Abstract

The research objective was to develop a STEM project-based virtual learning module to improve students' higher-level thinking abilities. This research is a Research and Development research by following the steps of the EDDIE model (Analysis, Design, Develop, Implementation and Evaluation). The Analysis stage is an analysis of the initial study on the need for the development of STEM-based Virtual Learning Media. This stage is carried out through survey research. The Design stage is the stage of designing Virtual STEM learning, designing the form of the technology, placing HOT elements, STEM project design, manufacturing techniques, and calculating the size and aesthetics of the media. The Develop stage, making the media into media is declared valid according to the validator, where the validator consists of 2 material experts, 3 media experts, 2 pedagogical experts, and 2 teachers. The Implementation phase is the module testing stage for students. The results obtained were that the project-based STEM virtual learning module was valid with an average assessment score of more than 3. And the results of the module trial on students showed that this module had been declared interesting, useful, and easy to use. The next stage is a project-based virtual STEM module that can be tested through experimental research

Abstract

To promote the application of the STEM approach in science learning, it is necessary to provide cheap, easy-to-obtain, and effective STEM project support materials. In addition, science teachers should try to plan and implement STEM in their teaching, even for simple projects. To overcome the problem of the length of time on projects in science teaching, we propose "STEM at Home", a term that means that STEM projects are carried out by students at home under the supervision of parents or families. In order for this home project-based learning to be effective, we have prepared a STEM at Home Kit and Worksheet for Junior High Schools students. We chose the topic Simple. The STEM at Home Kit and Worksheet that have been developed, have received expert approval as learning media that are suitable for use. One-to-one evaluation with 3 participants, and a small group evaluation with 14 participants, were carried out to obtain feedback on students’ difficulties in using the product, their perceptions of the product, and their perceptions of the potential impact produced by the instructional product. The results of this evaluation showed that the STEM at Home Project Kit and Worksheet are valid and practically used in science learning, especially on the topic of Simple Machine

Abstract

The Covid-19 pandemic has a significant impact on the quality of the science learning process. Online learning restricts students from directly interacting with science tools and materials. It takes effort from science educators to facilitate students in direct learning activities (hands on activity). This research is an attempt to facilitate students in learning by doing activities. In general, this study aims to provide a STEM project KIT that students can use in online-based junior high school science learning. Based on the results of the study in the analysis phase, the researcher has identified and designed three simple STEM projects that can be built as applications for the Dynamic Electricity concept. The three STEM projects are the Fruit Electric Energy Content Exploration Project, the Flood Alarm Model Making Project, and the Micro-Hydro Power Plant Model Building Project. For the purposes of these three student STEM projects, the researcher has built a KIT with stages including: tool and material selection, assembly, and expert validation. This research has produced a prototype of the Dynamic Electricity Application STEM Project KIT which is declared valid and feasible as a medium for junior secondary science learning, both for online and offline learning. Kata kunci: dynamic electrical applications, design and validation, STEM project KITs, online science learning  ABSTRAKPandemi Covid-19 memberikan dampak yang signifikan terhadap mutu proses pembelajaran IPA. Pembelajaran daring membatasi siswa sehingga tidak dapat berinteraksi secara langsung dengan alat-alat dan bahan IPA. Perlu usaha dari para pendidik IPA untuk memfasilitasi siswa dalam aktivitas belajar secara langsung (hands on activity). Penelitian ini merupakan salah satu usaha untuk memfasiltasi siswa dalam aktivitas learning by doing tersebut. Secara umum penelitian bertujuan menyediakan perangkat KIT proyek STEM yang dapat digunakan siswa dalam pembelajaran IPA SMP berbasis daring. Berdasarkan hasil kajian pada fasa analisis, peneliti telah mengidentifikasi dan mendesain tiga proyek STEM sederhana yang dapat dibangun sebagai aplikasi konsep Listrik Dinamis. Ketiga proyek STEM tersebut adalah Proyek Eksplorasi Kandungan Energi Listrik Buah-buahan, Proyek Pembuatan Model Alarm Banjir, dan Proyek Pembuatan Model Pembangkit Listrik Mikrohidro. Untuk keperluan ketiga proyek STEM siswa tersebut, peneliti telah membangun KIT dengan tahapan meliputi: pemilihan alat dan bahan, perakitan, dan validasi pakar. Penelitian ini telah menghasilkan sebuak prototype KIT Proyek STEM Aplikasi Listrik Dinamis yang dinyatakan sah dan layak sebagai media pembelajaran IPA SMP, baik untuk pembelajaran daring maupun luring.Kata kunci: aplikasi listrik dinamis, desain dan validasi, KIT proyek STEM, pembelajaran IPA daring

