Abstract

Diabetes mellitus cases increased significantly in the 15-54 age group, according to doctors' diagnoses. Diabetes Mellitus in this age range causes a variety of risk factors that might lead to early symptoms of mental health disorders, such as irritability, anxiety, fatigue, and fear. The presence of early symptoms of mental health disorders can have a negative impact on the quality of life of productive-age people with Diabetes Mellitus, including decreased concentration and work productivity, a considerable deterioration in body function, and a drop in social functioning. This study aimed to explore and understand in-depth experiences of mental health disorders in the productive age group with Diabetes Mellitus. This study employed a phenomenological approach. Six participants (two men and four women) who had been diagnosed with Diabetes Mellitus by a doctor served as informants for the research. Data was collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and questionnaires. Data analysis was performed using thematic analysis with NVivo 12 software. The findings of this study reveal major mental health issues in the form of psychological symptoms (stress and anxiety) during Diabetes Mellitus diagnosis and treatment. In conclusion, people with diabetes mellitus in the productive age group exhibit significant symptoms of mental health issues such as stress, ineffective coping, and anxiety, which means that a diagnosis is required to ensure appropriate mental health interventions. Keywords: productive age group; mental health issues; diabetes mellitus

Abstract

Nurses’ compliance with patient safety practices, particularly fall prevention, is a critical indicator of healthcare quality. Elevated mental workload may impair concentration and negatively affect nurses’ performance in implementing safety procedures. This study aimed to examine the relationship between mental workload and nurses’ compliance with fall prevention measures. A mixed-methods design with a concurrent triangulation approach was employed. Quantitative data were collected using a cross-sectional design involving 47 nurses selected through total sampling. Qualitative data were obtained through in-depth interviews with six nurses to explore their perceptions of workload and compliance. The quantitative findings revealed that Mental Demand (p = 0.001), Frustration Level (p = 0.029), and overall Mental Workload (p = 0.003) were significantly associated with nurses’ compliance in fall prevention. These results suggest that increased mental workload may affect the consistency of nurses in adhering to safety procedures. Qualitative findings indicated that nurses perceived their workload as complex, encompassing both cognitive and physical demands. High task demands, time pressure, and multiple responsibilities were identified as key challenges influencing their ability to maintain compliance. Conclusion: Nurses’ compliance is shaped by the complexity of mental workload and requires effective workload management. Organizational support, appropriate task allocation, and a supportive work environment are essential to enhance compliance and ensure patient safetyKeywords: mental workload; nurse compliance; patient safety; fall prevention

Abstract

Patient satisfaction is a critical indicator of service quality in primary health‑care settings and plays an essential role in strengthening the effectiveness of the national health‑insurance program. Physical facilities, service reliability, staff responsiveness, and professional assurance are widely recognized as core determinants of patient experience. This study was conducted to analyze the level of satisfaction among national health‑insurance users at the Bane Primary Health‑Care Center in Pematangsiantar in 2024 across four dimensions of service quality. The study employed a quantitative cross‑sectional design involving 98 respondents selected using the Slovin formula. Data were collected through structured questionnaires and analyzed descriptively. The results show varying levels of satisfaction across the four dimensions. Satisfaction was highest for reliability (70.4%) and responsiveness (65.8%), indicating that patients generally perceived the services as accurate, consistent, and delivered with adequate promptness. Tangible aspects also contributed positively, with 61.2% of patients expressing satisfaction, although limitations in physical facilities and equipment remained evident. Assurance demonstrated the lowest satisfaction level (47.1%), reflecting concerns about staff competence, communication clarity, and the ability to instill confidence. In conclusion, the findings highlight the need to strengthen physical infrastructure and enhance professional assurance while maintaining reliable and responsive service delivery. Improving these dimensions may contribute to higher patient satisfaction and support the overall effectiveness of the national health‑insurance system. Keywords: patient satisfaction; tangible; reliability; responsiveness; assurance; primary health care

Abstract

Body image perception and eating-related behaviors play an important role in determining adolescents’ nutritional status. This study aimed to examine the association between body image perception, eating behavior, dietary patterns, and nutritional status among adolescent girls using a cross-sectional research design. A total of 80 adolescent girls were recruited in August 2024. Data were collected using the Multidimensional Body-Self Relations Questionnaire–Appearance Scale (MBSRQ-AS) to assess body image perception, a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ) to evaluate dietary patterns, and the Eating Behavior Pattern Questionnaire (EBPQ) to measure eating behavior. Nutritional status was determined using Body Mass Index (BMI). Data were analyzed using chi-square tests with contingency coefficient analysis. The results showed that negative body image perception was significantly associated with underweight nutritional status (p=0.006; C=0.335). Adolescents with healthy eating behavior were more likely to have normal nutritional status compared to those with poor eating behavior (p=0.012; C=0.316). Dietary patterns were not significantly associated with nutritional status (p=0.108; C=0.229). In conclusion, body image perception and eating behavior were significantly associated with nutritional status among adolescent girls, whereas dietary patterns showed no significant association. Keywords: body image perception; eating behavior; dietary patterns; nutritional status; adolescent girls

