Abstract

Environmental sustainability issues must be disclosed to youths as early as possible to preserve and conserve the environment through formal and informal education. To date, there needs to be more local studies on interventions that encourage positive and behavioral changes that can improve their understanding, knowledge, attitude, and practices toward environmental sustainability. Environmental education intervention is one of the approaches that can be implemented to achieve this goal. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of an environmental education intervention on environmental sustainability among youths. This study was a one-group quasi-experimental study. This study recruited two hundred youths, and the data was collected pre and post-intervention. Respondents in the intervention received an environmental education package (i.e., environmental-based education talk supported with pamphlets and small group discussions). The paired t-test was used to determine the differences between the pre and post-intervention. The study showed a statistically significant difference in pre and post-intervention in understanding, knowledge, attitude, and practices toward environmental sustainability (p < .005). Hence, the environmental education intervention was proven to be effective in increasing environmental sustainability and could serve as an intervention tool among youths in Malaysia to improve environmental protection and conservation.

Abstract

The increasing of State Islamic Universities (PTKIN) in Aceh is contradictory with the minimum interest of Acehnese to study at PTKIN. This phenomenon shows an anomaly in Acehnese religiosity level. This paper aimed to seek Higher Education (HE) marketing strategies in Aceh and to describe the reason for Acehnese low interest in PTKIN. A mixed method was used in this research; meanwhile, an explanatory sequential design was chosen to be the research design. This research was done in 3 PTKIN and 3 State Universities (PTU) in Aceh, where 60 Acehnese students were chosen as respondents. Besides quantitative data, qualitative research was done by interviewing, observing, and studying documentation to get more information. The result showed that the products (departments and accreditation) significantly affected students' interest in HE. This article suggested that PTKIN add more departments to present many choices for society as a place to study at a high education level.

Abstract

The status of Mongolia’s tourism industry is related to the level of participation of residents and, first of all, their positive and negative perceptions of the impact of tourism. As they are an irreplaceable stakeholder in tourism, they are generally moving towards an approach that involves them in participatory tourism activities. The basic understanding of local people in Mongolia about the impact of tourism, their distinguishing features, and the interrelationship between the effects aims to explain that local people are essential participants in tourism. The survey was conducted in 2021 using a random sampling method with four groups of 10 each and a total of 40 closed-ended questionnaires related to the TDA. A total of 4415 residents participated. As a result of the research, local people perceived the impact of economic, social, cultural, environmental, state, and administrative activities caused by the TDA differently as positive and negative, and these effects were found to be positively and strongly correlated. The current average level of knowledge of residents about the impact of tourism proves that “residents” have become one of the leading players in tourism, and in the future, the concept of “participatory” tourism should be reflected in development plans.

Abstract

There are several studies to answer the question of why consumers make purchases of counterfeit luxury goods. However, researchers have not studied the impact of consumer’s personal and social factors on purchasing counterfeit luxury products yet. The current study examines how consumers’ personal (face and public self-consciousness) and social factors (informative and normative suspective) influence their purchase intention towards counterfeit luxury products. Quantitative research methodology was used to measure consumers’ buying behavior of counterfeit luxury products by conducting an online survey of 254 consumers. The collected data were further analyzed by SPSS-28 and SMART-PLS 4 software. The findings indicate that social factors, such as informational susceptibility, strongly influence the purchase intention of counterfeit luxury products. Furthermore, consumer personal factors such as public self and face consciousness significantly influence fake luxury product purchasing intention. This study has implications for firms that import luxury goods and policymakers responsible for creating policies and marketing plans to deter consumers from buying counterfeit luxury goods.

Abstract

This study explores the principles and methods used by the al-Qur'an in criminalizing. The method used in this research is a library method with primary data obtained from the al-Qur'an and secondary data obtained from the tafsīr books, hadith ahkām, jinayāt books, and literature on criminal law, criminology, victimology, and relevant previous research findings. The result found that the principles used by the al-Qur'an in criminalizing an act are the principles of benefit, prevention, material legality, and transcendental principles. Two methods of criminalization are used: (1) the texts of the al-Qur'an and the Hadith itself, which state that this action must be punished; (2) determined in one of three ways. (a) al-Qur'an and Hadith stipulate that this act is hazardous for society; (b) based on common sense considerations that the act could disturb public order; and (c) the act constitutes a preliminary offense for a more significant and more dangerous offense. Furthermore, it is found that the variant of the ta'zīr offense includes offenses that are related to morality, sexual crimes, crimes against religion, crimes against the body, crimes against property, crimes related to family/descent, disturbing public order, environmental crime, fraud and forgery, and traffic offense.

Abstract

This research focused on how technology could help improve local government performance. There are five factors in assessing the IT capacity of information; security, financial support, legislative support, and commitment to the organization. Many variables affect the ability to support the five characteristics. The population of this study was all work units responsible for the local government's performance in Sumbawa Regency, West Nusa Tenggara Province, Indonesia. The sample was randomly selected to assess the effect of e-government in improving local government performance. Every year the work unit must report to the region. Regression analysis was employed in this study by using SEM-PLS software. The data showed that the variables of executive competence, financial Support, information security, legislative Support, and organizational commitment affected information capacity by 59.4%. The function of e-government in improving local government performance must be realized. For e-government to improve the performance of local governments, the two provincial/central governments must conduct socialization with local governments. Limitations of the study included the limited sample size, which might not represent the original status of citizens, and the short study period.

Abstract

The implementation of Islamic Sharia in Aceh has experienced dynamics since it was first implemented in early 2000—the presence of pro and contra attitudes from the community towards the interpretation and existence of Islamic Sharia. As a result, a model for resolving sharia violations based on local values often emerges. This study departs from the central question of why the people of Aceh often choose local deals in determining several breaches of Islamic law in society. This study seeks to analyze the resolution of violations of Islamic law in the border areas of Aceh with local consensus values. The phrase border Aceh refers to a multi-identity place (ethnicity and religion). This study combines two concepts between local wisdom and Islamic law. The research method uses a qualitative approach with grounded research. The study results show that people who live on the border of Aceh, especially several districts on the West Coast of Aceh, often choose a local (non-Sharia) approach in cases of violations of Islamic Sharia. Settlements with local values are considered more readily accepted by the community. Interestingly, this study found that the role of local wisdom can also reduce the number of violations of Islamic law in the border communities of Aceh.
