Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui fenomena aliran fluida pendingin pada upper hose radiator modifikasi. Penampang upper hose radiator yang berbentuk bulat sebagiannya diganti dengan bentuk persegi untuk keperluan penyerapan panas thermoelectric generator. Penelitian dilakukan secara simulasi dengan mempergunakan perangkat lunak SolidWork 2013. Jenis fluida yang dipilih untuk simulasi adalah air dengan kecepatan aliran 0,625 m/detik. Hasil penelitian memperlihatkan bahwa penggunaan upper hose radiator modifikasi menyebabkan distribusi tekanan fluida dari daerah hulu (upstream) ke daerah hilir (downstream) lebih rendah 1 kPa apabila dibandingkan ketika menggunakan upper hose radiator standar atau tanpa modifikasi. Penggunaan upper hose radiator modifikasi juga menghasilkan vortex (pusaran) dan menyebabkan aliran fluida pada daerah tertentu menjadi stagnan (diam). Hal ini tidak dialami oleh upper hose radiator standar (tanpa modifikasi).

Abstract

VIMS (Visual Induced Motion Sickness) yang dialami oleh operator alat welding simulator dapat diukur menggunakan HRV (Heart Rate Variability) sebagai penilaian objektif dan SSQ (Simulator Sickness Quesioner) sebagai penilaian subjektif. Pengukuran parameter tersebut dapat mengetahui ada atau tidaknya pengaruh manusia terhadap performance operator simulator welding. Adapun tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah mencari hubungan antara pengaruh heart rate variability dalam penggunaan welding simulator terhadap performance welder. Heart Rate diukur selama simulasi kemudian dianalisis lebih lanjut menggunakan software. Pada penilaian HRV, ternyata heart rate berpengaruh secara signifikan terhadap penggunaan alat welding simulator yaitu (F(2,23) = 3.670, p<0.05). Hasil ini menunjukkan bahwa dalam penggunaan welding simulator dalam jangka waktu yang lama akan berpengaruh pada kestabilan heart rate pada welder. Sedangkan, dari segi performance welder, diketahui posisi vertikal memiliki nilai tertinggi dengan skor 1344,35 yang menunjukkan bahwa posisi vertikal adalah posisi yang paling mudah dikuasai dibandingkan dengan posisi flat 1239,96 dan over head 1181,73.

Abstract

Pada tulisan ini membahas tentang desain, konstruksi dan kontrol robot penyeimbang diri dari obstacle avoiding robot roda dua. Rangkaian sistem terdiri dari sepasang motor DC dan papan mikrokontroler Arduino, dengan menggunakan sebuah sensor ping HC-SR04 yang merupakan sensor ultrasonik untuk mendeteksi jarak ke rintangan dan dari posisi robot berada. Hasil yang diperoleh dari uji coba menunjukkan nilai jarak terhadap nilai ping (ping number) tegak lurus, semakin bertambahnya jarak maka akan semakin tinggi waktu ping yang di hasilkan. Nilai jarak sensor ke objek dan waktu ping paling rendah yaitu 2 cm, dan 132 µS, dan yang paling tinggi dengan jarak 20 cm dengan waktu ping yaitu 1160 µS. Semakin jauh jarak obstacle maka waktu yang diperlukan sensor untuk mengirimkan kembali hasil deteksi juga lebih lama.

Abstract

Pulau Batam merupakan salah satu pulau di Kota Batam yang sedang mengalami kemajuan pembangunan yang pesat. Pembangunan tersebut memiliki dampak terhadap lingkungan di sekitarnya seperti perubahan suhu pada wilayah di pulau Batam. Peningkatan suhu yang berbeda-beda di setiap wilayah yang ada di pulau Batam terjadi karena berkurangnya ruang terbuka hijau yang berperan sebagai pendingin alami dalam menjaga keseimbangan kelembaban dan suhu lingkungan. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah menghasilkan peta sebaran suhu penggunaan lahan di pulau Batam. penelitian ini menggunakan data sekunder berupa data citra Landsat 8 yang mencakup kawasan wilayah pulau Batam dan peta administrasi kota Batam, data primer berupa informasi suhu permukaan pulau Batam dan penggunaan lahan pulau Batam. Metode ekstraksi suhu menggunakan metode LST dan penggunaan lahan menggunakan metode klasifikasi terbimbing. Hasil dari penelitian ini berupa peta sebaran suhu penggunaan lahan di pulau Batam yang memiliki 4 kelas penggunaan lahan. Kelas daerah bervegetasi memiliki suhu yang berkisar antara 16.8 – 22.4 oC, kelas daerah tak bervegetasi memiliki suhu yang berkisar antara 22.4 – 23.6 oC, kelas daerah permukiman memiliki suhu yang berkisar antara 23.6 – 29.2 oC, dan kelas daerah perairan memiliki suhu yang berkisar antara 16.8 – 22.4 oC.

