Abstract

Early-age marriage remains a common social phenomenon in Indonesia, including in Jember Regency. Many families apply for marriage dispensation at the religious court as a solution to avoid premarital pregnancy or due to other social factors, despite the legal minimum age of 19 for marriage. This study aims to examine how judges at the Jember Religious Court grant marriage dispensation to underage applicants and whether the high number of dispensation requests correlates with the rising divorce rate. This research is a field study using a normative-juridical approach and descriptive qualitative method. Primary data were obtained through interviews with judges at the Jember Religious Court, while secondary data were collected from relevant literature such as books, journals, and legal documents. The findings reveal that judges only process marriage dispensation requests if the applicant is at least 18 years old, in accordance with agreements between the local government, health agencies, psychologists, P3KB, BKKBN, and other relevant institutions. Dispensations for applicants under 18 are only granted if supported by medical recommendations. Furthermore, judges emphasized that the increase in divorce rates is not solely caused by marriage dispensations but also by emotional immaturity and stunting. Therefore, education for parents and prospective couples on the emotional, legal, and social risks of early marriage is crucial to reduce divorce rates.

Abstract

This research aims to analyze Islamic views and responds towards the concept of democracy based on the ideal concept and historical reality of Muslim politics. This research uses a qualitative method with a narrative approach and uses literature studies in data collection techniques. Islamic views on the concept of democracy are divided into two groups, namely groups that reject and accept democracy as a state system. The group that rejects the concept of democracy has the argument that the concept of democracy is contrary to Islamic teachings, and the sovereignty of God is the highest power compared to the sovereignty of the people. Meanwhile, the accepting group has an argument that democracy is in harmony with Islamic teachings and the implementation of democracy is permitted as long as it does not conflict with Islamic law. Meanwhile, based on the political reality of Muslims, the implementation of democracy is closely related to the cultural and political conditions of Islamic- majority countries, where in some Islamic-majority countries democracy is rejected as a system of government, but on the other hand democratization is rapidly developing into a system of government in several other Islamic- majority countries.

Abstract

Reducing food waste is a very serious problem in the world, with a predicted increase in food demand by 50-70% by 2050. Indonesia, as a Muslim-majority country, ranks No. 2 after Saudi Arabia as the largest producer of food waste. The impact of this food waste extends to areas such as the economy, society, and the environment. The Sufism approach emphasizes simplicity, gratitude, and recognition of responsibility to nature. This approach provides a holistic solution that focuses not only on technical aspects, but also spiritual and ethical aspects. This research shows that consumption ethics in Islam influence people's behavior in managing food resources and reducing food wastage. Sufism, as a branch of mysticism in Islam, teaches the values of ethics, obedience, and wisdom in daily behavior, including reducing food waste production. By understanding food waste management behavior, this research hopes to help maximize household food management efficiency and reduce food waste.

Abstract

This research aims to investigate how teachers can effectively address and reduce bullying in schools and the strategies they use to create a respectful and supportive learning environment. At Muhammadiyah Junior High School in Pasuruan Regency, bullying manifests in several ways, such as upperclassmen intimidating younger students, inappropriate social exclusion, and coercive actions involving personal belongings that cause distress to victims. The study employs a qualitative, descriptive case study approach, focusing on detailed participant experiences without extensive theoretical analysis. Data collection includes interviews and observations, with an emphasis on ensuring the findings' validity and reliability. The findings suggest that schools should implement weekend character education programs led by Islamic Education teachers, with sessions concluded by Guidance and Counseling teachers. These programs encourage students to adopt positive character traits in their daily lives. Muhammadiyah Junior High School in Pasuruan Regency is committed to enforcing strong anti-bullying policies and fostering a collective approach to combat all forms of bullying, aiming to establish a safe and respectful learning environment for every student.

Abstract

This paper explores the views of various religions on justice as a value that must be upheld because it pertains to the well-being of life. The purpose is to broaden the understanding of interfaith ideologies in Indonesia. This research employs a qualitative approach, relying on literature studies analyzed descriptively. The paper concludes that there are several perspectives on the definition of justice. According to Islam, justice is divided into three forms: first, justice in a material and immaterial sense, closely related to fulfilling rights and obligations among all beings. Second, justice in the form of balance, meaning impartiality towards oneself, relatives, and those of the same faith. Third, justice as retribution, signifying the consequences of one's actions. In Christianity, the term "tsedeq" refers to righteousness, associated with God’s justice in His covenant to sustain, save, and act against His people's enemies. In Hinduism, as presented in the Vedas, justice is a trait of actions and behavior. God bestows justice evenly upon all beings, allowing them to act and liberate themselves from samsara (repeated birth) as a result of their deeds. In Buddhism, according to the Tripitaka, justice refers to the potential and virtues within humans, which are inherently unbound by the physical body. In Confucianism, as taught in the Si Shu, justice is viewed as equality that must be upheld. The goal in Confucian teachings is to cultivate virtuous, loving, truthful, just, dutiful, wise, and trustworthy individuals
