Abstract

Bandengan waters have the potential to serve as a marine tourism area, its sustainability has to be preserved. Optimal utilization of Bandengan waters can provide benefits not only to the environment but also to the economic improvement of the community. Efforts to optimize marine tourism in Bandengan waters were conducted by reviewing area management alternatives to preserve and improve the welfare of the commu­nity. This study aims to analyze the alternative management of the marine tourism area using A'WOT analysis which is a combined analysis of SWOT and AHP (Analytical Hierarchy Process) to establish strategies and to determine alternative management on marine tourism in Bandengan waters. Based on A'WOT analysis obtained alternatives to manage marine tourism area which consists of spatial planning based on biophysical parameters, spatial planning based on the carrying capacity of the environment, increasing public and tourist awareness to cleanliness, improving both the quantity and quality of infrastructure, and the making of legis­lation. The recommended alternative management is basically aimed to preserve the marine tourism in Bandengan waters and to improve the people's welfare. Pemanfaatan perairan Bandengan secara optimal dapat memberikan manfaat tidak hanya terhadap lingkungan tetapi juga terhadap peningkatan ekonomi masyarakat. Upaya untuk meng­optimalkan wisata bahari di perairan Bandengan dilakukan pengkajian terhadap alternatif pengelolaan ka­wasan menjaga kelestarian dan meningkatkan kesejahteraan masyarakat. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisa alternatif pengelolaan kawasan wisata bahari dengan menggunakan analisa A’WOT yaitu ga­bungan analisa SWOT dan PHA untuk menetapkan strategi dan menentukan alternatif pengelolaan kawasan wisata bahari di Perairan Bandengan. Berdasarkan analisa A’WOT diperoleh alternatif pengelolaan kawasan wisata bahari yang terdiri dari penataan ruang berdasarkan parameter biofisik, penataan ruang berdasarkan daya dukung lingkungan, peningkatan kesadaran masyarakat dan wisatawan terhadap kebersihan, peningkatan infrastruktur baik kuantitas maupun kualitas, serta pembuatan peraturan perundang-undangan. Alternatif pengelolaan yang dihasilkan pada dasarnya bertujuan untuk menjaga kelestarian kawasan wisata bahari di perairan Bandengan dan meningkatkan  kesejahteraan masyarakat Bandengan. Abstract

The role of Tondano watershed is very important for the people of North Sulawesi. It can be said as the heart of the economy for the people who live suround it. One of them is the existence of aquaculture business activities in the form of fixed cage. It was found that Tondano watershed has shown an alarming decline in function. There are several causes, one of which is the increasing volume of plastic waste. The house wife group is important in its role in maintaining the sustainability of Tondano watershed. This group is believed to be one of the leaders for removing plastic waste in Tondano watershed.Keyword: Tondano watershed, plastic waste, housewife group, sustainability ABSTRAKWilayah DAS Tondano sangat penting peranannya bagi masyarakat Sulawesi Utara.  Dapat dikatakan sebagai jantungnya perekonomian bagi masyarakat yang hidup di sekitarnya.  Salah satu di antaranya adalah adanya kegiatan usaha akuakultur dalam bentuk karamba jaring tancap. Ditemukan fungsi DAS Tondano telah menunjukkan adanya penurunan yang mengkuatirkan. Ada beberapa penyebab, salah satunya adalah meningkatnya volume limbah plastik. Kelompok ibu RT penting dalam perannya menjaga keberlanjutan DAS Tondano.  Kelompok ini dipercaya dapat menjadi salah satu ujung tombak untuk mengentas limbah plastik di DAS Tondano.Keyword: DAS Tondano, limbah plastik, kelompok ibu RT, keberlanjutan

Abstract

This research was conducted to identify the presence of Vibrio sp. at the gonads of fresh and smoked skipjack tuna.  The method used in this research is descriptive method with the parameters examined, ie total bacteria, total Vibrio, morphology and biochemical tests.  Results showed that the total value of Vibrio in fresh skipjack tuna gonad highest TVC 1.1x105/g and the lowest is 2.0x103 TVC/gr.  While the smoke skipjack tuna gonad bacterial growth does not occur.  The identification results found 43 strains of Vibrio sp., (7 strains), Vibrio fluvialis (2 strains), Vibrio cincinnatiensis (4 strains), Vibrio damsela (2 strains), Vibrio metschnikovii (1 strain) and 27 other strains was not identified.

