Abstract

Four elements of empathy are perspective-taking, fantasy, personal distress, and emphatic accuracy. Empathy is essential for people, especially for those who will work as helpers, such as teachers, counselors, nurses, doctors, and other similar professions. This paper studies and measures the effectiveness of the Socratic dialogue method used to increase four elements of student's empathy. This experimental study uses a pretest-posttest control group design. Nineteen participants were selected and divided into the experimental and control group. The experimental results were analyzed by a one-way ANOVA and t-test using SPSS 20.0 for Windows. The results indicate that Socratic dialogue is effective in improving four elements of empathy. Empat elemen empati adalah perspective-taking, fantasy, personal distress, dan emphatic accuracy. Empati penting bagi individu, khususnya bagi mereka yang akan bekerja sebagai helper, seperti guru, konselor, perawat, dokter dan profesi sejenis. Penelitian ini menguji efektifitas metode dialog Socratic untuk meningkatkan empati mahasiswa. Penelitian eksperimen ini menggunakan pretest-posttest control group design. 19 partisipan terpilih dan dibagi dalam kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol. Hasil eksperimen ini dianalisis dengan uji anova satu jalan dan uji-t, dengan bantuan program SPSS release 20.0 for windows. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa metode dialog Socratic efektif dalam meningkatkan empati mahasiswa. Abstract

There is a common problem in the learning process of Islamic Religious Education (PAI), which still uses merely light learning methods or strategies, such as using the simple lecture method uncombined with other participatory methods as discussion, memorization, and questioning. Therefore, it takes a gait to implement PAI learning strategies that can make students more active in understanding new concepts and experiences by applying Jerome Bruner's Discovery Learning learning method. This research uses qualitative approaches conducted by classroom observation and interviews by implementing the model in PAI learning at SMPN 3 Depok Sleman Yogyakarta. The research shows that Bruner's Discovery learning model had been carried out well through the following procedures: providing stimulation, identifying problems, gathering information and data, processing data, then proving and drawing conclusions; as well as supported by several supporting factors (the integrated curriculum, teachers' pedagogical mastery, and adequate infrastructures). Despite there are several obstacles, the learning strategy is promising. Keywords: Cognitive, Discovery Learning Model, implementation, Islamic Religious Education. Terdapat masalah umum dalam proses pembelajaran Pendidikan Agama Islam (PAI) yang masih menggunakan metode atau strategi pembelajaran sederhana, seperti menggunakan metode ceramah tanpa dipadukan dengan metode partisipatif lain seperti diskusi, hafalan, dan tanya jawab. Oleh karena itu, dibutuhkan upaya untuk menerapkan strategi pembelajaran PAI yang dapat membuat siswa lebih aktif dalam memahami konsep dan pengalaman baru, salah satunya dengan menerapkan metode pembelajaran Discovery Learning dari Jerome Bruner. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang dilakukan dengan observasi kelas dan wawancara dengan mengimplementasikan model Discovery Learning dalam pembelajaran PAI di SMPN 3 Depok Sleman Yogyakarta. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa model pembelajaran tersebut telah dilaksanakan dengan baik melalui prosedur sebagai berikut: memberikan stimulasi, mengidentifikasi masalah, mengumpulkan informasi dan data, mengolah data, kemudian membuktikan dan menarik kesimpulan; serta didukung oleh beberapa faktor pendukung (kurikulum yang terintegrasi, penguasaan pedagogik guru, dan sarana prasarana yang memadai). Meski ada beberapa kendala, namun strategi pembelajaran ini cukup menjanjikan. Kata Kunci: Kognitif, Model Discovery Learning, Implementasi, Pendidikan Agama Islam.

Abstract

During the Covid-19 pandemic, child mischief conducts tend to somehow worrying, especially in elementary school (SD) pupils. Whilst, posters containing wisdom expression posted on the walls of several schools in Surakarta region seems relevant to the issue. This research problematizes the value of religious character education contained in the expression of wisdom on the schools’ walls, and its meaning as well as its function in this pandemic situation. This qualitative research aims to find various kinds of religious values on the posters in the schools and describes the meaning of those values. The source of research data is written language, namely the expression of wisdom which has religious value. Data collection techniques used are documentation (seeing) and observation techniques (noting). Consecutively, the data is then analyzed through the referential equivalent method and triangulation of data sources. As result, found that there are five religious sub-values, namely peace-loving, tolerance, self-esteem, friendship, and environmental care, that could be utilized by teachers in distance learning during the pandemic. Keywords: character education, elementary school, expression of wisdom, religious values Selama pandemi Covid-19, perilaku kenakalan anak cenderung mengkhawatirkan, terutama pada siswa Sekolah Dasar (SD). Sementara, poster yang berisi ungkapan kebijaksanaan yang ditempel di dinding beberapa sekolah di wilayah Surakarta tampaknya relevan dengan persoalan tersebut. Penelitian ini mengkaji nilai pendidikan karakter agama yang terkandung dalam ekspresi kearifan di dinding sekolah, dan maknanya serta fungsinya dalam situasi pandemi ini. Penelitian kualitatif ini bertujuan untuk menemukan berbagai macam nilai religius pada poster di sekolah dan mendeskripsikan makna dari nilai-nilai tersebut. Sumber data penelitian adalah bahasa tertulis yaitu ungkapan hikmah yang memiliki nilai religius. Teknik pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah teknik dokumentasi (melihat) dan observasi (mencatat). Secara berurutan, data tersebut kemudian dianalisis melalui metode ekuivalen referensial dan triangulasi sumber data. Sebagai hasil, ditemui lima subnilai religius yaitu cinta damai, toleransi, percaya diri, persahabatan, dan mencintai lingkungan, yang dapat dimanfaatkan guru dalam proses pembelajaran jarak jauh di masa pandemi. Abstract

