Abstract

Education as an institution allows preparing human resources that have the readiness and competence in global competition. Learning program prepares learners with integrative interconnect. In addition, the program language proficiency skills and skills that are hard skills and soft skills. Therefore, strategies are needed education system and school management processes that lead to the formation of character learners. Rationally, character-based education is critical for immediate implementation, therefore, the central issue is examined in writing regarding strategy, a readiness of human resources, indicators of success, design implementation, evaluation strategies, barriers and policy components required. This study used a qualitative approach to presenting the study; (1) The description of the reality of education in Indonesia in general; (2) Strategy to build a new discourse of understanding the implementation of character education based on local wisdom

Abstract

Participants education and training at Human Resource Development Centre of Transport Apparatus became the object of research to take the extent of the condition of leadership and performance effect on there work unit participants education and training and by SPSS through linear regression analysis showed that: Partially t-test results showed that the leadership (X1) had a strong and significant influence on employee performance (Y), for t > ttable was 4.829 > 1.96. Similarly, the X2 form of motivation showed tcount > ttable was 6.639> 1.96. The independent variable X1 (Leadership) and X2 (performance) simultaneously tested by F test strong and significant influence on the dependent variable Y (Performance Officer), since Fcount > Ftable (614.059 > 3.07). The resulted of regression equation Y = 2.254 + 0.411 X1 + 0.541 X2. The diversity of variable Y was influenced by the diversity of variables X1 and X2 for the remaining 91.7% 8.3% influenced by other factors. This was due to factors leadership and performance indispensable and always needed to obtain an increase motivation of participants education and training.

Abstract

The curriculum and learning are two things that can not be separated. As a plan or program, the curriculum will not be meaningful when it is not implemented in the form of learning. And vice versa, without a clear curriculum as a reference, then learning will not take place effectively (Sanjaya: 2009). What is described in the curriculum should provide clues to the learning process in the classroom; And what happens in the classroom is an input that can be taken into consideration in the improvement of the curriculum. Elementary School Islam (SDI) Surya Buana Malang one of the primary schools in the city of Malang that has a different character from another school Dinas. This study aims to find out and describe what the concept of natural school in SD Surya Buana Malang and how its implementation in realizing the character education of elementary school students. The research method used is qualitative research method. This study used a qualitative approach with an observational case study research design related to the concept of curriculum development of SDI Bilingual School SDI Surya Buana Malang. Data collection techniques are (1) in-depth interview (2) participant observation and (3) documentation study. Data analysis used in this research: data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion or verification. The result of the research shows that Islamic elementary school of SDI Surya Buana Malang apply curriculum of Diknas by applying the concept of the curriculum of natural school "Triple R", and in developing the character of SDI Surya Buana Malang students using liaison book between teacher and parents.

Abstract

Teachers’ teaching style preferences is undoubtedly being an essential thing in dynamic classroom language teaching. This study aimed to investigate Indonesian EFL teachers’ teaching style and their beliefs in the implementation of communicative language competence. Additionally, this study also explored students’ speaking competence. Fifty teachers were involved based on purposive sampling from one of regency of the Capital city, Kolaka Indonesia. The respondents cooperatively supported the study, then they filled Grasha (1996) Teaching Style Inventory (TSI). The descriptive statistic showed that the respondents mostly implement formal authority styles and personal model respectively. The students’ speaking competence was still categorized low. Regarding the nominal preference of authority styles, since the purpose of language teaching on basis of curriculum based teaching, the teacher believed that giving students space to explore their flexibility in communicating would not help them to pass the national examination

Abstract

During this time, the student is less understanding the significance of animal ecology lectures, so that students are less able to apply it in real of life. Animal ecology lecture consists of lectures and practicum. The purpose of this research was to increase knowledge of animal ecology and logical thinking of students using the diagram Vee on Animal Ecology lab. Research method was quasi experiment. The study population was student of prospective teachers Biology at 6th Semester as much as 9 classes taken courses Ecology animals, samples taken purposing sampling by 2 classes. This research was conducted by using a diagram Vee during practicum. Data obtained from the results of learning tests and logical thinking using the Test of Logical Thinking (TOTL). Data processing with the T test using SPSS. The results showed that there was influence using Vee diagram of the learning outcomes and logical reasoning and intellectual development of students.

Abstract

This research investigated “The Analysis of Gesture Used by Students of English Study Program in the Classroom Interaction at University of Sembilanbelas November, Kolaka”. The research problems were: what kinds of gesture that used by the students in the classroom interaction? And what are the functions of gesture which used by the students? With the objective of the research were to figure out several kinds of gesture that the students used in the classroom and to find out functions of gesture which used by the students. The method that used of this research was The Descriptive-Qualitative Method. The instruments that used in this research, those were observation and interview. The research participants in this research was the students of English Study Program and amounted to about 30 students, the lesson, as schedule in the fourth semester was Speaking Class, at the University of Sembilanbelas November, Kolaka. The results of this research concluded that, there were 29 kinds of the gesture which used by the students in the classroom interaction. And the functions of gesture were used by the students was also variously. But the functions of gesture were used by the students almost all of them were same. It was to show the sign of the tough-minded and stubborn individual, the interest of the student in the conversation, the student was lacking in self-confidence, courtesy and good attitude, showed disagreement, showed self-controlling, authority when argue, the persons’ habitual, the persons’ forgetfulness, the person’s shy nature, the person’s confident, showed self, the person enthusiasm when respond something, showed the courtesy, to disguise nervousness, to illustrate numbers, to clarify, gave comment, to express kept the confidence, to express the student felt nervous and insecure.

Abstract

This research was conducted to analyze the differences between certified and non-certified English teachers in the teaching and learning process. The researcher formulated the objective of the research was to find out the differences between certified and non-certified English teachers in the teaching and learning process. Based on the objective of the research above, so the researcher came to analize the differences between certified and non-certified English teachers, they were one of certified English teacher in SMP Neg. 1 Kolaka and one of non-certified English teacher in SMK Negeri 1 Kolaka. The design of the research, the researcher used a descriptive qualitative analysis. In conducting the research, the researcher used two kinds of data collection, they were interview and observation. In analysis of the data, the researcher used techniques of data analysis by Miles and Huberman, namely data reduction, data display and verifying and conclusion. In representing the analysis, the researcher mentioned the findings of certified and non-certified English teachers in the teaching and learning process. Furthermore, through out, the analysis, the researcher explained that certified and non-certified English teachers had some differences in the teaching and learning process. They showed differences in some indicators, they were material mastery, systematic presentation, methods application, using media, performance and motivation. Based on the finding and analysis, the researcher made conclusion that certified English teacher didn’t have all indicators in his teaching and learning process. Conversely, non-certified English teacher had all indicators in his teaching and learning process. In other words, non-certified English teacher had good quality than certified English teacher.

Abstract

Blended learning is one of the e- learnings to be concerned its improvement and it can not be apart from the digital learning practices. Moreover, the application of blended learning itself is such of educational innovation in the 21st century era not only in Indonesian setting but also in the worldwide spread. In fact, the deployement of blended learning which is covered by e-learning in Indonesia is not good enough in higher education setting. The present study investigated students’ perception of applying it in an academic reading class as part of demand in digital era. The descriptive study was employed to analyze the students’ questionnaire toward the application of blended learning during classroom practices with the 30 participants took part in the research. The students’ positive responses and interpretation from students revealed of implementation of it though some troubles occured during teaching and learning process. From the result of the data, it indicates that blended learning can be one of the educators’ choices of classroom practices in order to improve the quality of higher education and it provides innovation of education in digital era. The study provides the limitations and pedagogical suggetions.