Abstract

Pearl oysters, Pinctada maxima, are known as South Sea Pearl. Breeding is an important factor in intensive culture pearl oyster. In breeding, spawning became determining factor. The purpose of this research was to understand the effect of temperature decrease on the spawning level and to compare the treatment of water temperature decrease and increase on spawning level of pearl oyster P. maxima. The result showed that temperature decrease treatment influenced the success of the spawning level. Both water temperature decrease and increase had similar effect on the spawning level of the pearl oyster.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the diversity of Echinoderms in Paranti Beach, Rainis District, Talaud Islands Regency, North Sulawesi Province. The method used was purposive random sampling and quadrat plot of 20 plots measuring 1m x 1m. Data analysis used diversity index Shannon and Wienner, value index, density, frequency and dominance index. The results of the study were found on the coast of Parantin Beach, namely; 27 species from 4 classes of Echinodermata which include the class Asteroidea (starfish), Echinodea (sea urchins), the class Holothuroidea (Teripang) and the class Ophioroidea (Star snake). Diversity index value on the coast of Paranti, namely at Station I (0.40); Station II (1.56) and at Station III (1.50). This number shows that the diversity of Echinoderms in Paranti Beach at Station I is relatively low and that for Station II and III are abundant.Keywords: Diversity, Echinodermata, Talaud Islands Regency ABSTRAKPenelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis keanekaragaman Echinodermata di Pantai Paranti, Kecamatan Rainis, Kabupaten Kepulauan Talaud provinsi Sulawesi Utara. Metode yang digunakan adalah purposive random sampling dan petak kuadrat sebanyak 20 petakyang berukuran 1m x 1m. Analisi data yang digunakan indeks diversitas Shanon dan Wienner, indeks nilai pentinh, Kepadatan, frekuensi dan indeks dominansi. Hasil penelitian ditemukan dipesisir Pantai Parantin yaitu; 27 spesies dari 4 kelas Echinodermata yang termasuk yaitu kelas Asteroidea (bintang laut), Echinodea (Bulu babi), kelas Holothuroidea (Teripang) dan kelas Ophioroidea (Bintang ular). Nilai indeks Keanekaragaman di pantai Paranti yaitu pada Stasiun I (0,40); Stasiun II (1,56) dan pada Stasiun III (1,50). Jumlah ini menunjukan bahwa Keanekaragaman Echinodermata di Pantai Paranti pada Stasiun I tergolong rendah dan untuk Stasiun II dan III sedang melimpah.Kata kunci: Keanekaragaman, Echinodermata, Kabupaten Kepulauan Talaud

Abstract

Dengue haemorrhagie fever is one of the disease which caused by dengue virus. It spreads out by mosquito Aedes aegypti as the vector. To date, people use abate as the larvacidal.  Yet it causes the negative effects, such as bad odor, rustiness of the water container and resistency either to the larvae or to the living environment if continue using it. The objective of the research was to examine the larvacidal activity of Didemnum molle extract against A. aegypti larvae. The sample was extracted with methanol to give methanolic extract which was further partitioned with ethyl acetate, hexane, and chloroform to yield three fractions of ethyl acetate, hexane, and chloroform. Methanolic extract and the three fractions were tested against the A. aegypti larvae instar III for several concentrations. Abate and tap water were used as controls. The result exhibited that Didemnum molle extracts contain or produce larvacidae substances against A. aegypti larvae. They are approved by the data of methanolic extract and the 3 fractions which are more powerful than abate, particularly hexane. However it still needs to be purified to obtain single active compound.

Abstract

The study was aimed at knowing the feasibility of the waters of Dodinga Bay for seaweed; Kappaphycus alvarezii culture development.  The study used a survey method covering aquatic physical, chemical and biological parameters.  Result showed that physical, chemical and biological parameters fulfilled the criteria for the seaweed growth. Based on the suitability of the water used in this study, Dodinga Bay waters was categorized as S-2 class or having median suitability criteria, i.e. the water possessed moderate threshold for seaweed culture or had animal effect on the aquatic environmental quality, and could still be utilized for seaweed culture development under several technical prerequisites. Keywords: Kappaphycus alvarezii, seaweed culture development.   Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kelayakan perairan untuk pengembangan budidaya rumput laut Kappaphycus alvarezii di Pantai Dodinga.  Penelitian ini menggunakan metode survei meliputi parameter fisik, kimia dan biologi perairan.  Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa parameter fisik, kimia dan biologi memenuhi kriteria untuk pertumbuhan rumput laut.  Berdasarkan kesesuaian air yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini, perairan Teluk Dodinga dikategorikan kelas S-2 atau memiliki kriteria kesesuaian median, yaitu perairan yang memiliki batas moderat untuk budidaya rumput laut atau kurang berpengaruh pada kualitas lingkungan air, dan masih bisa dimanfaatkan untuk pengembangan budidaya rumput laut di bawah beberapa prasyarat teknis. Kata kunci: Kappaphycus alvarezii, pengembangan budidaya rumput laut.

