Abstract

Adolescents with physical disabilities also undergo a transitional period during adolescence, requiring assistance to achieve emotional maturity appropriate for their age. This necessitates support from the immediate environment, which can be obtained through parents. The aim of this study is to investigate the relationship between parental attachment and emotional maturity in adolescents with physical disabilities. The participants in this study were 56 adolescents with physical disabilities in the city of Salatiga, aged between 11 and 20 years. The sampling technique used in this study was snowball sampling. Data collection utilized the Inventory of Parent Attachment, consisting of sections on attachment to the mother and attachment to the father, and the second scale employed the Emotional Maturity Scale (EMS). The results of this study indicate a significant positive relationship between attachment to parents and emotional maturity, with a correlation of r = 0.452 and significance of 0.000 (p<0.05). This means that the higher the level of secure attachment to parents, the higher the emotional maturity in adolescents with physical disabilities. The findings of this study can be used to develop interventions for specialized educational institutions for individuals with disabilities and serve as a reference for readers.

Abstract

This study investigates the effectiveness of a hiking game technique group guidance module aimed at enhancing self-resilience among adolescents, a critical response to the challenge of juvenile delinquency exacerbated by insufficient educational and environmental support systems. Through a structured development process influenced by the Borg & Gall model, this research integrates experiential learning with character education, providing adolescents with the tools to navigate physical, cognitive, and emotional challenges. The module, which underwent rigorous validation by experts in guidance and counseling, is structured around activities that foster teamwork, problem-solving, and emotional management, thus proving effective in promoting resilience and character development in young individuals. The study's findings demonstrate the module's appropriateness and efficacy, suggesting that outdoor educational activities can be a vital part of contemporary educational strategies to address the multifaceted needs of adolescents, especially in promoting mental health and behavioral adjustment. This approach aligns with the goals of strengthening character education through practical, real-world applications, although the COVID-19 pandemic posed limitations to direct field testing.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between forgiveness and subjective well-being among parents of children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD). Using a quantitative correlational approach, the research aims to determine whether forgiveness significantly impacts the subjective well-being of these parents. The study involved 43 participants from SLBN 1 Palangka Raya, who completed questionnaires measuring forgiveness (Heartland Forgiveness Scale) and subjective well-being (SAPAN and SWLS scales). Descriptive statistics revealed high levels of forgiveness and subjective well-being among participants. However, Pearson correlation analysis indicated no significant relationship between the two variables. This suggests that while parents exhibit high forgiveness, it does not necessarily translate to increased life satisfaction or emotional balance. Subjective well-being is influenced by multiple factors, including gratitude, personality, self-esteem, spirituality, and social support. The study highlights the need for further research to explore these additional factors and address limitations such as incomplete samples and participant confusion during data collection. These insights are crucial for supporting the psychological well-being of parents with children who have special needs.

Abstract

This study evaluates the effectiveness of Social Skills Training (SST) on improving social interactions and reducing psychological symptoms in individuals with schizophrenia by comparing pre-test and post-test scores of control and experimental groups. The quasi-experimental research, using a static group comparison design, involved five male post-hospitalized schizophrenia patients aged 19-40 in Nganjuk Regency. The experimental group received SST, while the control group did not. Results from paired sample t-tests indicated no significant change in the control group but showed significant improvement in the experimental group, with post-test scores significantly lower than pre-test scores (p < 0.05). Independent sample t-tests confirmed no significant difference in pre-test scores between groups, but post-test scores revealed significant differences, affirming SST's positive impact. The SST intervention, comprising sessions on communication, friendship, joint activities, handling difficult situations, expressing opinions, and family psychoeducation, significantly enhanced social skills and reduced negative responses. These findings highlight SST as an effective intervention for individuals with mental health issues, promoting better social interactions and reducing relapse rates, thereby supporting its integration into therapeutic practices.

Abstract

This study explores the relationship between self-compassion and flourishing among nursing staff at RSUD Salatiga. Utilizing a quantitative correlational design, data were collected from 131 nurses through purposive sampling and analyzed using Pearson's Product Moment Correlation. The self-compassion and flourishing variables were measured using the Self Compassion Scale Short Form (SCS-SF) and PERMA profiler, respectively. Results indicated a significant positive correlation (r = 0.266, p = 0.002), with self-compassion contributing 7.1% to the variance in flourishing. Descriptive statistics revealed that 33.6% of participants had high self-compassion, and 62.6% had very high flourishing. Most participants were women (80.2%) and adults aged 20-40 years (56.5%), groups typically associated with higher flourishing levels. The findings underscore the importance of self-compassion in enhancing nurses' well-being, supporting previous research on its role in emotional regulation, stress reduction, and overall mental health. Despite administrative challenges, this study offers valuable insights into promoting self-compassion to improve the quality of patient care in healthcare settings.

