Abstract

This research delves into the profound impact of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) on the globalization of terrorism. The central hypothesis posits that the evolution of ICT has facilitated the spread of terrorist operations across a truly global network. Leveraging Internet technology, individuals can now communicate across borders with ease, privacy, and unprecedented reach. This study specifically explores how terrorist acts are increasingly justified through ICT, examining the threats posed to international peace and security by the utilization of cutting-edge social media platforms such as WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Twitter by groups like ISIS. Employing a historical-descriptive approach, the author gathered data from reliable secondary sources, encompassing both public and unpublished records. The findings reveal that certain terrorist organizations, notably ISIS, capitalize on the growing accessibility of ICT, particularly via social media, to enhance communication, recruit members, radicalize individuals, and orchestrate coordinated operations. The study emphasizes the necessity of comprehending the role of social media in terrorist recruitment and radicalization. Understanding the motivations behind an individual's radicalization and affiliation with terrorist groups is crucial for effective counterterrorism measures. The study concludes with recommendations, emphasizing the importance of investing in scientific discovery and economic growth areas less susceptible to terrorist exploitation.

Abstract

A heated contention arose over the outcome of the 2023 presidential election in Nigeria, with fervent followers of Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar staunchly asserting their positions. This research delves into the repercussions of post-election groupthink syndrome on the perceptions and perspectives of these politically charged groups. Spanning from February 25, 2023, to September 25, 2023, the study meticulously scrutinizes media sources to explore the factors contributing to the emergence and endurance of Groupthink within these factions. The findings illuminate the roles of echo chambers, charismatic leadership, and confirmation bias in shaping group dynamics, perpetuating entrenched beliefs. The implications of these revelations underscore the need for initiatives in media literacy and critical thinking to empower citizens to navigate the information landscape successfully. Political leaders are urged to prioritize inclusive, fact-based decision-making to counteract the adverse effects of Groupthink, fostering a more enlightened and harmonious political discourse in Nigeria.

Abstract

The principles of sovereignty and non-interference have historically shaped China's foreign policy, serving as fundamental tenets to safeguard the nation from external interventions, particularly during and after the Cold War. However, in recent times, there has been a noticeable shift in China's foreign policy as it embarks on an unprecedented expansion of its military presence beyond its borders. This shift is exemplified by the establishment of a permanent military base in Djibouti, situated in the Middle East and North African (MENA) region, which China refers to as "support facilities" or "logistical facilities." This marks China's inaugural venture into maintaining a permanent military presence outside its territorial boundaries. This study delves into the motivations behind China's adjusted foreign policy stance and examines the implications of this new approach on human security. While acknowledging the critical human insecurity implications associated with China's military presence in Djibouti, the analysis reveals a multifaceted strategy encompassing economic, political, ideological, and security interests. This strategic move positions China as a significant global player, shaping its role on the world stage.

Abstract

Electorates expect politicians seeking public office to make known in advance, their intended programs in form of proposal. This is usually presented in speech in form of manifesto. Times within number, manifestos have always precede voting proper whereby the electorates evaluate politicians based on their manifestos. While intention is socially difficult to measure, this study adopts artificial neural network machine learning approach to map-measure the manifestos of politicians and their eventual performance in office. Due to changes in political names and structure, the study could only utilized the manifesto data of the two most popular political parties in Nigeria, from 2007 to 2019. The result of the empirical analysis shows that the model evaluation accuracy stood at 67%. With more adequate data, this result can be improved upon by subsequent research work.

Abstract

Elections are events that play an important role in the economic aspects of a country. Elections create uncertainty and potentially affect investor sentiment, causing fluctuations in Indonesian stock prices. A few months before the election, stock prices in Indonesia showed a significant increase in the Indonesia Composite Stock Price Index (IHSG). This occurs due to an increase in purchasing power for campaign needs and an increase in the government budget. The ARCH/GARCH model is a relevant analysis instrument in looking at market volatility. This study forecasts the close value of IHSG in the election year 2024 and analyzes the effect of elections on stock price volatility in Indonesia. This research resulted in the best model is GARCH (1,1) with RMSE 604.74, MAE 484.27, and MAPE 13.37. The forecasting results from November 23, 2023 - February 29, 2023 tend to increase, the average increase is 0.097%, the biggest increase from the end of November to the beginning of the first week of December 2023 by 0.229%. The relationship between IHSG value and political month is positive. The regression equation shows the IHSG value in months containing political events is 743,53 greater than in non-political months.

Abstract

Along with the election of Dadang Supriatna-Sahrul Gunawan as the elected Regent and Vice Regent of Bandung, both prioritized Bandung Regency as a religious and prosperous area as stated in their vision. One of the manifestations of this vision is the Incentive program. Ngaji teachers in the Bandung Regency area. The Ngaji Teacher Incentive Program is in principle one of the flagship programs of Regent Dadang Supriatna, during his campaign for the candidacy for Regent of Bandung Regency, where when he was elected, the implementation of the policy was then fully submitted to the Bandung Regency Regional Government through the basis of Perbup No. 51 of 2021 concerning Guidelines for Providing Ngaji Teacher Incentives and specifically, the implementor is the Education Office. The Quranic Teacher Incentive Program is targeted at religious educators in Bandung Regency with the aim of improving the welfare of Quranic teachers as religious educators by providing monthly incentives in the form of non-cash transfer funds as well as funds for BPJS Health and BPJS Employment. 17,000 Koranic teachers in Bandung Regency in the process then became the target beneficiaries of the incentive money assistance. There are 23,000 Quranic teachers in Bandung district, and the government has budgeted Rp 109 billion for Quranic teacher incentive assistance. The results of the study show that the implementing committee officers involved in implementing the Koranic Teacher Incentive Program policy have not implemented the policy optimally. The lack of optimal policy implementation is motivated by the lack of selectivity of the sub-district and village parties in implementing the policy, resulting in pros and cons and social jealousy. In addition, there are also differences regarding the nominal incentive money given according to members of the Dinas and village officials. In this Quranic teacher incentive program, it can also be concluded that economic conditions are the most important influence in the implementation of the Quranic Teacher Incentive Program. Because if there is no financial resource support, the financial resources, the Quranic Teacher Incentive Program will not be implemented.

Abstract

The ownership of firearms among Soldier and Police has become an important issue. It began with the arrest of a former TNI member who ordered an unknown person to buy illegal firearms, which empirically proves that illegal firearms are freely traded from some unscrupulous members of TNI and Polri. The conventional way of controlling data collection of weapons in DitIntelkam, which involves some complicated procedures along with long stages and time consuming, is presumed to be one of the factors of many firearms owners are unwilling to register their firearms. This research aims to describe the use of information technology digitalization to control firearms ownership and reduce the number of shootings using unregistered firearms. The research method is descriptive-qualitative by involving research informants and observations towards the supervision of data collection in DitIntelkam Polda Metro Jaya. The finding of this research shows that DitIntelkam should change their approach from the conventional way to the application of digitalization based on Information Technology to optimize the supervision of firearms data collection, especially at DitIntelkam Polda Metro Jaya.