This study's objectives were to describe the role of the Akidah Akhlak teacher in instilling the character of MA students. This research is field research with qualitative methods employing particular procedures. The results showed that Akidah Akhlak teachers' role in instilling MA Al-Falah students' character values Karangrejo Pacitan had a significant influence on students. The strategies adopted by the teacher include advising students to come on time, to obey madrasa regulations and teacher orders, to maintain the madrasa's cleanliness by not littering, not carrying cellphones and valuables, not making the class messy, and giving sanctions for students who violate it. Several supporting and inhibiting factors were found at MA Al-Falah Karangrejo Pacitan, yet the aim in instilling student character values is well achieved. Keywords: education, instilling character, student, teacher Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mendeskripsikan peran guru Akidah Akhlak dalam menanamkan karakter siswa MA. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian lapangan dengan metode kualitatif dengan prosedur tertentu. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peran guru Akidah Akhlak dalam menanamkan nilai-nilai karakter siswa MA Al-Falah Karangrejo Pacitan mempunyai pengaruh yang signifikan terhadap siswa. Strategi yang ditempuh guru antara lain menasihati siswa untuk datang tepat waktu, mematuhi peraturan madrasah dan perintah guru, menjaga kebersihan madrasah dengan tidak membuang sampah sembarangan, tidak membawa handphone dan barang berharga, tidak membuat berantakan kelas, dan memberikan sanksi bagi siswa yang melanggar. Beberapa faktor pendukung dan penghambat ditemukan di MA Al-Falah Karangrejo Pacitan, namun tujuan penanaman nilai karakter siswa tercapai dengan baik. Abstract

This study examines the thoughts of Kuntowijoyo as a Muslim scholar who is very influential in Indonesian scientific disciplines. In his view, Indonesian Muslims have gone through stages of awareness. These stages are divided into three periods, namely: the period of myth, the period of ideology and the period of science.The mythical period where ancient people really believed in something mystical. Then the development of the era in the Ideological Period began to recognize scientific treasures so that some of these mystical beliefs could be proven by science. Meanwhile, humans are currently in the Period of Science, namely interpreting modern sciences. A detailed explanation related to the period was compiled based on several references obtained by the author in qualitative research methods and packaged in the Library Research. The author identifies through Kuntowijoyo's original work and explores other scientific studies related to his written thoughts, both in print and digital media. The results show the study of Islam as a science, the method of transcendental structuralism and the concept of prophetic social science according to Kuntowijoyo in an Islamic perspective.

Abstract

To perceive the existence of Speech Method toward the students’ speaking skill, this researcher conducts a descriptive qualitative research design in order to find the students’ problem that gets some difficulties. Speech Method is taught to students of the sixth semester 2014 A who learn speaking skill by delivering in front of the class with a minimally limitation of time which is given by the lecturer in order the students can speak fluently. The researcher takes 12 students who are always active in joining the Speaking IV subject as the respondents of the research. By using a questionnaire and interview as methods to collect the concrete data, the researcher concluded that the existence of Speech Method improves students’ speaking skill. It is proven in the answer of questionnaire that eleven (11) or 93% respondents agree on it. Unfortunately, there are some difficulties gotten by the students, in which many students feel nervous in delivering their speech and have limited vocabularies that make them cannot speak up in front of the audiences. While, students perceive that they just do not like on the technique used by lecturer who gives more explanation than the exercise. Mostly students also stated that the lecturer of Speech Method cannot make the class to be interesting. The students perceived that Speech Method existence improves students’ speaking skill but students want the lecturer give more exercise on having speech in order that they can learn how to speak fluently.

