Abstract

Indian Scad, Decapterus russelli is the catch that dominates the Pasongsongan Fishing Port. The Indian Scad are caught throughout the year using the purse seine with and FADs. The intensity of catching, the number of vessels which tend to continue to increase in number, and the used of FADs can put greater pressure on the sustainability of the fish resources. Therefore, information on biological aspects, namely knowing the distribution of Gonad Maturity Level (Tingkat Kematangan Gonad/TKG) and Fecundity of Indian Scad in Pasongsongan waters is used as the objective of this research. This research was conducted in November 2019 - November 2020. The data analysis carried out was the Gonad Maturity Level (TKG) and its distribution based on the length and weight of the fish and their fecundity. The results showed that the distribution of the gonad maturity level varied from TKG I to TKG V for each month. However, based on the season, all levels of TKG can be seen from the catch both in the dry and rainy season. The fecundity of the fish in the dry season ranges from 5,929 - 25,470 points while in the rainy season it ranges from 364 - 23,216.

Abstract

The Halmahera walking shark is a nocturnal species that lives at the bottom of waters and is a species endemic to North Maluku. Weda Bay is one of the largest bays on the island of Halmahera and contains marine resources and high diversity. The aims research was analyze the distribution pattern and abundance of Halmahera walking shark at that location. The research was conducted in September - November 2020. The sampling in Weda Bay, is carried out in two methods, (1) catch of nets with a mesh size of 2,5 cm stretched from the mangrove ecosystem, seagrass to coral reefs with a length of ± 50 meters and a height of 1,5 meters, (2) hand sampling equipment namely the sample catch it by hand with transect area (50x50m2) or 0,25 ha using basic diving equipment (snorkeling) to a depth of 3 meters at high tide in the night. Distribution pattern data analysis used Morisita Index and abundance analysis used reef fish abundance equation. Results the research found 28 individuals, namely 17 females and 11 males. There are 2 distribution patterns of the Halmahera epaullette shark, namely Grouping and Random. The clustered distribution pattern is found at stations 1, 2 and 4, while the random distribution pattern is found at station 3. Overall the distribution pattern of the Halmahera walking shark in Weda Bay is grouped. The highest abundance of Halmahera walkingshark was at station 1, namely 17,33 ind/ha and the lowest abundance at stations 3 and 4 was 5,33 ind/ha. The highest abundance is at station 1, this is because the habitat is still very good from the mangrove, seagrass and coral reef ecosystems to find food and the growth of the Halmahera walking shark.

Abstract

Seagrass as a high-level plant utilizes carbon dioxide to produce organic matter and stores it in biomass, so that this plant has the potential to reduce carbon dioxide pollution in the environment. This study aimed to analyze the carbon stock and carbon sequestration of two seagrass species in Waai Coastal Waters, Ambon Island. Thalassia hemprichii and Enhalus acoroides were the main focus of this research. These species are the dominant species in Waai Coastal Waters. This research was conducted in June 2019 at two research stations based on substrate differences, namely Station 1 representing a muddy substrate, and Station 2 representing a sandy substrate. The analysis of carbon stocks was carried out using a biomass analysis approach, which was divided into above the substrate and below the substrate. The analysis of carbon sequestration was carried out using the production rate analysis approach. The carbon content analysis was based on the Walkley and Black method. Based on the research results, it was found that the potential carbon stock in E. acoroides ranged from 112.38 - 126.34 gC.m-2. It was higher than T. hemprichii that ranged from 9.31 - 11.28 gC.m-2. This carbon stock was higher at below substrate, especially in the rhizome, which reached 50% of the total carbon stock. The potential of carbon sequestration was also higher in E. acoroides (1.45 - 1.81 gC.m-2.d-1) compared to T. hemprichii (0.43 - 0.54 gC.m-2.d-1). The ability of these two species to absorb and store carbon was better in the muddy substrate area because of the sufficient nutrient content.

Abstract

The reopening of Red Island Beach since July 2020 still has several important problems that must be solved in order to overcome the spread of Covid-19 in tourism areas. The limitation of tourists has not been implemented properly by the tourist managers. It can be seen from the unrealistic decision of the tourist managers to still allow the visitors come even though it already passed the maximum of tourists that can visit during the pandemic. Meanwhile, based on the CHSE facilities, the result showed there are several things which still inappropriate and must be fixed. This research aim to examine the external and internal factors in the reopening of Red Island Beach and also form both of alternative and priority strategies which can be used for the future growth. The results of the data collected through interviews and questionnaires will be analyzed deeply using SWOT-AHP. After the SWOT analysis was found, it showed that the current position of Red Island Beach is in Quadrant VII, which means that the strategy suggested for the development of Red Island Beach is using the concentric diversification strategy. Meanwhile, the result of AHP analysis in all criteria and sub-cateria has a value CR < 0.1, it means the study is consistent and can be used for choosing the priority strategies in Red Island Beach. Those priority strategies are about increasing visitor managements and adding the supporting infrastructure that related with the value of the carrying capacity of Red Island Beach.

Abstract

Global Position System (GPS) is a navigation system that can provide information from a device related to it from satellites. The related device is called a GPS receiver. Information obtained includes, among others, the latitude and longitude positions. This latitude and longitude information can tell the position of an object from the satellite. In this research, a search tool with Arduino-based GPS was made. What is needed to be able to find fishermen is that a fisherman must be able to send latitude and longitude coordinates from the satellite, which will later be translated by a mobile application, namely the Google Map, where this application is able to translate numbers from latitude and longitude coordinates. To be able to send these coordinates, we need a tool that can capture the coordinates and then send them to the specified user. From the research results, it can be seen that searching for missing fishermen using GPS is easier to find and more efficient in terms of time.
