Abstract

ABSTRACTThis study aims to determine the vegetative appearance of three genotypes of large-seeded soybean under puddle stress. The Experimental method was used and the plastic buckets as the experimental units were arranged using a Split Plot Design. The main plot was the stress factor (S) consisting of normal conditions (S0) and puddle stress (S1), and the subplot was the genotype factor (G) consisting of G1 (KH1), G2 (Argomulyo), and G2 (Grobogan). Each genotype was repeated four times. The observed variables were plant height, number of leaves, leaf area, number of productive branches, specific leaf weight, root/shoot dry weight ratio. The results showed that there were significantly differences in the appearance of the vegetative characters of the three genotypes of large seeded soybean under puddle stress conditions, especially on plant height, leaf area, plant dry weight, and shoot dry weight. Under puddle stress conditions, KH1 showed the highest of the plant height, root dry weight, and shoot dry weight. Argomulyo showed the highest of the leaf area, while Grobogan did not show as a tolerant variety under puddle stress conditions.

Abstract

One of the obstacles in increasing maize production in Indonesia is the low efficiency of fertilizer use by plants as a result of low levels of organic matter in the soil. Although it only occupies a portion of approximately 2-10%, the role played by organic matter in the soil is very large, both in physical, chemical and biological aspects. One of the practical and efficient alternatives to increase organic matter in the soil is through the management of cover crops (TPT). In this study, individually or after being combined into one, three types of TPT were stocked before the harvest of the predecessor plant (rice). As a comparison, plots without TPT were also provided. Rice litter together with TPT biomass from each TPT treatment was returned to the soil after rice was harvested in a separate plot pattern. In each TPT treatment plot, fertilization treatments were made with a dose of 0 kg/ha NPK, 100 kg/ha NPK, 200 kg/ha NPK and 300 kg/ha NPK. The experimental results showed that TPT biomass had a positive impact on increasing the growth and yield of sweet corn on vertisol soils. Provision of cover crops in the form of a mixture of cowpea, mung bean and krotalaria tended to have a better effect than individual administration. From the results of this experiment, it is also known that the provision of precursor plant biomass combined with TPT biomass can reduce the use of chemical fertilizers by 50-60% of the maximum plant requirement.

Abstract

Hasilnya, FT2PSS mampu mereduksi overshoot -0,035 deg.

Abstract

through the development of carbon zinc as an organic material produced from photosynthesis and stored and transported in the form of seagrass vegetation biomass. Seagrass is one of the aquatic vegetation that is able to absorb and store carbon. Seagrasses have the ability to absorb carbon through the process of photosynthesis. The purpose of this study was to describe the potential carbon content of seagrass species in the South Coastal Waters of East Lombok. This type of research is an expolarative descriptive research. The research method is a quadratic transect method. The population of this study were all seagrass species contained in 3 research stations. The collected data was then analyzed using analysis of seagrass species composition, seagrass cover, seagrass density, diversity, uniformity, dominance and analysis of carbon content through seagrass stand biomass (leaves, rhizomes/stems and roots). The result of this research is the discovery of 9 species of seagrass on Lungkak Beach and 5 species of seagrass on Gili Kere and Poton Bakau. The species density in the three study sites ranged from 0.09 to 56.91 stands/m2. Seagrass biomass values ranged from 1.47-261.9 gbk/m2 and total carbon content ranged from 295.91±202.88 gC. The value of this biomass and carbon content was dominated by seagrass species with large morphology such as Enhalus acroides, Thalasia hemprici, Cymodocea rotundata, and Cymodocea cerillata and high density and cover values of seagrass. The relationship between seagrass cover and seagrass carbon has a significant relationship where the higher the seagrass cover, the higher the carbon content of the seagrass.

Abstract

Mangrove ecosystems have an important role in coastal areas. Mangroves have a function as a shelter, foraging for food, and breeding various aquatic biota. Damage to mangrove forests can cause the service of mangrove ecosystems to decrease, especially for mollusk life. Mollusks are one of the associated biotas of mangroves whose life is influenced by mangrove forests. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to determine the diversity of mollusks and the relationship between mollusk density and mangrove density in the mangrove ecosystem of the southern coast of East Lombok. A sampling of mollusks used the quadrate sampling method by purposive sampling by taking into account the mangrove species contained in the observation plot. The collected data were analyzed by diversity index, distribution pattern, association, and Pearson correlation coefficient. Then a simple linear regression analysis was performed with the independent variable (x) mangrove density and the dependent variable (y) mollusk density. The results of this study were the discovery of 22 species of mollusks consisting of 17 species of gastropods and five species of bivalves. The density of mollusks in the mangrove ecosystem of the southern coast of East Lombok is 44.50±2.63 ind./m2. The diversity index at the study site was classified as moderate, with a value ranging from 1.99 to 2.46. The distribution pattern of mollusks at the research site is clustered with an Id value > 1. There are eight mollusk species associated with three mangrove species from 22 mollusk species found. The linear regression equation y = 0.084x – 0.2963 with a Pearson correlation coefficient (r) 0.95 describes a strong relationship between the independent variable (x) mangrove density and the dependent variable (y) mollusk density. This study concludes that there is a significant relationship between mangrove density and mollusk density as indicated by F-hit(41.01) > F-table (7.70) and P-value (0.003) < (0.05).

