Abstract

Heavy drinkers who consume more than 30 grams of alcohol per day will increase the risk of increasing triglyceride levels. Chronic ethanol metabolism causes disrupted fatty acid oxidation and the transfer of carbon to fat causes an increase in the production of triglycerides in the liver. The excess triglycerides in the liver are then removed from the blood vessels and there is a buildup of triglycerides in the blood vessels and can progress to Coronary Heart Disease (CHD). This study aims to describe the triglyceride levels in alcohol users on Jalan Mendawai, Palangka Raya City. This study uses a descriptive method to describe triglyceride levels in people who use or consume alcohol on Jalan Mendawai, Palangka Raya City. The number of samples obtained were 20 samples and taken using purposive sampling technique, with criteria that are male sex, more than 20 years old, had consumed alcohol more than 5 years, at least 1 time in 1-week consuming alcohol and willing to be sampled. The results showed that only 1 person (5%) had normal triglyceride levels and 19 people (95%) had normal triglyceride levels. Based on the criteria for the risk of coronary heart disease (CHD) that is 1 person (5%) had triglyceride levels with ideal criteria, 4 people (20%) included in the criteria for high risk of CHD risk, 7 people (35%) which included high-risk criteria and 8 people (40%) which included very high-risk criteria for CHD.

Abstract

Estrogen-α (ER-α) is the main target for ER + therapy. Inhibition of ER-α is known to slow the proliferation of ER + breast cancer cells. Quinoline derivatives are known to have anticancer activity by inhibiting several types of receptors. It is not known whether quinoline can inhibit ER-α. This study aims to determine the interaction between ER-α with quinoline derivative compounds. Molecular docking of ER-α showed that quinine gave the most negative bond-free energy and the smallest inhibition constant, respectively -8.73 kcal/mol and 0.398 μM. These results provide predictions that quinine has activity as an ER-α inhibitor and has the potential to be developed in the treatment of ER + breast cancer. However, the affinity shown by quinine was lower than that of 4-hydroxytamoxifen, a potent inhibitor of ER-α.

Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a syndrome caused by an imbalance between demands and supply of insulin, this disease is a chronic systemic and multifactorial disease that is excised with hyperglycemia and hyperlipidemia. Symptoms that arise are due to lack of insulin secretion or insulin associated with microvascular and macrovascular disorders, neuropathic disorders and dermopathic lesions. This study aims to determine the effect of health education on the level of knowledge about diabetes mellitus in the community in Pahandut Village, Palangka Raya. This study used a pre-experimental design with one group pre-test and post-test design approach. Sampling in this study used purposive sampling technique and obtained a sample of 30 respondents in Pahandut, Palangka Raya. Data collection used a measuring instrument in the form of a questionnaire, the treatment used was health education, data were analyzed using the non-parametric statistical test of the Wilcoxon Sign Ranks Test. The level of knowledge before health education was conducted in the community in Pahandut Palangka Raya Village, it was known that out of 30 respondents there were 20 respondents (67%) with less knowledge, 8 respondents (26%) who had sufficient knowledge and 2 respondents (7%) who had good knowledge. The level of knowledge after being given health education revealed that out of 30 respondents, there were no respondents (0%) who lack knowledge, 8 respondents (27%) were knowledgeable enough and 22 respondents (73%) were well-informed. The results of the analysis through statistical tests were obtained Sig. (2-tailed) 0,000 which means smaller than p-value 0.05, so that the results obtained <p-value (0.000 <0.05). So it can be concluded that there is an effect of health education on the level of knowledge about diabetes mellitus in the community in Pahandut Palangka Raya.

This research was aimed to analyze the relationship between the level of knowledge and nutrition status on maternity risk in Kereng Bangkirai Health Centre. The research was conducted using a cross-sectional design. The population was all pregnant women within Kereng Bangkirai health center, on which recorded during January, 1st to Dec, 31st 2015 period. The calculated sample was 140 persons, using consecutive sampling technique. Univariate conducted through frequency distribution while bivariate analysis with chi-square. The study indicates that the mothers’ level of knowledge had a significant relationship with anemia (p=0.04). Meanwhile, their nutrition status showed no linkage with anemia. It is concluded that the mothers’ cognition is a risk factor for anemia during pregnancy.

Acute and chronic alcohol consumption can increase blood pressure which is a risk factor for kidney damage. Oxidative stress play a role in the kidney damage that induced by ethanol. In this study aims to the description of creatinine levels in moderate and heavy alcohol drinkers in Jalan Mendawai Kota Palangka Raya. This study used the descriptive method to describe the effect of consuming alcohol on kidney function using creatinine level parameters. Total sample used is 20 people with snowballs Sampling technique. The inclusion criteria such as male, age over 20 years old, consumed alcohol more than 5 years, consumed alcohol every day. Creatinine examination was done by Jaffe Reaction method using Photometer 5010 V5 +. The results showed that 15 people (75%) had high creatinine levels and 5 people (25%) had normal creatinine levels.

Abstract

Active smokers are people who are smoking continuously. The population of active smokers in Central Kalimantan was 26,5% in 2013. Cigarettes contain many toxic and addictive chemicals. The presence of tar and free radicals from cigarette smoke can cause erythrocyte hemolysis. In addition, the content of cigarette smoke can also cause an increase in hemoglobin levels that mediated by exposure to Carbon monoxide (CO). CO binds avidly to hemoglobin to form carboxyhemoglobin (HbCO). This study aims to give a description of hemoglobin level and erythrocyte indices in active smokers in Kelurahan Tanjung Pinang, Palangka Raya. The descriptive observational method with the cross-sectional design was used in this study. The sample obtained by 28 people with purposive sampling technique with criteria such as active smokers, men, working as farmers, laborers or fish farmers and not alcoholic. Examination of hemoglobin level and erythrocytes indices was done by a hematology analyzer. The result showed that 4 people (14,2%) had low hemoglobin level and 4 people (85,7%) was normal. Based on erythrocytes indices, 2 people (7,1%) with hypochromic microcytic anemia (low MCV, low MCH, and normal MCHC) and also low hemoglobin level. While 26 people (92,8%) had normal erythrocyte indices.

Abstract

As the age and nutritional intake are lower than the need, and the high burden of infectious diseases in early life, most infants in Indonesia continue to experience a decline in nutritional status with peak decline at approximately 18-24 months of age. The prevalence of stunting in children year 2013 is 37.2%. Lampung Province is included into 15 provinces with a serious category or has a prevalence of ≥40 percent (Riskesdas, 2013). The purpose of this study is to identify the relation between fish consumption habits and animal protein intake with stunting in a toddler. This was a cross-sectional study with 49 toddlers as a sample who live in Pulau Pasaran Bandar Lampung. There was no significant relationship between the frequency of fish consumption (p = 1,000) and there was a significant relationship between the consumption of animal protein with the stunting(p = 0.002). It is necessary to establish a program of growth monitoring of children in the form of regular height measurement at least every 3 months in the second and third year and every 6 months in the fourth and fifth year at posyandu level with the assistance of nutritionist of puskesmas. It is also suggested that diversify the daily menu for toddlers is needed by adding some of the animal protein in snacks and main meals to increase consumption of animal protein.