Abstract

Religious education is fundamental to be improved, as moral degradation continues to take root around the world. One of the efforts to maintain the value of religious teachings is through the education system, among others through boarding school education. The presence of boarding schools in the middle of society is not only as an educational institution, but also as a religious and religious broadcasting institution. This research uses a qualitative approach with case study methods at IHAQI Boarding School Bandung Creative Boarding School. The results of the study illustrate that historically pesantren continues to change, in the 21st century pesantren developed using the word pondok to "Boarding School", one of them in IHAQI Creative Boarding School. This shows the birth of the modern post generation as a form of modern boarding school progress in the development of the industrial revolution 4.0 era, in addition to displaying religious knowledge, modern post pesantren that exists in the 21st century also displays various skills in various fields of science. Pesantren has a unique and creative Boarding School system in developing various disciplines and skills needed by the community. This pesantren became a post-modern boarding school that excelled in printing a generation of digital-based Islam. Its more comprehensive-holistic educational patterns make it more likely to create an ideal educational environment for giving birth to people who will be able to bring about a revolution in social, political, economic and religious life movements

Abstract

This research aims to find out how was the implementation of The English Club program, especially for non-English department students in Nahdlatul Ulama Sidoarjo University (UNUSIDA), as well as to know about the obstacles during the implementation. This research is a qualitative descriptive research, to collect the data, this research used interviews, observations and documentation. The data analysis technique used is qualitative data analysis, namely data collection, data reduction and conclusion. The results showed that English Club, has four main activities, namely English Conversation, English Course, English Fest and Creative Writing. The success of the implementation program can be seen through four aspects such as; kind of programs, material, Tutor quality, and learning environment. The data research showed that 75% respondents strongly agree that the implementation of English club programs has succeed. There are some obstacles of the implementation of English club programs such as; Sidoarjo is the red zone of Covid-19 pandemic, so several program cannot run well. It is difficult to arrange the schedule which should be suitable for all the members from different program study. The last is the busyness of English Club members with other activities outside the English Club.

Abstract

The first and main institution is the family, who provides early knowledge, guidance, attention and affection that they feel is very influential in the process of psychological growth and even social development in children. Parenting by parents greatly influences the success of a child. The purpose of this study is to find out the factors that influence the low motivation of student learning and to find out how the parenting of students at home, so influence children’s learning motivation. This type of research is descriptive with a qualititave approach. Research subjects are students and home room teachers. Data collected in this study used interview and observation techniques. The data collected is analyzed using interactive analysis of miles and huberman which covering 3 data reduction, data display and conclusion drawing or verification. The results showed that the learning facilities of parents have an effect but are meaningless without good assistance from parents. In the educational environment the influence of peers, teachers and class atmosphere is also a supporting factor in increasing student motivation. Abstract

The implementation of learning by daring for anticipation of the spread of Covid-19 is seen as less effective and causes many problems. The Minister of Education responded to this by publishing a circular regarding the permissibility of learning by luring with all the requirements. This policy triggered a polemic with the fact that the spread of Covid-19 was still increasing. therefore the author are interested in examining these policies in the perspective of maqasid sharia. This research uses qualitative methods and is based on library research. The data needed in this study were collected using document techniques (reading text). From the research conducted, the authors conclude that today's hifdzul aqli is not only related to dzati reason but has reinterpretated into functional guarding. In this perspective, education and health occupy an equal position. Furthermore, through the analysis of Ibn Asyur's maslahat concept, it is concluded that policies related to learning by daring contain aspects of benefit (development of reason) and mafsadat (damage to the soul) in a balanced manner. After a deeper analysis through a study of sadd dzariah, it can be concluded that this policy is less relevant to maqasid sharia. Pelaksanaan pembelajaran jarak jauh sebagai antisipasi penyebaran covid-19 dipandang kurang efektif dan menimbulkan banyak persoalan. Hal itu direspon oleh Mentri Pendidikan dengan menerbitkan edaran tentang diperbolehkannya pembelajaran tatap muka dengan segala persyaratanya. Kebijakan ini memicu polemik dengan adanya fakta bahwa penyebaran covid-19 masih terus mengalami peningkatan. Dari sini penulis tertarik untuk mengkaji kebijakan tersebut dalam perspektif maqasid syariah. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode kualitatif dan berbasis library research. Data yang diperlukan dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan teknik dokumen (reading text). Dari penelitian yang dilakukan, penulis berkesimpulan bahwa hifdzul aqli dewasa ini tidak hanya berkaitan dengan akal secara dzati akan tetapi telah dienterpretasi menjadi penjagaan akal secara fungsi. Dalam perspektif ini, pendidikan dan kesehatan menduduki posisi yang setara. Selanjutnya, melalui analisis konsep maslahatnya Ibnu Asyur, disimpulkan bahwa kebijakan terkait pembelajaran tatap muka mengandung aspek manfaat (pengembangan akal) dan mafsadat (rusaknya jiwa) secara berimbang. Setelah dianalisis lebih mendalam melalui kajian sadd dzariah bisa disimpulkan bahwa kebijakan ini kurang relevan dengan maqasid syariah.
