Abstract

The development of an apparatus for the measurement of linear thermal expansion coefficient of metal by a single diffraction method has been developed. The development was made based on several ideas from previous researchers, as well as to overcome several limitations which yields insignificant results. The development includes the redesign of the primary holder module, the temperature measurement module (using a thermocouple sensor connected to the PC), and the measurement approach of the diffraction pattern distance by means of digital video analysis techniques using Tracker software. The development of the modules as well as the measurement approach that has been done yields very good experimental results. The measured linear thermal expansion coefficient of aluminum has a high level of accuracy and precision. The result is (23.100 ± 0.2186)×10-6/°C, and compared from a reference, i.e., 23.000 × 10-6/°C, the relative error of is 0.95% and the relative standard deviation is 0.43%.

Abstract

The development of information and communication technology (ICT) in the 21st century makes it easier for students to be more active in the learning process. Physics learning materials are needed to support the problem-based learning process in high school. This study aims to produce e-learning models for problem-based learning on Heat and Thermodynamics topics. The result shows media can be used in learning in high school class XI. We uses the research and development method, with the Dick and Carey model. The study was conducted in a digital media laboratory, Physics Education Department of Universitas Negeri Jakarta from January to June 2018. E-Learning models have been produced for problem-based learning in the topic of Heat and Thermodynamics. This WordPress-based E-Learning model can display physics material enriched with images, graphics, animations, simulations, and videos. Students are facilitated to understand the concepts learned. The e-learning model is equipped with assessment tools that can be used online. Students are facilitated to learn independently without limited space and time. The E-learning model developed was also equipped with discussion groups in the form of chats for all registered users. The media validation obtained the results of system evaluation, content, and e-learning infrastructure with 78.9 points average. The material validation gives an 81.55 rating. Concerning media and material, e-learning media is declared feasible as a medium for self-learning. The e-learning model for problem-based learning is feasible to use to train the ability to critical thinking, creative thinking, collaborative, and communicate for students in high school.

Abstract

This research aims to develop a knowledge-enrichment physics book of ice and snow that is worthy of use as an enrichment material on physics subject. This research is a research and development with an ADDIE (Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation) model. The developed book referred from the Central of Curriculum and Book guideline so that the developed book can be recommended as enrichment material for high-school students. The developed book uses communicative language, attractive illustrations, and information concerning ice and snow with updated science knowledge. The result by physics expert on the developed enrichment book is 94.12% with a category "very good," media expert 87.50% with a category "very good," and with the same category is also given by education expert who gave a score 92.04%. The result of the product trial test shows that students accept the developed enrichment books with "very good," which represent an average score of 90.06%. Based on the validation and product trials test, it concluded that the enrichment book titled “Ice and Snow” are worthy to be used as enrichment materials on physics.

Abstract

The problem of this study is the acts of the criminal increase in North Sumatra, so it needs the characters' building begin from school. Besides, the teacher of physics should be able to instill character values through analogy learning about the concept of physics. This study aims to determine the results of physical knowledge and student responses after applying analogy learning to instill character values. The subjects of this study were X-IPA 1 students of SMA Negeri 1 Rantau Utara. This research is descriptive qualitative with two stages, namely the preparation stage (referring to the development that uses the 4-D model namely Defines, Design, Develop, and Disseminate) and the implementation stage. While the instruments used in this study are observation sheets on the implementation of RPP, student response questionnaires, and tests of knowledge competency results. The conclusions of this study are there is an increase in the results of students' physics knowledge competencies and a positive response to the implementation of analogy learning in instilling character education through the concepts of physics taught.

Abstract

This article is a part of the research in designing a model of the geometrical-optics game on optics' courses for pre-service physics teachers (PPTs). This article describes the preliminary form of product, the result of validation, and PPTs’ responses to the media on two-lens system experiment (MTLSE). The validation of this media has been done according to physics subject matter, instructional media and pedagogical experts. The implementation of MTLSE using the one-shot case study design involving 25 PPTs at one of the Islamic universities in Bandung. We collected the data of MTLSE validation and PPTs’ responses through non-test techniques with questionnaire instruments. The data using quantitative descriptive analysis technique. The results of MTLSE validation can be good categorized. Besides, generally, the PPTs’ responses are good categorized toward the implementation of MTLSE on optics' courses.

So that this study has the aim of developing, knowing the feasibility of online web-based learning and assessment tool in physics, as well as knowing students' learning results in the ICT media. This study research & development (R&D) method using Borg & Gall model. Which refers to the potential problem through data collection, product design, design validation, revision of product design, product testing, revision of usage. The feasibility testing of media and material was carried out by two material expert validators and two media expert validators with a small group trial conducted on students consisting of 13 respondents and large group trial conducted on students consisting of 40 respondents. We use online media for web-based learning and assessment tool in vocational high school for Physics subject, and the results of the study show that this application generates individual assignments, marks student responses, supplies students with the rapid feedback, and records student activities. The student activity log provides insight into student learning habits. Its a reference for assessment. This application meets the requirements as a learning media. The results of the validation by an expert material on online web-based learning and assessment tool gets a percentage of an average score of 82%, and the material gets a percentage of 81.33% criteria very feasible.
