The inclusion of isra'iliyyat in Islam began in the era of the Prophet, but that period was still counted by the Prophet. After he died, the entry of Israel became increasingly out of control. In the tabi'in era and later generations, many commentators have included isra'iliyyat in their interpretations even today. The method in this research is descriptive-analytical with content analysis for data analysis. In this study, 12 stories which are categorized as isra'iliyyat are displayed. From this research,Sawi's view of isra'iliyyatcould be analyzed.At some point,he gives comments, and he is also silent to some extent. Of the 12 stories that are displayed, there are 3 stories that get comments while the rest is without comments. Those who received comments were the story of Joseph and Zulaikha, the son of Ibrahim who was slain and the story of Zainab bint Jahsyi. From these results, it can be concluded that Sawi is a productive and critical writer, while the israiliyyat shown may be ibrah. As for not commenting, because of the nature of tawadhu'he was a great Sufi from the Tariqah Khalwatiyah.

Abstract

This paper aims to understand hadiths related to the benefit of memorizing the Qur’an in the contemporary era. The review is needed because now memorizing the Qur’an has been a trend and even exploited for the sake of commercial interest such as Hafiz Indonesia program in RCTI. The method which is used to explain the meanings of hadiths is Nasr Hamid Abu Zaid’s hermeneutic. The hermeneutic is trying to peel three levels of intended meaning. They are dalalat (meaning), maghza (significance), and maskut anhu (unspoken things). Based on the application of the hermeneutic, the result is that the meaning of the hadith is a form of motivation which was delivered by the prophet, so that the companions were enthusiastic for memorizing the Qur’an. The purpose is that the Qur’an had to be maintained for the next generations. The manner of keeping the Qur’an, according to that time tradition was by memorizing it. Meanwhile, the significance is practicing the teachings of the Qur’an in daily life. The Qur’an is not enough to only exist in their memories, but also it must be applied in their behavior. To get virtue and honor in the world and after life, individual piety (memorizing the Qur’an) must be parallel with social piety (interaction with the others). The last, its maskut anhu is a prohibition of memorizing the Qur’an for popularity and economic interest

Abstract

Amanah has a significant role in Islam. In some mandate authority, amanah is one of the conditions that must be fulfilled. This study aims to conduct an in-depth analysis related to the meaning of the mandate and its classification in relation to the development of organizational culture. This research is qualitative with documentation as the technique of collecting data. This technique is carried out by examining documents related to the interpretation of the mandate through several interpretive literatures and also other works. The conclusion of the study states that the meaning of amanah is obedience, security, and keeping promises. Furthermore, the classification of amanah in the context of developing organizational culture is as a criterion for faith, a criterion for choosing colleagues, as an organizational culture, and as one of the criteria for the success of a believer. Thus, the Qur’anic meaning and classification of amanah play a role in enriching the development of organizational culture in thedisruptive era

Abstract

This article discusses the pattern of integration of religion and science in the book series Tafsir Ilmi “Kisah Nabi Pra-Ibrahim dalam Perspektif Al-Qur’an dan Sains.” This descriptive-qualitative research uses the quantum integration theory Nidhal Guessoum (2011) through library research. The results of this study show that there are three patterns of integration that are strictly applied in the work. First, the pattern of integration of the story of the Qur'an and science emphasizes the principle that there is no contradiction between the Qur'an and science, both in terms of source, purpose, method, and content. Second, it can be seen that the application of multiple layered interpretation patterns in the work confirms that there is no single truth in explaining the historical information of human civilization. Third, the theological falsification pattern proves the existence of methodological and metaphysical aspects. The methodological aspect shows that there is a valid presentation of scientific data. The metaphysical aspect of the Qur'anic story advocates the internalization of moral-spiritual values for the reader.
