Abstract

Adhan is an Islamic symbol that not only marks the time of prayer but also conveys educational values essential for shaping Muslim character. This article examines the educational messages of the hadith on the initiation of adhan as interpreted by Indonesian scholar M. Hasbi ash-Shiddieqy in 2002 Mutiara Hadiets. The study applies library research, using Hasbi’s work as the primary source, supported by relevant literature on hadith and Islamic education. Data were analyzed descriptively and qualitatively through comparison, interpretation, and extraction of educational values. Findings reveal that the hadith on the initiation of adhan contains three central educational messages. First, the importance of intellectual intelligence and courage in reasoning, as exemplified by Umar ibn al-Khattab, which emphasizes cultivating sound reasoning and sharp intellect in Islamic education. Second, the significance of consultation (shura) in important matters as a participatory educational method that nurtures collective thinking, respect for differing opinions, and wise decision-making. Third, the method of legal deduction (istinbath) that prioritizes substantive meaning and public interest (maqasid al-shari‘ah), enabling Islamic education to transcend textualism and respond to contemporary challenges. Thus, Hasbi’s interpretation demonstrates that hadiths serve not only as normative texts but also as pedagogical sources that shape critical, dialogical, and adaptive individuals relevant to modern contexts.

Abstract

The global environmental crisis increasingly threatens the sustainability of human life, requiring the involvement of various parties, including religious institutions. From an Islamic perspective, humans are viewed as khalīfah who have a responsibility to maintain the balance of the ecosystem. This article aims to analyze the role of da'wah management in environmental education and strengthening public ecological awareness. This study uses a qualitative approach with a conceptual type, through a literature review covering the theories of da'wah management, environmental education, eco-pedagogy, and the practice of environmental da'wah in society. The results of the study show that da'wah management plays a strategic role through the functions of planning, organizing, implementing, and supervising environmental da'wah programs. Dakwah functions as an instrument of ecological education through dakwah bil-lisan, bil-kitabah, and bil-hal, which instill values of caring for the environment. The main challenges lie in low ecological literacy, limited resources, and weak synergy between institutions. However, the prospects for environmental da'wah are quite promising through innovative strategies, such as the use of digital technology, cross-sector collaboration, and mosque-based community empowerment. The novelty of this article lies in its offer of a conceptual framework for integrating da'wah management and Islamic eco-pedagogy as a new model of da'wah that is ecologically oriented and sustainable.

Abstract

The increasing complexity of modern life, particularly in the digital era, poses significant challenges to maintaining a holistic balance between physical and spiritual well-being among Muslim communities. Traditional da'wah approaches often emphasize ritual and doctrinal practices, neglecting the integrative needs of both bodily health and inner spirituality. This study addresses this gap by investigating the implementation of a Sufi-inspired approach to da'wah that harmonizes the jasmani (physical) and rohani (spiritual) dimensions to meet contemporary demands. Employing a qualitative research methodology grounded in literature review and case study analysis, this research explores how modern Sufi teachings and digital media platforms facilitate comprehensive spiritual development and social empowerment. The findings reveal that integrating physical practices such as healthy lifestyle promotion and mindfulness meditation with spiritual exercises like dhikr creates measurable improvements in community psychological well-being and social cohesion. Additionally, the adoption of digital applications and virtual communities expands the reach and personalization of spiritual guidance, fostering sustained engagement in both physical and spiritual health. This fusion of classical Sufi wisdom with modern methods marks a novel paradigm in Islamic da'wah, referred to as “social tasawwuf,” which supports holistic human development and addresses challenges such as social alienation, identity erosion, and spiritual fragmentation. The research concludes that contemporary da'wah strategies must incorporate this holistic model to remain relevant and impactful. Future research should focus on empirical assessments of digital tasawwuf interventions and explore frameworks for integrating these models systematically into broader religious education and community development.

