Abstract

This research was conducted to understand the perception of people in Tawangmangu, Central Java in terms of the potential of teaching TEK in primary schools, challenges, and teaching strategies. We conducted semi-structured and unstructured interviews with 77 participants (local TEK experts, local communities, educators, and education officials). TEK in Tawangmangu includes folktales, ceremonies, offerings, typical food, terraced farming, intercropping systems, irrigation systems, crop management, herbal medicine, traditional house, and social system. Participants supported the idea because the TEK began to become extinct and identified its delivery in formal schools as a bridge to maintain it. Factors identified as obstacles are limited study time, limited access to subject matter, lack of political support, and differences in the characteristics of knowledge transfer between science and TEK. Participants claimed that the most appropriate strategy for teaching it in primary schools was to bring students closer to the real context. To teach it, the teacher chooses a number of contextual learning methods that are considered suitable, like field trips, role playing, task-based learning, and project-based learning.

Abstract

This study attempted to describe the forms of Javanese language development through campursari songs based on Ferguson’s language planning theory. This study used a descriptive qualitative design where the data were collected with the documentation method, that was to collect words, phrases, clauses, and sentences from campursari song lyrics containing elements of development. Data analysis was performed using sharing method with substitution techniques. The results of the analysis showed that the Javanese language development was divided into two forms. The first form was graphization through the establishment of pronunciation and spelling by intensifying Latin words to write either vocal or consonant Javanese words in texts. The second form was modernization through lexicon extension where the Javanese language underwent a shift in the use of old terms and language extensification that was marked by the emergence of novel words or terms. The Javanese language development forms were affected by some factors, including the development of the Javanese society social life as well as the Indonesian language intervention and integration. This has become part of shared agreement to maintain the Javanese language existence both in the present and for the future.

Abstract

This research aimed to describe the idiomatic constructions of lexeme of BAPAK in Bahasa Indonesia (BI). The language description method used in this study was adopted from the semantic analysis model suggested by Langlotz (2006). The sources of the data were the corpus websites that provided the BI data-set. Observation was used to collect the data and a distributional technique was used to analyze the data. The results of the analysis described that the idiomatic constructions of lexeme of BAPAK had two patterns of constructions and three types of proposition that were embedded in them. Thus, it can be inferred that the idiomatic constructions of BAPAK can be described through their structural patterns and types of proposition.

The result of the analysis shows that sound variations of prefix /in-/ in French are [iŋ-], [in-], [im-], [il-], [iʁ-]. The phonological process that occurs in it is an assimilation process. Assimilation process that occurs in the form of nasalization because there are changes in the sound of consonants that are nasalized in the nasal sound environment.
