Abstract

This study aim is to analyze the effect of training and competence on motivation of women entrepreneurs with mediation of organizational culture which has been rarely studied. This research will fill this gap by conducting research on women entrepreneurs in Indonesia. The uniqueness of this study is the first study to examine micro and small women entrepreneurs in East Java, Indonesia. The samples are 100 respondents. Data was collected by questionnaire that measured by 5-point Likert scale. The data obtained is  analyzedby path analysis with SPSS version 21 software.The results showed that the training and competence directly have positive and significant effects on organizational culture. The results also indicate that training, competencies and organizational culture directly have positive and significant effects on motivation of female entrepreneurs.The calculation of the indirect effect indicate that organizational culture mediates the effect of training and competence on motivation of female entrepreneurs

Abstract

Entrepreneurial intentions among undergraduates students need more indepth study to reveal entrepreneurial intention formation model, intention determinant variables, and how those variables interact each other in  the intention formation process and intention strength level. Personal attitudes and social norms are the most important variable influencing entrepreneurial intentions, besides perceived behavioral control. These three variables are the most important entrepreneurial intentions determinant variable  that each are directly influenced by personal beliefs. Prior research show gender gaps in entrepreneurial activity and there is a significant different entrepreneurial intentions formation process between gender. Entrepreneurship educations are aimed to change all personal beliefs to be more positive to entrepreneurial activity so we could find strong entrepreneurial intentions  among undergraduate students. Empirical test show that entrepreneurship education significantly influence personal attitude dan perceived behavior control to be more favorable in developing entrepreneurship education. Female students tend to value more on non monetary entrepreneurial benefits than male student. Entrepreneurship education strengthen each gender’ tendency to value more what they initially believe.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to explore the growing trend of outward foreign direct investments (OFDIs) from developing countries to developed countries. Market-seeking and strategic asset explorations are the main motivations for conducting OFDIs in developed countries. Meanwhile, cross-border greenfield investments and cross-border mergers and acquisitions are the main entry strategies used by developing countries when penetrating the developed markets. Finally, this paper reveals mixed results about the explaining ability of John Dunning’s International Development Path (IDP) theory on the patterns of selected developing markets' OFDIs to developed countries. On the one hand, China’s OFDIs follow the paths in the IDP theory. On the other hand, those of India do not confirm so.

Abstract

Environmental issue such as global warming become highlight issue in the world. Some environmental issue pointed out as the effect of consumer behavioural which ignored the effect of purchasing to the environmental conservation. For this time environmental issue becoming the important factor for consumer in considering product choosing, even in choosing diapers. This study aims to examine the influence of value orientations on ecological knowledge and ecological affect. This research also aims to investigate the influence of ecological knowledge on ecological affect, also to investigate the influence of ecological knowledge, ecological affect, internal locus of control on green purchase intention. Sampling method is nonprobability sampling with purposive sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire survey. The  sample in this study consisted of 229 women aged over 17 years old and who have children aged 0 to 24 months in Yogyakarta. The study was based on confirmatory model. Structural equation modeling (SEM) by using AMOS  statistical  program  used  to  test  validity  and  reliability  of  the  instrument,  the goodness of fit model and the relationship hypothesized in the theoretical model proposed. Findings from structural models have proved nearly all the hypothesized relationships. This study reveals that value orientations has a positive effect on ecological knowledge but the effect of value orientations on ecological affect is not supported. Ecological knowledge has a positive effect on ecological affect. Ecological knowledge and internal locus of control has a positive effect on green purchase intention, but the effect of ecological affect on green purchase intentions is not supported.

Abstract

The aim of this paper is to briefly explain and analyse the association between entrepreneurship and development theories. It will exploit Schumpeter’s idea on economic development, especially on entrepreneurship as the main engine of that development process. It will also describe the reality of entrepreneurship in developing countries and discuss issues on the development of entrepreneurship study found in Indonesia as a case study. At the end, the paper concluded that a cultural study that link western theories of development and entrepreneurship with the unique cultural realities that exist only in developing countries is important.