Abstract

Gili Matra Aquatic Tourism Park has two conservation targets, namely biological targets and social, cultural and economic targets. Coral reef ecosystems, apart from being a conservation target, are also an attraction for tourists to visit. This research was conducted to determine the condition of the coral reef ecosystem to be used as the basis for the management of conservation areas. The research was conducted by collecting coral reef data either through surveys or secondary data from the results of previous studies. Coral reef survey using the standard Line Intercept Transect method. The survey results show that the condition of coral reefs in the utilization zone is better than the core zone. Live coral cover in the utilization zone reached 71% so it was categorized as good, while in the core zone it only reached 8% so it was categorized as bad. Coral reefs in the core zone are unable to recover even though the number of tourists has decreased during the Covid-19 pandemic. Therefore, the location of the core zone on Gili Air needs to be evaluated further so that the effectiveness of Gili Matra TWP management can be improved.  Key words: coral reefs; Gili Matra; Conservation

Abstract

Bedil Island is included in the Keramat, Bedil, and Temudong Small Island Park (TPK), which was approved by the Regent of Sumbawa. Administratively, this island is included in the Labuan Bajo Village area, Sumbawa, NTB. There is the existence of coral reef ecosystems in these waters that form a reef flat and reef slope profile, that stretches to the southwest and northeast. By its designation as a small island park, the coral reefs in Bedil Island are used as an underwater tourism object. This study aims to determine the current condition of coral reef cover in the waters around Bedil Island, especially in the eastern and southern parts of the island. Coral reefs in the north and west area are limited and there is the existence of seagrass beds. The line intercept transect method is carried out by spreading the roll meter as far as 50 meters on the east and south sides of the island with a depth of 2-3 meters. The coral lifeform that is tangent with the roll meter is then recorded and then analyzed for the average percent cover, clustering status, and coral mortality index. Coral reefs in the eastern and southern parts of Bedil Island are classified as very good/excellent because they have a percent cover value above 75%. In addition, the coral mortality index value is also relatively small which indicates that the corals are living well. Clearwater conditions and locations far from human settlements are thought to be factors that support coral survival. However, the presence of dead coral algae and rubble still indicates a threat of damage even though the value is small. Algae life on the surface of dead coral also indicates that the coral has been dead for a long time.

Abstract

This study was aimed to determine the average of leaf angle, yield and harvest age of each F2 line compared to the two parents respectively. In addition, we also want to evaluate the coefficient of genetic diversity and heritability of the three traits. The experiment was designed in a randomized block design with a total treatment of 20 populations, namely 16 F2 lines and 4 parents. Each treatment was repeated 3 times, so that 60 experimental units were obtained. The experimental data were analyzed by analysis of variance at the 5 percent significance level and further tests using the Least Significant Difference at the same significance level. The results showed that the F2 P8IS x T1NK7328 (R16), F2 P8IS x T1NK7328 (R18) lines, and the F2 P8IS x NK212 (R4) lines, had leaf angles same as each parent of the first hybrid/hybrid offspring (T1NK7328 and NK212) and smaller than the Sinta Unram. The harvest time of the three F2 lines was classified as super early. Yield (weight of dry seeds per plot) of F2 P8IS x T1NK7328 (R16), F2 P8IS x T1NK7328 (R18) lines, were the same as both parents and F2 P8IS x NK212 (R4) lines, higher than Sinta Unram; but the same as the hybrid parent (NK212). Coefficient of genetic diversity of yield is high; medium for harvest time and low for leaf angle. Heritability in broad sense is classified as high, obtained at harvest time and yield; while the heritability of leaf angle is low. The three F2 lines can be used as basic population material for subsequent breeding activities. Key words: hybridization; Sinta Unram; yield; leaf angle

Abstract

Carrot is one of the vegetables that people like because it has many health benefits related to the content of B vitamins, vitamin C, and other substances, thereby increasing the need or demand, but not in line with the increase in the production of this plant. One of the efforts to increase production is through area expansion, and the lowlands are the target of its development. This study aims to determine the growth and yield of carrots grown in the lowlands by applying rice straw mulch. This research was conducted in a rice field area, in Bagek Polak Village, West Lombok Regency, West Nusa Tenggara with an altitude of 26 m above sea level in July-October 2020. The field experiment with the experimental method was designed according to a Randomized Block Design with one factor, namely the thickness of rice straw mulch. (m0 = no straw mulch; m1 = 1 layer mulch thickness; m2 = 2 layers mulch thickness; m3 = 3 layers mulch thickness; m4 = 4 layers mulch thickness) was repeated four times so that there were 20 experimental units. The results showed that rice straw mulch had a significant effect on the growth and yield of carrots in the lowlands. The use of 4 layers of rice straw mulch was could increase the growth and yield of carrots by 2647.75 gr/m2 or the equivalent of 21,182 tons/ha. layer; expansion; production; vegetables; tubers