Kartini, Kelapa Lima, Kupang, Indonesia; serlyansieboimau69@gmail.com ABSTRACT Rapid population growth remains a major demographic challenge in Indonesia, driven by limited reproductive health knowledge and persistent cultural norms. To support population regulation and improve maternal health, the government promotes the Family Planning Program, making it essential to understand factors that shape women’s decisions regarding postpartum contraception. This study aimed to examine the relationship between maternal knowledge of the Birth Planning and Complication Prevention Program and decision making about postpartum contraceptive use in the working area of the Tarus Community Health Center in Kupang District, East Nusa Tenggara. An analytic survey with a cross sectional approach was conducted among thirty pregnant women attending five community health posts, using a structured questionnaire and applying descriptive statistics and the Chi Square test for analysis. The findings indicate that most respondents demonstrated good knowledge of the Birth Planning and Complication Prevention Program and that the majority decided to use postpartum contraception. A statistically significant association was identified between maternal knowledge of the program and postpartum contraceptive decision making. These results suggest that stronger understanding of birth planning and complication prevention encourages informed choices regarding postpartum contraception, underscoring the importance of enhanced educational efforts for pregnant women. Abstract

Feeding difficulties are a major cause of prolonged hospitalization and delayed discharge among preterm infants in neonatal intensive care units. Although multiple feeding methods have been introduced to support the transition from gavage feeding to oral feeding, evidence regarding their comparative effectiveness remains inconsistent. This systematic review aimed to compare the effectiveness of different feeding methods used during the transition from gavage feeding to oral feeding in preterm infants, and to determine how each method influences physiological stability, feeding performance, and breastfeeding outcomes. This systematic review followed the Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta‑Analyses guidelines. Searches were conducted in PubMed, ScienceDirect, ProQuest, Scopus, and EBSCOhost for study publications between 2010 and 2025. Randomized controlled trials and quasi‑experimental study designs were included, and methodological quality was assessed using Joanna Briggs Institute appraisal tools. Nine studies involving 1,065 preterm infants were included. Paced bottle feeding with elevated side‑lying positioning improved coordination of sucking, swallowing, and breathing. Cup feeding supported higher exclusive breastfeeding rates after discharge. Syringe feeding accelerated the transition to full breastfeeding and promoted greater physiological stability. Finger feeding reduced feeding‑related complications but required longer feeding time. Novel teat systems and supplemental feeding tube devices showed encouraging results, although evidence remained limited. No single feeding method demonstrated consistent superiority across all outcomes. Feeding strategies should be individualized according to infants’ physiological readiness, clinical stability, breastfeeding goals, and available neonatal intensive care unit resources. Keywords: preterm infants; oral feeding; cup feeding; syringe feeding; finger feeding; paced bottle feeding

Abstract

The prevalence of stunting in Central Sulawesi is 27.2%, still above the national average of 24.2%, with Sigi Regency as one of the highest areas (24.6%). In Dolo District, the prevalence reached 22.34% (218 out of 976 toddlers) in 2024, with priority loci in Wisolo, Poi, and Waturalele Villages. Low maternal knowledge, inappropriate parenting patterns, and poor sanitation are the main obstacles in achieving the target of a 14.2% reduction by 2029. This study aims to analyze the causes of stunting and develop improvement strategies through a SWOT analysis. The qualitative research method with a strategic management approach (environmental observation, formulation, implementation, and evaluation) uses IFE, EFE, IE, and SWOT matrix analysis. Informants included the head of the Community Health Center, stunting program managers, village midwives, and the Stunting Reduction Acceleration Team. Data analysis involved environmental observation, formulation, implementation, and evaluation using the IFE, EFE, and IE matrix instruments, as well as a SWOT analysis. The analysis identified key contributing factors, including a lack of nutritional knowledge, parenting practices, and access to sanitation. Strategies implemented included the One Million Eggs program, Tanggang Shining, and specific and sensitive nutrition interventions. The SWOT analysis mapped the organization's position to formulate data-driven improvement strategies to optimize existing resources by strengthening convergence between 14 Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPDs) and utilizing real-world data to address field coordination challenges, ensuring the achievement of the stunting reduction target. Abstract

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) is a medical imaging modality that is capable of producing high-resolution anatomical images without the use of ionizing radiation. The quality of MRI images is greatly influenced by the stability of the system and the performance of the hardware, therefore, the implementation of routine Quality Control (QC) is essential to ensure patient safety and diagnostic accuracy. Imaging artifacts are frequent and can reduce image quality as well as interfere with clinical interpretation. In regional hospitals with limited availability of standard ACR phanthoms, visual checklist assessment and artefact evaluation are commonly used as practical QC methods. This study aims to analyze the implementation of Quality Control on the 1.5 Tesla MRI system at the Radiology Installation of Sanjiwani Hospital, focusing on the application of visual checklist and artifact evaluation assessments. This study uses a qualitative design with a survey approach conducted from February to March 2026. Data were collected through direct observation, visual checklist assessment, and documentation of phantom imagery results. Data analysis was carried out descriptively. The results showed that all parameters on the visual checklist for 30 days were in good condition and the entire MRI system was able to function normally without any equipment interference. The results of the artifact evaluation conducted on February 26, 2026, March 5, 2026, March 12, 2026, and March 19, 2026 also show the absence of artifacts on the MRI images. Based on the 2015 ACR standard, the results were characterized by a phantom image that appeared circular, homogeneous, symmetrical, there were no ghost images, no abnormal shadows, and no image distortion was found. Conditions in the field show that the implementation of QC at Sanjiwani Hospital still uses simple methods in the form of visual checklists and artifact evaluations, but is still able to monitor the stability of the MRI system regularly. The conclusion of this study shows that the 1.5 Tesla MRI aircraft at Sanjiwani Hospital is still operating well and has met MRI Quality Control standards based on the 2015 ACR guidelines. Regular implementation of QC through visual checklists and artifact evaluation can help maintain system stability and MRI image quality to support diagnostic services.