Abstract

Since the advent of the Industrial Revolution 4.0, education has gained significant attention from academics and practitioners. The transformative initiatives introduced by Indonesia's Minister of Education and Culture, Nadiem Makarim, have reshaped the educational landscape, particularly through the "Merdeka Belajar" (Freedom to Learn) program. This qualitative study, utilizing a descriptive approach, investigates the use of assessments by school counselors (BK teachers) and their implementation in guidance and counseling services. The research involved 11 informants, including school principals, BK teachers, and students, selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using observations, interviews, and documentation, and analyzed following Miles & Huberman's methodology. Findings reveal that while BK teachers follow structured steps in using assessments, they face challenges such as the lack of standardized instruments, limited time, and inadequate technological integration. Despite these obstacles, BK teachers strive to improve their practices by effectively communicating assessment results, integrating technology, and implementing actionable insights. The study underscores the necessity for better resources and applications to support the effective use of assessments. Assessments are crucial for understanding students' strengths and needs, providing tailored guidance, and facilitating academic, social, and emotional development. This data-driven approach enhances early problem identification, informed interventions, and the development of students' unique potentials. The study concludes that effective assessment implementation, supported by a positive school environment and adequate resources, is vital for enhancing the quality of guidance and counseling services, ultimately contributing to improved educational outcomes and student well-being.

Abstract

Given the increasing prevalence of impulsive buying behavior among football supporters, understanding the underlying social influences becomes crucial for effective intervention. This study examines the relationship between conformity and impulsive buying behavior among football supporters in Salatiga. Using a quantitative correlational design, data was collected from 106 participants via an online questionnaire distributed through social media. The findings reveal a significant positive relationship between conformity and impulsive buying, with 49.1% of participants exhibiting high conformity and 55.7% displaying high impulsive buying behavior. The effective contribution of conformity to impulsive buying was 82%, indicating that peer pressure and social dynamics significantly influence buying behavior. The study suggests that counselors should develop targeted interventions to help individuals manage conformity pressures, enhance self-awareness, and make more rational purchasing decisions. The research highlights the need for financial literacy education and supportive group counseling sessions to address the psychological and practical aspects of impulsive buying. However, the study's limitations include its focus on a specific demographic and potential biases in self-reported data, necessitating further research to generalize the findings.

Abstract

This study investigates the relationship between learning motivation and academic self-efficacy among undergraduate psychology students from the 2020 cohort at Universitas Kristen Satya Wacana, focusing on those with a GPA of 3.00 or higher. Utilizing a quantitative correlational design, data was collected via a Google Form questionnaire distributed through WhatsApp from October 29, 2023, to April 24, 2024. Despite challenges in data collection, the study revealed that the majority of participants exhibited low levels of both learning motivation and academic self-efficacy. Descriptive statistics showed a mean learning motivation score of 37.07 and an academic self-efficacy score of 86.83. The correlation analysis indicated a significant positive relationship (r = 0.590, p < 0.05) between learning motivation and academic self-efficacy, suggesting that higher learning motivation corresponds to higher academic self-efficacy and vice versa. The findings emphasize the importance of enhancing both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation, building mastery experiences, and ensuring students' physical and emotional well-being to foster better academic outcomes. These insights have crucial implications for counseling and guidance services, advocating for targeted interventions to improve learning motivation and academic self-efficacy among students.

Abstract

This study explores the correlation between overprotective parenting and adolescent adjustment in an Indonesian educational context, focusing specifically on SMA Negeri 1 Ambon. Utilizing a quantitative research design with correlation analysis, the study examines how adolescents aged 10-18 navigate changes during the transition from childhood, especially in terms of their adaptability and independence. The influence of familial, school, and societal environments on these developments is assessed through purposive sampling of 110 students, using scales that measure overprotective behaviors and personal adjustment. Findings from the study reveal a statistically significant but weak negative correlation between overprotective parenting and adolescent adjustment, indicating that while parental involvement is crucial, excessive control can undermine adolescents' ability to adapt to their environments effectively. This study underscores the complex dynamics between parental behavior and adolescent development, suggesting that balanced parenting is key to fostering responsible and adaptable youths.

Abstract

In recent years, K-Pop has become a global sensation, especially in Indonesia, where it has a massive fan base on social media. While K-Pop brings joy to many, it has also raised concerns about its impact on body image, especially among young fans known as K-Popers. This study explores how young women who are fans of K-Pop feel about their bodies. Through interviews and observations, three participants—Yerin, Joy, and Rose—shared their thoughts. Despite K-Pop's influence on beauty standards, these women have a positive body image. They feel good about themselves and focus on self-confidence rather than what others think. Their stories show how they navigate societal pressures and find acceptance for their bodies. By prioritizing self-esteem and support from friends, they maintain a positive outlook despite external beauty ideals. This research sheds light on how K-Pop fans view their bodies and offers insights into promoting body positivity. It's important for researchers and others to continue exploring these issues to create a more accepting environment for everyone to feel good about themselves.
