Abstract

The aims of this research were to study the effect of red apple juice (Pyrus malus L.)on Blood HDL cholesterol (High Density Lipoprotein) of white male mice strain wistar(Rattus norvegicus).This research using experimental method,and Pre and Post testRandomized Controlled Group Design. The subjects in these research were 25 mices, whichpossess 180-200g weight. Mices were divided into 5 groups, namely negative control(aquadest), positive control (Simvastatin) and Pyrus malus juice treatments concentration 2ml per day treatment (P1), 4 ml/day treatment (P2) and 8 ml/day treatment (P3). Every groupconsists of five mices.Treatment starts by feds mices with high content of lipids diet for tendays.At day eleven, all mices were analyzedits HDL cholesterol (pre-test).Thenall miceswere feds with high content of lipids diet and its treatment.After ten days of treatment, posttestwere conducted.Data were analyzed using spss ver.19. The differences betweentreatmentswere analyzed usingone way ANOVA. The results shows that 8 ml/day Pyrusmalus juice significantly increase HDL cholesterol of white male wistar(p<0,05). Pyrusmalus juice(P3)possess activity as simvastatin.Keywords: Pyrus malus L., Rattus norvegicus L., HDL cholesterol

Abstract

This paper reports the identification and determination of benzoate preservative level intomato sauce on the market in Manado. Extraction of the benzoate with diethylether anddetermination of the preservative (benzoic acid) was determined using UV-Visspectrophotometer. Qualitatively, it was found that the sauce samples contained benzoate.Quantitatively, it was found that four samples of tomato sauce used benzoate as apreservative. two of them used benzoic above the threshold set uot in Decree No. Permenkes.722/Menkes/Per/IX/88.Keywords: benzoate, ketchup, Manado, spectrophotometer UV- Vis.

Abstract

Carrot (Daucus carota L.) is a plant which used as traditional medicine and one of its benefits isas diuretic. The research was aimed to find out diuretic effect of Carrot juice and relationship ofthe increases of Carrot juice (Daucus carota L.) concentration on white male mice strain Wistar(Rattus norvegicus). Fifteen mices were divided into five group of treatment, namely negativecontrol group (CMC 1% suspension), positive control group (furosemid suspension), 15%suspension of carrot juice group, 30% suspension of carrot juice group and 60% suspension ofCarrot juice group.The test of diuretic effect were conducted by calculate volume of excretedurine during 24 hours treatment. Data were analyzed using spss ver.19. The differences betweentreatments were analyzed using one way ANOVA.The result shows that suspension of Carrotjuice treatment increase urine volume. The increases of juice concentration shows better effect.Based on result, it can be concluded that Carrot juice possess diuretic effect (p<0,05), and thereare correlation between concentrations of Carrot juice to the increasing of urinevolume.Keywords : Carrot juice, diuretic effect, Rattus norvegicus

Abstract

The aim of these research were to study antibacterial effect, effective concentration, and theeffect of concentration alteration of white galangal rhizome extract ointmentto heal rabbitsback skininfected with Staphylococcus aureus. Extraction was done by maceration usingethanol 96% as solvent. Observation of healing time was done by observing infectionhealingtime on rabbits back skin after anointment treatment, which based onthe disappearance oferythema and pus. The result shows that 10% of white galangal rhizome extract ointmenteffective to heal the infection of Staphylococcus aureus. It shown by its short healing timecompared with concentration 3% and 5%. One way ANOVA result shows that there was asignificant effect between concentrations 3%, 5%,and 10%. Abstract

Leilem Leaves had a bitter taste, but it is believed as antioxidant. This research aims to find way formaking a formulation of effervescent granules from Leilem leaves extract wich is demand thestandards for effervescent granules. The extracts resulted from soxhletasi method with 95% ethanol(1:5), and the formula based from 7% extract, citric acid 16.2%, 25.2% tartaric acid, lemon essence2%, 0.5% CMC, and food coloring. Effervescent granules from Leilem leaves are prepared by drygranulation method. Results of manufacturing effervescent granules was tested by physical stuff, andthen compared with the literature, the test results showed effervescent granules have a regularlyshape, with orange-scented, had a 4.35% value of LOD, the pour volume is 150g/183mL with 1.09%volume of shrinkage, the test flow capacity is 30.650, and able to complete the test of dispersion timefor 1 minute 9 seconds. Based on these results it can be concluded that the extract of Leilem leavescan be made an effervescent granules by dry granulation method, and has a good quality because itwas demand the standards test of good granules.Key word: Clerodendrum minahassae L, Ekstract, Formulation, Effervescent

