Abstract

Problem solving skills (PSS) are one of the 21st century skills, but the problems encountered show that students' PSS in science learning are still low, using the PBL model with the STEM approach could be a solution to the students’ problems. So, that the purpose of this study was to determine the effect of applying the PBL model with STEM approach to students' PSS. The method used in this research is quasi experimental method with one group pre-test-post-test design. The research population was students of class VIIA at a SMPN in Jombang. The instrument used was in the form of multiple choice questions with reference to PSS indicators, the data obtained is processed statistically and the results are analysed using n-gain calculations. Based on the results of the analysis, it can be concluded that the application of the PBL model with the STEM approach has an effect on the PSS of students in the moderate n-gain category, when viewed from the PSS indicator, the problem identification indicator gets the highest average of 94% followed by the indicator of setting goals, formulating solutions, and implementing solutions with an average of 72%, and result evaluation indicator with the lowest average of 66%.

Abstract

The learning outcomes of class V at SDN Bendungan Semarang in science subjects on the human circulatory system are low. The average learning outcome of fifth-grade students at SDN Bendungan is 63, where the score is less than the standard of minimum value for science subjects, namely 75. This study aims to develop the learning media "Digital Comics for Education on the Human Circulatory System" as well as to test the design of media development, test the feasibility of media, as well as to find out the effectiveness of the learning media "Digital Comic Education for the Human Blood Circulation System." The method used in this study is the Research and Development method with the Borg and Gall development model. The subjects in this research and development were: (1) Grade V students at SDN Bendungan Semarang in the 2022/2023 school year with 28 students; (2) Class V teachers at SDN Bendungan; (3) experts, expert lecturers, or experts as testers of learning media and provide input to the learning media. Data collection techniques are questionnaires, interviews, documentation, observation, and tests. Data analysis used validity, reliability, normality, t-tests, and N-gain tests. Based on the study's results, suitable for use with a percentage of material experts' assessment of 86% and a percentage of media experts' assessment of 95%. The percentage of teacher responses is 91%, and the percentage of student responses is 89%. The t-test result is 0.000, so there is a significant difference between the pretest and the post-test results. The result of the N-gain test is 0.60957 in the medium criteria category. So that the results obtained are: (1) the design of learning media that is developed according to the needs of students and teachers in teaching and learning activities; (2) the assessment of media experts and material experts with very feasible criteria; (3) the use of effective learning media in increasing student effectiveness and motivation. Based on the responses of teachers and students, the results of the study show that learning media is appropriate for use in teaching and learning activities

Abstract

This examination plans to deliver a sound wave module in light of the CPS learning model that is reasonable for use in the secondary school/Mama physical science educational experience. The sort of exploration utilized is improvement research (R&D) with the ADDIE model (Analyze, Plan, Advancement, Execution, Assessment). The examination instruments utilized were approval sheets and reaction sheets for instructors and understudies with a size of four likerts given to 3 specialists, 3 educators, and 26 understudies of SMA Negeri 1 Kampar Timur. Abstract

This study aims to develop an android-based game learning media by applying the steps of the ADDIE model RnD research method. The data collection technique was in the form of a validated questionnaire for media experts, linguists, materials, teachers, and student responses. The results of media, material, and language validation were 0.917; 0.898, and 0.791 with very feasible criteria for media and material validation, while for language validation it shows feasible criteria. The classical mastery of student learning outcomes reached 94% and the N percent gain of 59.34 indicated that the criteria were quite effective. Student responses were seen from the usefulness, convenience, and satisfaction indicators each of 0.82; 0.9; and 0.92 indicating very good response criteria. The teacher's response questionnaire, seen from the indicators of presentation and use of language, was 0.9 and 0.875 respectively, indicating very good response criteria, while in the indicators of instructions for use, the suitability of the material and suitability for student needs were each 0.75; 0.8; and 0.79 indicates good response criteria. The results of the application of android-based science learning media with an inquiry approach can improve the critical thinking skills of class IV students on style material.