Abstract

Marine litter is waste created by human that has been discharged into the coastal or marine environment. Varied and widespread human activities can act as the source of marine litter. The sources may be located directly at sea, on the coast or inland. Litters can be transported over long distances and into marine habitat. Accumulation of marine litter can affects habitats, organism ecological function, and develops health problems. The objective of present study was to evaluate portable marine litter collector’s performance for eliminating marine litter. The methods consist of some steps i.e. measuring and comparing collected marine litter amount with the total daily average amount in the tested area which took place at Pantai Biru Sehati, Tanjung Piayu; identifying the size and type of material of the collected marine litter; measuring the scope that can be reached by the prototype; along with identifying oceanographic parameter regarding its effects on prototype performance. The results showed that the performance duration of the prototype on an optimum battery is 1 - 3 hours, 2800 rpm of motor speed, 1 - 4 kg of marine litter as the maximum weight that can be held by the prototype. Furthermore, the identified oceanographic parameters are speed current which was 0.7 m/s. The field test also indicates that the oceanographic parameter affects the prototype performance. Abstract

Primary flight control in aircraft consist of aileron, rudder and elevator, secondary flight control consist of flaps, slats, spoiler and trim tab. Before aircraft in flight, the primary and secondary flight con trol must be confirmed in balanced condition. If in unbalanced condition, flutter will occur when aircraft in flight. Flutter is an aeroelasticity phenomenon, it is a vibration phenomenon that caused aircraft wings "flapping" like a bird.This is because combination from stiffness of the wing structure, aerodynamic, and inertia (weight) from the structure. To avoid the occurrence of flutter, balancing flight control should be done, one of them is elevator tab. Elevator tab often called trim tab in elevator. Trim tab is attached to elevator that located in horizontal stabilizer. It must be confirmed in balanced condition even though elevator tab is a secondary flight control. Balancing tab elevator is by jig method procedure, which is tab must be removed first. Whether the elevator is balanced or not are determined by the value of Tab Assembly Moment (TAM) which is the result gained from this research is 15.22 lbfinch and the tab can be said balance, because according to SRM boeing 737-800 the maximum TAM range is 15.48 lbfinch. If the research obtained a result more than 15.48 lbfinch, the tab must be returned to paint shop, decreasing the load weight from the tab by peeling paint coating. If the decreasing load weight from tab can't be done, the tab is considered "rejected", so it must be replaced with the new one.

Abstract

Technological advances make the need for an automated system increases, one of which makes the fan can track the human automatically. In this study to develop a fan system that can track human based on the face and can distinguish the face with other obstacles around it, so that humans do not need to manually set in directing the fan to get the wind from the fan. To detect human faces used cameras from android smartphones that have been integrated with the Haar Cascade detection method available in the OpenCV library. While to do tracking then used PID controller with Zigler Nichols tuning method which integrated with DC motor. Based on the results of experiments the system can track the human face with an average error of 4.14%, while testing on face detection has a 100% success rate in the face of the frontal. While the system can track human based on the face with 95% success. The error is caused by the mechanical system of dc motor gearbox and camera hardware position that is not straight to the face object.

Abstract

Power source is a device that serves to supply electrical current in type of welding SMAW (Shield Metal Arc Welding), an example is DC-400 machine. The output current of machine is set using a knob on the output control panel in order to generate heat as needed welding. Along with the development, welder realized that there are limitations in the way of controlling current on the machine. Distance control that requires users to go directly to the machine caused inefficiency in work. Therefore, we need a controller for adjusting the output current from long distance. It is necessary to create "Current Control Device for DC-400 Machine Based Microcontroller and Android". This device can adjust the output current value from long distance and wireless which is a microcontroller as the central controller and android as the input source. From the results of research, the greater value of R1 in potentiometer is set, the greater welding current is generated. The average error between the welding current using the knob and remote is 4.65%.

Abstract

Sei Temiang Livestock in Batam, produce roundabout ±50 m3 of cow faeces each month. Usually, some of this waste is taken away by villagers to be used as raw material of fertilizer. To increase its value, the excrement can be utilized as source of alternative energy before the remnants are applied as organic manure. This research use baloon type as the digester of biogas power plant due to reasons such as simple installation, easy to be overhauled, and the cost is quite affordable. This prototype use a mixture of cow excrement and water with proportion of 1:1. Gas equivalent to 624 litre can be gained from 1 plastic drum which is able to turn on the electricity for 35 minutes with power capacity of 700 watts.

Abstract

Advancement in digital processing technology have benefited to the human. One of the benefits of image processing is to improve the quality of an image, eliminate noise in and identify objects. By utilizing the technology, it can be developed a system that can detect and track objects. In this article, we develop a system to detect and track an object. We use the HSVcolor filter, erosion, dilation, and thresholding methods to detect the object. To measure the distance between object and robot, we apply the mathematical regression formula. The output of the equation is then used as actuator for the dc motor. The results achieved in this study is system can detect object in the distance range 50-180 cm and follow the object in the range 60-150 cm.