Abstract

Inflamation is a protective response of body from injury of cell. Edema is one ofinflammation sign. Guava stem leather contains of flavonoid which has potency to inhibitedema. The aims of this research were to study antiinflamation effect of ethanolic extractofguava stem leather (Psidium guajava L.) on edema of white mice strain wistar legs.Thesubjects in this research were 25 wistar male which divided into 5 groups, namely negativecontrol (aquades), positive control (indometasin) and extract group with concentration 1%,2% and 4%. Every group consists of five mices. Aquades, indometasin and extractsupplementation were done per oral, followed with 5% of white egg induction on mice leftleglead to edema formation.Measurement of edema volume was done using plestimometer,and observation of edema were made every hour during 7 hours. Data which obtained wereanalyzed with ANOVA, if there is a differences between treatment, analysis continue to LSDtest. The result shows that supplementation of ethanolic extract of guava stem leatherconcentration 1% and 2 % decrease edema significantly with percent of inhibition 37,37 and32,59%, but supplementation of ethanolic extract of guava stem leather concentration 1% didnot shows inhibition effect .Keywords: guava stem leather, antiinflamation, edema

Abstract

The objective of this research was to determine the potential antioxidant phytochemicalextracts corn cob (Zea mays L.). Corn cobs extracted using maceration method for 1x24 hours.Determination of phytochemical content is done by calculating the total phenolic. Testingantioxidant activity using free-radical scavengers DPPH (1,1-diphenyl-2-pikrilhidrazil). Results ofthis research showed that the extract of corn cobs have total phenolic. Extract 60% corn cobs haveprophylactic activity of free radicals, followed by extract 40, 80 and 20%. Conclusion of thisresearch is corn cob extracts have potential as antioxidants phytochemicals.Keywords : corn cob, antioxidant, phenolic, DPPH

Abstract

Acrylamide can be formed as a consequence of heating athigh temperature (more than1200C) in food contains high of carbohydrate. Acrylamide was classified as carcinogeniccompound to human being. Junk food which mostly eaten by people is fries. The objectiveof this research is to identify acrylamide in banana fries marketed in Manado city usingHigh Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). Samples were taken from 12 places,by 6 sub district Manado City. Acrylamide were analyzed by HPLC using Shim-Pack VPODS(4,6 x 250 nm) column, comparison of mobile phase acetonitrile and phospate acid11,45 mM (5:95), flow rate 1 ml/minuteand at wave lenght 210 nm. The result shows thatAcrylamide contains in banana fries with retention time ±4,284 minutes. Acrylamidecontained in banana fries which marketed in Manado City were 39,65 – 1789,52 μg/kg.Acrylamide level in banana fries is at under lethal dose (LD50)Keywords : Acrylamide, banana fries, HPLC, Manado

Abstract

Bananais a plant thatcanbe used asthe basis fortreatment.Banana trunk containssaponincompounds, flavonoids, andtannins.The purpose of this study was to isolate saponin compound in methanol extract of Ambon banana (Musa paradisiaca var. sapientum L.) using preparation of Thin Layer Cromatography method. Identification of absorbance value of saponin was done in maximum wave length using UV-Vis spectrophotometer. Methanol extract of Ambon banana trunk was obtained by maceration. Saponinsis said to be contained in banana trunk if the foam formed is stablewith the height of2-3 cmhighfor 30secondsin the addition ofone drop ofhydrochloricacid2Nandcolor testLiebermannBurchard(LB) whichproducesbrownringindicatestriterpenesaponin.Resultsofisolationusingeluentchloroform: methanol: water (13:7:2) gave the greenstainspotsonsilicagelplatessprayedwith reagentLBso it is saidthat the samplealso containssteroidalsaponinstypeswith Rfvalue of0.275; 0.325; 0.375.Based on theresults ofidentification usingultravioletvisiblespectrophotometry, absorbance valuewas2.754saponinat209nmmaximum wavelength. Abstract

Prescription can reduce the administrative / prevent dangerous medication errors, withadverse effects on patients by the drugs used during the management of health care. This studyis aimed to evaluate the administrative prescriptions by examining the possibility of medicationerrors by a Pediatricians at three pharmacies in the city of Manado. This is a descriptive studyconducted a retrospective review of patient prescriptions. The method of sampling took randomreceipts using the Slovin formula. 12,225 receipts was vised in the three pharmacy and found338 sheets sample of prescription from period of January to December 2011 then processed andevaluated administrative completeness. Administrative completeness prescription written by apediatrician at the Manado City Permit Practice (11.37%), Address patients (53.7%), Gender(0%), weight loss (27.5%), Age (78 , 3%), date prescription (98.4%) and to mark the R /, DoctorName, Address Doctor, Initials Doctor, Patient Name, Drug Name, Dosage, Number of Drugs,How to use a clear (100%). From these data we can conclude the potential occurrence ofmedication errors and can not find any recipes that meet the screening criteria for theprescription paperwork based on the Decree of the Minister of Healthno.:1027/MENKES/SK/1X/2004.Keywords: Administrative Complete Receipts, Receipts Pediatrician, Medication Error