Abstract

Abstract: Indonesia as a region with a tropical climate has a variety of plants spread across various regions. These plants contain many chemicals that can easily be used as traditional medicine, one of which is bidara leaves (Ziziphus Mauritiana). Bidara leaves are not only used by people in China, but Indonesian people also use Ziziphus Mauritiana as a medicine for dysentery, diarrhea and gum swelling. Wide distribution and in large quantities in Indonesia makes it easy for people to cultivate and use it. Much research has been conducted to discuss the efficacy of Ziziphus Mauritiana. The research aims to determine the various benefits of Ziziphus mauritiana leaves which have been scientifically proven through research in Indonesia. Method: Conduct a literature search using the Google Scholar application and analyze the literature that meets the inclusion criteria. Results: From the search results and research results, we concluded about the benefits of Ziziphus mauritiana leaves. Conclusion: The greatest benefit of Ziziphus mauritiana leaves is as an antimicrobial, apart from that there are many other benefits such as analgesic, antipyretic and anti-inflammatory, anticancer, and functions as a plant that can reduce cholesterol levels in the leaves.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the characteristics of learning media based on Augmented Reality in the mushroom sexual reproduction sub-material, determine the feasibility of learning media based on Augmented Reality, and determine the effectiveness of learning media based on Augmented Reality to improve students analytical thinking skills. The data analysis used was the Manova test. The results of the study are the characteristics of media have 3D objects with moving animation, are interactive, for Android users, have AR manuals, are independent, and real-time. Learning media based on Augmented Reality on the mushroom sexual reproduction sub-material is declared feasible to use in the process of learning activities. The results of the Manova test get a Sig. 0.000 which means there is a significant difference in the analytical thinking skills who use and do not use AR media.

Abstract

Science education is one of the important subjects in the scientific structure studied in our world of education. During the Covid-19 pandemic by considering the condition of the readiness of supporting infrastructure for online learning implementation, IT-based teacher skills, and online learning evaluation, this science subject was transformed to students. The purpose of this study is to describe the planning, organizing, implementing, and monitoring of Science Education, especially in public junior high schools in Lampung Province. This research is a qualitative research with an educational ethnography study design, and the research participants are principals of MKKS junior high schools in Lampung Province. This study used interviews, observations and documentation to collect data, which were then evaluated using the interactive model analysis. The findings of this study are as follows: (1) Natural Science lesson plans are prepared by taking into account student characteristics, materials, and the use of applications for learning implementation; (2) the organization of Natural Science learning begins with the formation of Whatsapp groups, the direction of learning meetings using Google Classroom and Google Meet by sharing links through Whatsapp groups; and (3) optimization of learning implementation in this science subject is still limited: 50% of public junior high schools in Lampung Province have limited internet bandwidth; (4) monitoring, science subject teachers have difficulty in conducting learning assessment because they cannot organize students in a perfect setting.

Abstract

The high burden of final waste management causes pollution due to the low contribution of prevention at the source. The composition of Indonesia's food waste reaches 40.62%. Proper food waste management has become a challenge because the habit of segregation at the household level is still low. Home-composting is an option for management from sources with technology that is easy to operate, but its use still needs to be improved. This study looks at the factors influencing people's behaviour in composting-based household food waste management. The objective of this study is to analyze the variables of attitudes, subjective norms, and behavioural control, which affect behaviour in home-composting activities, using the theory of planned behaviour model. A quantitative approache with multiple regression analysis was used in the study. Subjective norms and behavioural control significantly (p < 0.05) influence home-composting behaviour, while attitudes (p > 0.05) do not influence home-composting.

Abstract

This study aims to 1) determine the feasibility of smart apps creator-based learning media used in learning activities, and 2) determine the effectiveness of Smart Apps Creator-based learning media to improve Critical Thinking and Problem Solving skills in Global Warming Materials for Class X Students of SMAN 4 Berau. This research is a Research and Development (R&D) study which refers to the ADDIE model. This research was conducted on 30 students in limited trials and field trials using class X1 and X3 students each of 32 students. The results of the study are that the learning media developed meet the eligibility based on expert judgment and effective learning media in improving critical thinking skills and problem solving abilities. The results of the Manova test show a sig value of 0.000 <0.05, namely Ha is accepted so that there are differences in critical thinking skills and problem-solving abilities between students who use Smart Apps Creator learning media and PowerPoint learning media. The N-gain test of learning media on critical thinking skills gets a score of 68.82 which means it is quite effective and for problem solving skills it gets a score of 91.64 which means it is effective.

Abstract

An increasing mortality rate in many places including highways, workplaces, schools, or even in the home mostly occurred because of low knowledge of first aid with the proper and correct procedure. The first aid knowledge for heart diseases patient remains low among family members to prevent the worsening condition of the patients. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of first aid education on basic life support (BLS) among family members with heart disease in Lingkar Timur Primary Health Care, Bengkulu City. The design of this study was a quasi-experiment with a pre and post-test. Totally 40 respondents who contributed to this study who selected by simple random sampling. The intervention has been done by giving the demonstration, and audio-visual knowledge about basic life survey (BLS). The average age of the respondents was 30.23 years, more than half of the respondents were female by 26 people (65%), and more than half of the respondents graduated from senior high school by 21 people (52.5%). Most of the respondents work as an entrepreneur by 10 people (25%). Most of the respondents' income was <Rp 1,000,000 by 16 people (40%). The results showed that there was an effect of education with audio-visual and BLS demonstration on the skills of doing BLS (p-value 0.000 < 0.05). Training effects increasing the knowledge and skills of BLS respondents. Emergency training needs to be given to all people as a form of early awareness of emergency conditions