Abstract

The rapid advancement of digital technology and the pervasive influence of social media have brought about complex challenges for the Millennial generation in forming stable identity and spiritual foundations. This study addresses the crisis of identity and spirituality among Millennials, positioning the research within the framework of psychosocial theory integrated with digital-based da’wah management. The objective is to develop an adaptive and holistic da’wah management model that effectively mitigates identity confusion and spiritual vulnerability in this era. Employing a qualitative descriptive approach, the study synthesizes literature reviews and empirical data gathered through interviews with da’wah practitioners and Millennial participants. The findings reveal that the psychosocial approach combined with strategic utilization of digital platforms fosters enhanced engagement, community building, and spiritual resilience among Millennials. This model emphasizes personalized, interactive, and contextually relevant da’wah that transforms traditional top-down messaging into participatory communication dialogues. Moreover, the study identifies the necessity for multidimensional collaboration among religious leaders, psychologists, and digital media experts to maintain program relevance and continuity. The sustained evaluation based on psychosocial and digital metrics ensures program effectiveness and improvement. In conclusion, the integration of psychosocial insights with digital da’wah management is critical in addressing the spiritual and identity crises faced by Millennials, offering a practical framework for contemporary Islamic propagation. This research contributes significantly to evolving da’wah strategies that are consonant with today’s digital and social realities, empowering Millennials as active agents of positive religious and social transformation.

Abstract

This study examines the intersection of dakwah (Islamic preaching) and identity politics within the contemporary socio-political context of Indonesia. The research addresses the rising influence of identity politics based on religious affiliation and its impact on social cohesion and political behavior. By employing a mixed-methods approach that includes surveys and in-depth interviews with religious leaders, preachers, and community members, the study explores how dakwah functions both as a tool for political mobilization and as a potential mediator fostering social harmony. Key findings reveal that while dakwah is often co-opted to advance exclusive political agendas leading to increased polarization and social fragmentation, moderate dakwah practices promote inclusivity, tolerance, and conflict mitigation. The research highlights the strategic role of moderate dakwah in countering divisive identity politics, especially when integrated with digital media platforms, thus extending its outreach and dialogical capacity. The study concludes that maintaining the moral and spiritual integrity of dakwah requires regulatory frameworks that prevent its excessive politicization. Future research is recommended to deepen the understanding of digital media’s influence on dakwah and identity politics, as well as longitudinal studies to track their evolving dynamics in Indonesia's pluralistic society. This work contributes to scholarly discourse by proposing a context-sensitive model of dakwah that balances religious messaging with socio-political realities, aiming to support peacebuilding and democratic consolidation.

Abstract

important place for Muslims, because the main function of the mosque is as a place of worship. The purpose of this study is to explore the mosque as an educational institution and the supporting and inhibiting factors in education at the Gemma mosque. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach, with a case study type. Data were collected through interviews, observations, and documentation. While data analysis was carried out with a cycle of data collection, data reduction, data presentation and drawing conclusions. In testing the validity of the data, source triangulation and data triangulation were carried out. While the subjects of the study were the takmir administrators, congregation, and all matters related to the Gemma Prenduan mosque section. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the role of the Gemma Prenduan mosque has been running smoothly and well. This can be seen from various Islamic education activities that have been held, such as the Majelis Taklim, namely various scientific studies and the existence of TPA, yellow book studies and the excitement of the month of Ramadan. So that it is able to create people with Islamic morals, faith, and piety. Supporting factors: the availability of mosques as a fairly good educational facility equipped with supporting educational facilities and infrastructure, the arrangement of a fairly good activity program so that the desired goals will be achieved, the number of congregations is large and always active. Inhibiting factors: human resources, lack of awareness of participants to follow longer activities, and time in following the activity process.

Abstract

The problem raised in this study is the differences and similarities in the thoughts of Al Ghazali and Ibnu Al Haytham regarding the concept of happiness, and how these two figures contribute to the understanding of happiness in the context of Islamic thought. The purpose of this study is to analyze and compare the views of these two figures with a focus on the source of happiness, the approaches used, and the importance of balance in life. The method used in this study is qualitative analysis with a comparative method. The results of this study show that Al Ghazali emphasizes that true happiness comes from closeness to God and spiritual pursuits, while Ibn Al Haytham focuses on the search for knowledge and scientific understanding as a path to happiness. Despite these differences and approaches, both agree on the importance of balance in life, where Al Ghazali highlights the balance between spiritual and worldly aspects, while Ibn Al Haytham emphasizes the balance between intellectual and physical needs. The conclusion of this study is that the thoughts of Al Ghazali and Ibn Al Haytham, although coming from different backgrounds, complement each other in providing insights into happiness. By combining spiritual and intellectual dimensions, the understanding of happiness in the context of Islamic thought becomes more holistic and becomes a reference for individuals in seeking true happiness.