Abstract

Businesses faces with important and rapid changes. This rapid change in the business environment forces the organizations to change their operations and structures. Adopting these changes fast and contionus renewal of both employees and organizations help organizations reach the set goals and survive in the competitive market. To be accomplished in competition, companies need well trained and well developed employees from front employees to the top level managers in the executive suite. Moreover, training process must gain continuity. Especially, in Pharmaceutical Industry, due to the fast and rapid changes and improvements concerning the regulations and procedures of Ministery of Health, guidelines such as GMP (Good Manufacturing Practises), GLP (Good Laboratory Practises), GDP (Good Documentation Practises) etc. employees who are working should be trained and updated about the current knowledge to increase the efficiency in the organization. Vice versa, organizations can not raise their competition power in order to exist and develop themselves. To sum up, globalization, fast changes in regulations and procedures and also technological shifts lead to changes even in organizations. In order to cope with these changes, companies need to train their employees. The main purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of training on employee efficiency. Research is carried out with 74 employees from a pharmaceutical company in İstanbul, Turkey. The results of the study support the hypotheses. There’s a significant difference between white collar and blue collar employees on the idea of efficiency of training in the area of career development, area of productivity, professional growth and customer satisfaction.

Abstract

National culture theory proponents have argued that due to differences in national cultures, expectations and preferences differ and this affect prioritizations in value systems. However, the authentic leadership (AL) theory presents an authentic leader as honest, transparent and behaves with integrity regardless of culture. By presenting AL this way, the proponents of the AL theory are discounting the effects of contexts/culture in the subjective interpretations and prioritizations of individuals in explaining constructs and concepts. This study, therefore, explored and compared the preferred authentic leadership attributes from leaders' and followers' perspectives using respondents from a Ghanaian university and a New Zealand university. The Q method was used to gather information from 60 respondents, 30 in each university. The findings show that the subjects, though in different cultural contexts, have some common shared preferences for certain authentic leadership attributes. However, there were some attributes that were country specific. This suggests that though certain authentic leadership attributes are universal whereas some are context specific and therefore in defining authenticity in leadership context specific preferences cannot be overlooked. The findings of study apart from being useful in the design of training programs to training practicing and upcoming leaders in universities, has also contributed a cross cultural dimension of authentic leadership attributes to the authentic leadership theory.

Abstract

Citizen Business Loan (CBL) constitutes a program poverty alleviation based on economic empowerment of small and medium enterprise. This study focuses on implementation of CBL at Regional Development Bank branch X. The problem is the existing of interdependencies between CBL’s implements (Bank) and the uncertainty of debtor’s capability in returning the credit. The impact of this circumstance is non-performing loan (NPL) becomes relatively high (22%). The ultimate objective is to minimize NPL by designing the model based on the agent that can represent the problem through a simulation using agent-based modeling and simulation (ABMS). The model is considered by managing the probability of the debtor to pay or not based on 5 C categories, they are: character, capacity, capital, condition, and collateral that inherent to each debtor. There are two improvement scenarios proposed in this model. The first scenario only involves the first category of debtor in simulation. The result of this scenario is NPL value as 0%. The second scenario includes the first and second of debtor’s category in simulation and resulting NPL value between 4.6% and 11.4%.

Abstract

Lack of consumer willingness to adopt electronic toll card in Jakarta triger the congestion at the toll gates. This congestion has been one of the critical factors that needs to be more focused by PT Jasa Marga as  highway toll service company. The fact shows that only 5.88% of all the total transactions in the toll gates applied E-toll card facility. These facts provide evidence about the lack of consumer willingness to adopt E-Toll card. Therefore, the understanding of consumer behavior to adopt sevice innovation is necessary to solve these lack of consumer unwillingness. This study was developed by replicated the research of Lee (2012) that reveal the antecedents factors that affect the consumer intention to adopt service innovation. Respondents of this research were 217 students from a private university in Tangerang. Respondent were collected by using judgemental sampling based on their experience in using E-toll card. The survey instrument employed demographic background, consumer attitude, perceived ease of use, perceived price fairness, satisfaction with existing service, fashion consciousness, risk averseness and consumer intention to adopt service innovation. Structural equation modeling (SEM) was applied to analyze the data. Result indicated that consumer attitude, perceived ease of use, satisfaction with existing service, risk averseness, and fashion consciousness are the predictors of consumer intention to adopt service innovation. This research also provides the theoretical implication, managerial implication, and suggestion for future research.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to observe the effect of the age of the organization department in Padang State University on performance through human capital, structural capital and relational capital. The sample is all of department in Padang State University, which is 33 departments. The data were collected through questionnaires and analyzed using partial least squares (PLS). The results showed that the age of the department is not direct and significant impact on the department performance. While the age departments significantly affect the department's human capital, structural capital and relational capital. Furthermore, the human capital, structural capital and relational capital significantly positive affect the department performance. This research failed to prove the existence of variable human capital, structural capital and relational capital as a mediating variable but serves as an intervening variable. Its means that age of department performance cannot determine performance without increasing the human capital, structural capital and relational capital.