Abstract

Learning is still centered on the teacher with the habit of the lecture method and students only accept what the teacher says so that students do not absorb the full learning. To overcome this, student-centered learning is needed which can be overcome by using learning media, one of which is e-modules. The purpose of this research was to produce an e-module of guided inquiry learning assisted by a virtual lab on valid and practical straight motion dynamics material. This type of research uses research and development (R&D) with the ADDIE development model which is limited to practicality at the development step. The developed e-module is divided into 3 meetings. Data were collected through a validation assessment sheet consisting of material, media, and pedagogic aspects which were validated by 3 experts. In addition, e-module practicality data consisting of ease of use, efficiency, language, and benefits use a practicality assessment sheet. The data obtained were analyzed descriptively. The validation results show that the e-module obtained an average of 3.63 with a valid category, while the results of the practicality test by the teacher's response got an average of 3.73 in the very high category and the average student response results in 3.66 in the very high category. It can be concluded that the guided inquiry learning e-module assisted by a virtual lab on linear motion dynamics material is valid and practical, so it is expected to help high school students in learning physics.

Abstract

Science learning outcomes such as science process skills and attitudes toward science are still important issues in science education. In this study the researchers tried to get a picture of the students' learning outcomes to get input on the learning process of science in the coastal area. As an initial study of the development of maritime-based contextual science learning media, the purpose of this research is to know the extent of science process skill level, attitude toward science, and academic achievement of students in coastal area. There were 114 students of the 8th grade of four lower secondary schools in Merbau Island participated as respondents in this study. Instruments used in data collection are science process skills tests and attitude toward science questionnaires for lower secondary school students. The results showed that 8th grade lower secondary school students in Merbau Island had high attitude toward science. On the contrary, the science process skills and academic achievement of their science are relatively low.

Abstract

Penggunaan media pembelajaran, penanaman konsep, prinsip, dan hukum IPA akan menghasilkan pembelajaran yang lebih efektif. Pembelajaran yang melibatkan peran aktif peserta didik adalah model pembelajaran conceptual understanding procedures (CUPs). Media pembelajaran menggunakan mind mapping pada kedua kelas sebagai media mencatat pemahaman siswa. Jenis penelitian yang digunakan adalah Quasi Experimen dengan rancangan penelitian Posttest Only Control Group Design yaitu menggunakan satu kelas eksperimen dan satu kelas kontrol. Teknik pengambilan sampel yang digunakan peneliti adalah simple random sampling. Sampel yang digunakan kelas VII 2 dengan jumlah 28 siswa sebagai kelas eksperimen dan kelas VII 3 dengan jumlah 27 siswa sebagai kelas kontrol. Hasil penelitian dari analisis deskriptif dan inferensial menunjukkan bahwa pemahaman konsep siswa kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol terdapat perbedaan, dari skor rata-rata kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi daripada kelas kontrol. Keadaan pemahaman konsep IPA pada topik klasifikasi materi dan perubahannya yang menggunakan model pembelajaran conceptual understanding procedures pada kelas eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan kelas kontrol yang menerapkan pembelajaran konvensional. Pemahaman konsep siswa melalui pembelajaran conceptual understanding procedures pada kelas eksperimen lebih baik daripada kelas kontrol, sehingga pembelajaran conceptual understanding procedures lebih efektif dalam meningkatkan pemahaman konsep.