Abstract

Salah satu faktor yang mempengaruhi efektivitas dan efisiensi adalah penggunaan tenaga mesin (HP) dalam kegiatan penangkapan ikan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara mesin utama (HP) dan kecepatan kapal (v), mengestimasi kekuatan pendorong berdasarkan ukuran dan kecepatan kapal, serta menentukan kategori berdasarkan kecepatan kapal.  Penelitian terhadap kapal motor (KM) Maestro purse seine di Desa Kema III, Kabupaten Minahasa Utara, Sulawesi Utara memperlihatkan bahwa hubungan antara tenaga mesin (HP) dan kecepatan kapal (knot) mengikuti model persamaan matematis sebagai berikut: v (knot) = 13,05-6322 * exp (-0,000117 * (HP) ^ 1.715). dan (2). Hasil estimasi di lapangan menunjukkan bahwa kecepatan kapal (knot) berdasarkan jumlah putaran mesin (rpm) dan tenaga mesin (HP) yang mengkategorikan kapal kecepatan tinggi. Kata kunci: mesin, horse power, kecepatan, kapal pukat cincin.   One of the factors that influence the effectiveness and efficiency of fishing activities is the use of power of the engine (HP) in fishing activities. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between the main engine (HP) and speed of the vessel (v), and to estimate of propulsion power based on size and speed of the ship, as well as to identify the category based on her speed. The study on the Maestro purse seiner in Kema III village, North Minahasa regency, North Sulawesi, showed that the elationship between the power engine (HP) and speed of the ship (knots) followed a mathematical equation model: v (knots) = 13.05-6322 * exp (-0.000117 * (HP) ^ 1,715), and (2). The estimation in the field showed that ship speed (knots), based on the amount of the engine speed (rpm) and power engine (HP), could be categorized as high speed. Abstract

One of potential fishing grounds for small pelagic fish in Southeast Mallucas Regency is Rosenberg Strait waters. In this region, a study on the effect of different light intensities of floating lift net on fish catches was carried out. The analyses were done on light distribution of 4 light intensities different: Petromaks Lamp and Underwater Lamps of each 18 watt, 36 watt and 54 watt. This study showed that catches of floating lift net using different light intensities were statistically significantly different. The use of 36 watt and 54 watt underwater lamp yielded the same amount of catches but higher than that of 18 watt-underwater lamp and petromaks, both in number and species. Catches consisted of 17 species, 16 fishs and 1 mollusca. Number of species and size also varied with light intensity used. There were 13 fishs species dominated by Stolephorus indicus as much as 46.9 kg or 22% for petromaks catches, 14 fishs species dominated by Rastrelliger kanagurata as much as 64 kg (31%) for 18 watt underwater lamp, 17 fishs species dominated by Rastrelliger kanagurata as much as 76 kg (28%) for 36 watt underwater lamp, and 15 fishs species dominated by Stolephorus devisi as much as 54.8 kg (22%) for 54 watt underwater lamp, respectively. Based on the results, it is recommended that the use of light intensity in fishing operations of floating lift net should be 36 watt and 54 watt underwater lamps, due to high catches, both in number and species. Beside that, since light fishing has also caught illegal fish size, number of this fishing gear type should be controlled.

Abstract

ABSTRACTBentenan village, located on the East coast of Minahasa peninsula and surrounded by gently sloping hills, has a shoreline of 1.3 km. The shape of the shoreline is curved facing Bentenan Island. It is observed that coastline had been gradually retreating. Research and data collection on the coastline has been conducted in November 2008. As many as 85 points have been plotted using GPS, rectified with LPI maps and compared with a couple of old maps, i.e., Peta Dishidros Lembar 334 1992 and Peta Laut No. 62 1985. Shoreline of Bentenan village shown to be retreated 165 meters in average towards the mainland from 1985 to 2008 (23 years), averaging a decrease of 7.17 meters. This indicates that the shore of Bentenan undergoes a process of erosion/ abrasion which causes changes in shoreline backwards towards the land, also called beach retreat.Keywords: Bentenan, shorelines, Abrasion, beach retreat, geomorphology.ABSTRAKDesa Bentenan memiliki panjang garis pantai sekitar 1,3 km, terletak di pantai Timur semenanjung Minahasa yang bertopografi landai dan dikelilingi oleh perbukitan. Bentuk pantainya melekuk ke dalam dan di bagian depannya terdapat pulau Bentenan. Teramati bahwa bentuk pantai ini makin mundur dari tahun ke tahun. Observasi dan pengukuran dilakukan pada bulan November 2008, sebanyak 85 titik telah dipetakan dengan menggunakan GPS dengan koreksi dari peta LPI dan hasilnya dibandingkan dengan beberapa peta terdahulu yaitu Peta Dishidros lembar 334 tahun 1992, Peta Laut No 62 tahun 1985. Perbandingannya menunjukan garis pantai desa Bentenan mengalami perubahan rata-rata sebesar 165 m mundur ke arah daratan dalam selang waktu 1985-2008 (23 tahun). Dalam periode tersebut setiap tahun daerah ini meng-alami kemunduran garis pantai rata-rata 7,17 m.Kata kunci: Bentenan, Garis pantai, Abrasi, Pantai mundur, geomorfologi.
