Abstract

Abstract

Road damage is caused by several factors, namely: unstable subgrade, climate, poor drainage system, materials, and work processes that do not meet the requirements. Besides that, vehicle traffic loads have a greater effect. Normal traffic load can maintain life as design. Problems arise when many vehicles pass with loads that exceed the required load limit. This will reduce the service life. Therefore, strict supervision of the maximum load at the weighbridge requires special attention. Especially if the road is an arterial road that is dominated by freight vehicles. The effect of decreasing pavement service life due to overloading can be done by comparing the service life with normal load and overload. The research was conducted on a national road section, namely Jalan Raya Ahmad Yani, located in Narmada, West Lombok Regency. The analysis was carried out on secondary data, namely the number of vehicles entering the weighbridge and daily traffic on average in 2018 and 2019. The results of the analysis are the number of equivalent axle loads and the Vehicle Damage Factor (VDF) on each type of vehicle with normal loads or more using the Bina Marga Method. Furthermore, the design life reduction analysis is carried out based on the cumulative results of Equivalent Standard Axle Load (ESAL) under normal load and overload conditions. The results of the analysis show that the equivalent value or VDF of normal load vehicles is 385120.1870 and VDF overload is 643207.3800 so that the percentage increase in VDF value is 67.01% and there is a decrease in age of 3.1 years, with the planned age of 10 years.

Abstract

Karakteristik volumetrik yang dicari: Voids in the Mixtures (VIM), porositas dan permeabilitas.

Abstract

Asbuton is the natural asphalt of Buton Island, Southeast Sulawesi. Asbuton has substantial reserves with deposits estimated at between 150 to 300 million tons. Asphalt mixture using Asbuton can be done with a cold mix. This mixture requires a rejuvenating agent that serves to soften and rejuvenate the asphalt properties contained in Asbuton. The rejuvenation process that is less than optimal results in the low quality of the asphalt mixture. Therefore, it is necessary to conduct a study to improve the performance of cold mixtures using Asbuton. In this study, super bond additives were used. This study aims to determine the extent to which the performance of asphalt-concrete mixtures using Asbuton with the addition of super bond additives in the rejuvenating agent is increased. The addition of additives was varied with levels of 0.0%, 0.2%, 0.3%, and 0.4%, so that the impact could be known. The best asphalt concrete mix characteristics were obtained at the addition of 0.4% additives. Where, for volumetric characteristics the values obtained are: Void in the Mix (VIM) 5.08%, Void in Mineral Aggregate (VMA) 19.6% and Void Filled with Bitumen (VFB) 74.0%. While the mechanical characteristics are: Stability 609 kg, Flow 2.7 mm and Marshall Quotient 223 kg/mm. Only the Marshall Quotient value does not meet the minimum requirements, because it is < 250 kg/mm.

Abstract

The performance of road pavement is strongly determined by material used in asphalt mixture. However, it is occasionally found that asphalt used in hot mix asphalt did not fulfill softening point requirement. On the other hand, the amounts of waste styrofoam and PVC are tend to increase and need a large space for its handling. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the quality of asphalt by using waste styrofoam and PVC. This article aims to review the performance of asphalt concrete using waste styrofoam and PVC as asphalt modifier based on the value of its penetration index. Styrofoam modified asphat was made by mixing asphalt penetration grade 60/70 with 0%, 2%, 4% and 6% waste styrofoam, meanwhile the percentages of waste PVC as asphalt modifier were 1%, 2%, 3% and 4%, respectively. The properties analyzed are Marshall stabiliy, flow, Marshall Quotient, Marshall immersion and retained strength index. From the analysis, it can be concluded that the use of waste styrofoam and PVC increase modified asphalt penetration index, and its penetration index significantly affect the properties of asphalt concrete