Abstract

Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mendeskrisikan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa SMA dan mengetahui perbedaan keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa antara kelas yang menerapkan model learning cycle 5E berbantukan media mobile learning dengan kelas yang menerapkan pembelajaran konvensional pada siswa kelas X SMA materi momentum dan impuls. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di SMAN 1 Tapung Hulu. Jenis penelitian ini adalah quasi experiment (eksperimen semu). Desain penelitian ini yaitu posttest only control group design. Sampel diambil secara acak dari populasi yang berjumlah 4 kelas IPA. Hasil penelitian diperoleh bahwa skor rata-rata keterampilan berpikir kritis siswa kelompok eksperimen tergolong tinggi sedangkan kelompok kontrol tergolong rendah. Setelah diberikan tes keterampilan berpikir kritis berupa posttest kelompok eksperimen mencapai skor rata-rata 75,40 dengan standar deviasi 16,59 sedangkan kelompok kontrol mencapai skor rata-rata 64,42 dengan standar devisi 15,41. Hasil hipotesis menggunakan independent samples t-test diperoleh dengan signifikan 0,005 yang artinya lebih kecil dari 0.05, artinya terdapat perbedaan yang signifikan skor rata-rata keterampilan berpikir kritis antara kelompok eksperimen dan kelompok kontrol.

Abstract

Studi ini tujuannya guna 1) mencari tahu kesulitan yang siswa alami pada kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa pada materi IPA Fisika 2) mengidentifikasi bahan ajar yang dipakai guru dan metode pembelajaran yang dipakai pada kegiatan proses pembelajaran di kelas; 3) analisis bahan ajar dan metode pembelajaran yang diperlukan oleh siswa pasa kegiatan pembelajaran IPA fisika; 4) mendeskripsikan analisis kebutuhan pengembangan bahan ajar berbasis PjBL untuk melatihkan kemampuan berfikir materi kemagnetan di SMP. Metode pengumpulan data yang dipakai ialah memberikan respon angket online berupa google form kepada siswa kelas IX sebesar 99 responden di SMPN 8 Pekanbaru yang disebarkan melalui media sosisal whatsaap. Teknik analisis yang dipakai ialah deskriptif kuantitatif. Hasil studi memperlihatkan 1) siswa mengalami kesulitan dalam kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa pada materi IPA Fisika 2) bahan ajar yang dipakai guru adalah buku cetak dan metode pembelajaran yang banyak dipakai ialah metode ceramah; 3) bahan ajar yang diperlukan siswa yaitu e-modul dan metode pembelajaran yang perlu dalam proses pembelajaran IPA fisika adalah metode proyek; 4) Sebanyak 73,7% siswa tertarik untuk menggunakan bahan ajar e-modul sebagai penunjang bahan ajar dalam proses pembelajaran dan siswa menyatakan membutuhkan metode pembelajaran yang lain selain seperti biasa digunakan gurumu untuk melatih kemampuan berpikir kreatif siswa.

Abstract

This study analyzes students initial perceptions of their collaboration and scientific communication skills. This method of research was descriptive research with a qualitative and quantitative approach. The subjects of this study were students of class XI MIPA.1 MAN 1 Siak in the 2022/2023 academic year. The data collection technique used in this study was a questionnaire via Google Forms. Data on students collaboration and scientific communication skills perceptions were analyzed using descriptive statistics. The results of data analysis for indicators of collaboration skills are 2.13 in the low category, and scientific communication skills indicators were 1.92 in the low category. From the results of the data analysis, it can be concluded that students initial perceptions of their collaboration and scientific communication skills are in a low category. It is because of students not being used to learning in groups in class due to the online learning process for approximately two years in a row. The lack of training in student collaboration skills results in low scientific communication skills. That is because the essential subjects taught in the emergency curriculum during the pandemic barely touched the real of scientific communication skills.

Abstract

This research was conducted with the aim of knowing the feasibility of developing science e-modules based on a scientific approach using a combination of the Canva Application and Flip PDF Professional. The research method used is using the ADDIE model research and development (Research & Development/R&D) design and approach. The research instrument used was an e-module validation questionnaire by material experts, media and science learning experts as well as teacher and student practicality questionnaires. The IPA e-module using a combination of Canva and Flip PDF Professional has been successfully developed by integrating aspects of the scientific approach in the e-module learning flow. The expert validation results obtained an average score of 3.57 with a very valid category. The results of the practicality test for teachers and students obtained an average score of 3.75 and 3.89 respectively, so that the e-module practicality category is in the very practical category. Based on the results of the validation and practicality tests, it can be stated that the e-module is feasible and easy to use for science learning purposes for grade VIII students of SMP/MTs.
