Abstract

Everyone is taught to live independently, independence is a pattern of life that is formed from the habits of various human habits. Habit of thinking is one of the causes. The habits of intelligent thinking of each individual are called habits of mind. Independence and habits of mind are the factors needed in the series of learning processes so that the problems faced by students are able to be resolved properly, becoming a problem in schools that students' learning independence is less honed because of the dominance of teachers in teaching. The purpose of this study was to determine the profile of students' learning independence and habits of mind. Conducted in 2020 in class X MIA SMAN 7 Pekanbaru. This research is a descriptive research type with a survey method. The instruments used were in the form of a questionnaire of learning independence and habits of mind with 30 items of positive and negative statements that have been validated on a 5-Likert scale ranging from strongly disagree (SD) to strongly agree (SA) With three questionnaire categories, there are 3, namely high (mean 4.41-5.00), moderate (mean 3.39-4.40), low (mean 1.00-3.38). The research data were processed by using descriptive percentages. The results showed that the independent learning in portfolio assessment learning was 3.60 in the medium category. Abstract

A number of activities occur around the Cikijing River in Rancaekek area, West Java, such as industrial and domestic activities. The various activities could decrease the quality of the river and surrounding environment due to anthropogenic pollutants that might be produced. Since the Cikijing River is also used as the source of irrigation, paddy fields around the river could be also be affected. The presence of pollutants in river sediments and agricultural soils over a long period could change their magnetic properties. Magnetic susceptibility of Cikijing River sediments and soils of the paddy fields in the surrounding have been examined considering that magnetic properties could represent environmental conditions. The results show that river sediments have magnetic susceptibility (cLF) in range of 356.2-456.3 (×10-8) m3kg-1, whereas soils samples have cLF varying from 94.1 to 347.1 (×10-8) m3kg-1, suggesting domination of ferrimagnetic minerals. The cFD (%) is <4% indicating the anthropogenic origin of magnetic minerals.  Electron microscopy images show the imperfect octahedral and spherules shapes of magnetic grains that supports magnetic susceptibility analysis about the source of magnetic minerals. Elemental composition analysis reveals Fe and O’s content as main elements, including minor elements of Ca, Mg, Al. Si, Ti and Cr

Abstract

This study aims to characterize phosphate buffer and urease enzymes through the absorbance spectrum of UV-Vis and FTIR using tungsten as the indicator electrode. The method used in this research is the biosensor potentiometric method carried out in the Laboratory of the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences, State University of Medan and the Beacukai Belawan Medan laboratory. The absorbance characterization of electrolyte solutions in various compositions using UV-Vis showed that phosphate buffer solution 0.001 M pH 7.5+KCl 0.001 M + urea 0.001 M+3 drops urease enzyme had the highest absorbance compared to electrolyte solutions with phosphate buffer and urea content. Likewise, the FTIR results showed the same thing where phosphate buffer solution was 0.001 M pH 7.5 + KCl 0.001 M + urea 0.001 M + 3 drops urease enzyme had the highest% T (transmission) pattern of phosphate buffer solution and urea. The urease enzyme in this study functions as a catalyst. Based on UV-Vis and FTIR characterization, it was concluded that the phosphate buffer solution of 0.001 M pH 7.5+KCl 0.001 M + urea 0.001 M + 3 drops of urease enzyme was the best.

Abstract

The use of natural asphalt is an alternative to meet the high demand for oil asphalt. Asbuton is natural asphalt from Buton Island, Indonesia. However, the use of Asbuton is not as easy as oil asphalt because the asphalt it contains is hard. The asphalt-concrete mixture must go through a rejuvenation process for several days before being compacted. This study aims to determine the performance of asphalt-concrete mixture using Asbuton if it is compacted immediately after mixing, without giving time for the rejuvenation process. Compaction is done when the mixture is hot and after the mixture is cold. Compaction of the asphalt-concrete mixture in hot temperature (150ºC), based on mechanical characteristics (stability, flow, and Marshall Quotient), has better performance than that compacted in cold temperature (30ºC). However, compaction in both hot and cold temperatures, based on their volumetric characteristics, does not meet the requirements for use as road pavements. The performance of the asphalt mixture can be improved by giving time in the process of softening the asphalt content in Asbuton

Abstract

The utilization of online media such as learning videos, e-books, e-libraries, and virtual laboratories as a source of independent learning by learners is still very low, as a result of which teachers are still the main source of learning. This shows the low independence of learning learners, even though independence is one-factor affecting learning achievement. The correct learning methods can increase the independence of learning learners, one of which is by applying flipped classrooms. This research aims to find out the effect of the application of flipped classrooms on learning independence and cognitive achievement of learners in thermochemical materials as well as the correlation of learning independence with the achievement of cognitive abilities of learners. This study is an experimental study with the design of two groups at random. The measuring instrument used is a matter of postest and learning independence questionnaire. The research data were analyzed using the SPSS for Windows program. The results found that learning independence and better achievement of cognitive abilities were shown in the group that applied the class upside down. There was a significant positive relationship between the achievement of cognitive ability and the independence of learning in both groups, both in classes that applied classes in reverse and in classes that did not apply inverse classes.
