Abstract

Some research showed that many teachers have literacy skills but they have not used them in the classroom yet. This research aims to describe science literacy competence of SMA Batik 2 Surakarta students and teacher. The research uses qualitative descriptive method. The study was conducted at SMA Batik 2 Surakarta with tenth grade science class students as the subjects. There were 88 students as and 2 teacher the subjects. The samples selected by using total sampling technique. The research instrument used in this study is science literacy test adapted from PISA (Programme for International Student Assesment). The data analysis technique used is percentage. The result of this study shows that 57,41% student mastered the science literacy competence, the student completed in science literacy competence included in the middle level this research. The interviews with teachers and students show that the use of science literacy in the classroom is still low. This research is complementary the study of the importance of teacher ability analysis in the use of scientific literacy skill in the classroom

Abstract

This study aims to determine the implementation of cooperative learning models using type Student Facilitator and Explaining (SFAE) and the improvement of students' critical-thinking skills in momentum and impulses topic. We use pre-experiment design, with the one-group pretest-posttest. The population of this study was class X MIA YAS Bandung with the sample of class X MIA 2 amounted to 30 students selected by random technique. We use the observation sheet as the instrument to observe the implementation of teacher and student activities during the cooperative learning model type SFAE. The essay tests are used to measure the improvement of students' critical-thinking skills. The results of the study showed that the implementation of teacher activities was 81% and student activities by 77% in the good category. Increasing students' critical-thinking skills is the medium category with an average normalized gain value of 0.63. Based on the results of hypothesis testing using the paired sample t-test, it was obtained t-count (34.08) > t-table (2.052) which means that Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. It was concluded that there was an increase in students' critical-thinking skills after applying the SFAE type cooperative learning model to the material of momentum and impulse. Thus, this learning model of type SFAE can be used to improve students' higher-order thinking skills.

Abstract

This study aims to develop thermal length expansion practicum sets that are expected to improve high-school science process skills (SPS) in expansion material on metal rods. This research was conducted at SMAN 2 Bekasi in class XI by comparing the control and the experimental class. This study uses the ADDIE approach to analyze, design, develop, implement, and evaluate the thermal expansion length practicum sets. The feasibility test of this practicum sets was carried out in two ways: conducting experiments and validating tests from experts. The experimental results for the linear expansion coefficient of an iron bar are 3.09%, the brass is 5.81%, and the aluminum is 7.39% from the reference value. All of the experimental data still below the error acceptance level which is below 10%. The validation results give 85.5% from media experts and 86.1% from material experts. The trials on users obtained 93.9% of teachers and 85.4% of students. The N-gain in control and experiment class then compared to see the increase in SPS in each category. There was an increase in the experimental class SPS value 7.3% higher than the control class, where the SPS value in the experimental class increased by 47.8%. Therefore, it can conclude that the thermal expansion practicum sets is feasible to use and can improve the science process skills of high school students.

Abstract

The demands of 21st-century skills highlighted the importance of cooperation between teachers and students to achieve the expected skill. The Pedagogical knowledge of teachers in teaching and technology into things that need to be developed. The pedagogic ability of teachers in the use of technology can be a potential to develop students' abilities argument. This study aims to develop students' ability argumentation through pedagogical knowledge of teachers in using technology. The technology used is the result of the development of student worksheets 3D PageFlip Impulse and Momentum topics. The purpose of this study to look at the ability of students through the application of scientific argumentation (Technological Pedagogic Knowledge) TPK teachers in the classroom. This research is descriptive research. The data collection capability student argumentation performed by administering a written test. The subjects were students of class X at SMAN 1 Yogyakarta Prambanan. Rate scientific argumentation ability of students refers to Toulmin Argumentation Pattern (TAP). The results showed that the complexity of argumentation ability of students still at low level. These results suggest that the ability of the student arguments need to be improved.

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to find out the descriptive of pre-service physics teachers understanding of the concept of electrical circuits, especially in the characteristic of series circuits and parallel circuits. The method used in this research was a descriptive method. The sample of this research was the fourth-grade students who took Basic Electronics course. The primary data of this research collected from the students’ test consisted of 12 multiple choices. Data analysis concluded that the student’s understanding of the concept of the electric circuit was low, with an average percentage of total indicators of 84.4%.
