Abstract

This research explores the widespread and trending phenomenon of al-Qur'an memorization (tahfiẓ) programs in Islamic education, encompassing traditional and modern settings such as Islamic boarding schools and public schools. Using a qualitative approach and drawing on Kotler's (2002) and Keller's (2001) brand image theory, data is collected through observation, interviews (with key figures in educational institutions, including leaders, teachers, parents, students, alumni, and government agencies in West Nusa Tenggara), and documentation. The findings highlight distinct types of tahfiẓ programs in the three selected educational institutions: Al-Aziziyah Islamic Boarding School requires the precise memorization of the entire Qur'an (30 chapters), Abu Hurairah Islamic Boarding School integrates the program within the formal curriculum, covering 13 chapters, and SDIT Anak Sholeh Mataram includes the program in the formal curriculum, completing two chapters (30 and 29). Theological, pragmatic, and sociological factors influence public responses to these institutions. The study suggests that the theological aspects play a significant role in shaping the perception of the Qur'an tahfiẓ program as an Islamic educational brand, which extends beyond the attributes, benefits, values, culture, personality, and users emphasized in existing brand image theories.

Abstract

Professional teachers are teachers who can carry out learning activities well. One of them is implementing independent differentiation of learning in the classroom. For this reason, research was conducted to conceptualize the paradigm of learning differentiation in the context of realizing students’ independent learning. This study uses qualitative field research, examining data sources in books and journal articles discussing learning differentiation, teacher professionalism, and independent learning. The data collection technique used is documentation in the form of data sources from various reference sources, both journal articles, research results, and reference books. The analysis technique is carried out by reading, identifying, and classifying the data, which is then analyzed and criticized based on theoretical concepts. This is where the findings in this study can be identified as follows: (1) the teacher must have a paradigm view that independent learning differentiation already exists in the classroom. The classroom is positioned as a space for the diversity and diversity of students. This difference is a privilege that must be explored in independent learning activities; (2) professional teachers can develop differentiation designs for students’ independent learning. Learning differentiation can be contextualized in the independent learning paradigm; and (3) teachers can implement independent differentiation of learning in the classroom through a series of activities: constructivism, inquiry, asking, study groups, modeling, reflection, and authentic assessment.

Abstract

The rapid flow of industrialization in several sectors, including education, educational institutions, especially PTKI, must balance the education system with the times, which is expected to be able to give birth to creative and innovative students. This research is a field study that aims to reveal the concept of MBKM at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with the Head of the Study Program, the Head of LPM, the Dean, and the Students. This article aims to analyze the concept of independent learning on an independent campus (MBKM) in more depth, tracing the industrial mindset at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. The study results show that the industrialization of education is conspicuous in the MBKM policy implemented at UIN Sunan Kalijaga. This is seen from the industrial factor, which is of great concern in educational design, meaning that national education only determines students to become skilled workers as the main objective, contrary to the objectives of national education in Bill 20 of 2003, which contains that the purpose of education is to form character and personality as a priority as teachings in Islam. The MBKM programs at UIN Sunan Kalijaga also emphasize that skilled workers must meet the demands of the business and industrial world as an integral part of alleviating unemployment. It is different from the teachings of Islam through the continuous messages of Muslim scholars that education aims to give birth to perfect humans.

Abstract

MAN Model Manado was the most prominent Islamic school in North Sulawesi Province. The student body of more than 1.400 is ethnically diverse. Most of the students of this school were Muslim, and the school with proud of Muslim values and identity, as well as its increasing academic competitiveness. The role of civic education teachers in strengthening the importance of religious moderation in MAN Model Manado used the power of curriculum 13 (K-13) and the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) & Muhammadiyah religious organizations. These two strengths are carried out through an indoctrination teaching strategy, including dichotomy, internalization, and habituation. Their status as State Civil Apparatus (ASN) also influences the strengthening of religious moderation in the learning process. Our research also found that the IPNU (Nahdlatul Ulama Student Association) and the IPM (Muhammadiyah Student Association) base their perceptions on a rational-religious model. In the Manado Model MAN, the position of religious moderation in civics education is more directed to the process of forming public morality rather than class identity hegemony.
