Abstract

The research computed the energy levels and radial wave functions of the Hydrogen Atom. The method used for computation was FEM (finite element method). Using the variational method approach, FEM was applied to the action integral of Schrödinger equation. This lead to the eigenvalue equation in the form of global matrix equation. The results of computation were depended on boundary of the action integral of Schrödinger equation and number of elements. For boundary 0 - 100a0 and 100 elements, they were the realistic and best choice of computation to the closed analytic results. The computation of first five energy levels resulted E1 = -0.99917211 R∞, E2 = -0.24984445 R∞, E3 = -0.11105532 R∞, E4 = -0.06247405 R∞ and E5 = -0.03998598 R∞ where 1 R∞ = 13.6 eV. They had relative error under 0.1% to the analytic results.

Abstract

The Smith normal form and left good matrix have been known in matrix theorem. Any matrix over the principal ideal ring has a Smith normal form. The Smith normal form of a matrix has many applications on various fields such as a solution of Diophantin linear equation and differential equation system. Furthermore, a matrix A with entries in a commutative ring R with unity is left good if for every vector x, the ideal áxAñ is the same as the ideal áAñ. This paper discusses the relation between the Smith normal form and left good matrix. The relation is as the following: matrix A with entries in principal ideal ring of size m by n, with m < n, has Smith normal form [Im, O] if only if A is a left good matrix.

Abstract

In regression analysis we make several assumptions about the error term. The following assumptions are often made: 1) the error terms are random variables with mean 0; 2) nonautocorrelation; 3) homoscedasticity, and 4) normality. The assumption of identically and independently distributed (iid) observations that underlies regression procedures is called into question when analyzing complex survey data. Particularly the existence of clusters in two stage samples usually exhibit positive intracluster correlation. If we use Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) procedures to make inferences in regression analysis for two stage cluster samples, we will be faced with a problem. This study aims to know the effect of two stage least squares on the F-Statistic. In general, although OLS procedures are unbiased but not fully efficient for estimation of the regression coefficients. Variance of the OLS estimators for the regression coefficients can be larger than the usual OLS variance expression would indicate. Failure to consider this possibility leads to underestimation of variances, with consequences for confidence intervals and the F-Statistic. The effect of intracluster correlation on the F-Statistic is the distortion of its distribution. The F-Statistic will not follow the Central F distribution anymore. Consequently, the hypothesis testing procedure is invalid.

Abstract

The aim of this study was to identify population growth during 1960-2002, and also its projection until 2050. The study also analyzed its impact and look for alternative policies in overcoming the problem to fulfill food security. The model used in the study was dynamic system approach which analyzes previous events to predict the upcoming condition. The study result indicated that the population increased rapidly, and was predicted would continue growing fast. Population growth and food requirement per capita determined the level of requirement of total food. To reach food security, the requirement would be better fulfilling by domestic production and did not depend on import. The policy alternative, which consisted of farm harvest enlargement and technological adoptions, were proposed to meet domestic production exceeding the requirement.

Abstract

The aim of the research was to determine the effect of sugar content, time length of fermentations and their interaction on the qualities of the Nata de Soya. The design of the experiment was factorial 3x2 and arranged by the Randomized Complete Design (RCD), with three replications. The first factor was sugar content. G1= 100 g sucrose/l waste of soya, G2= 150 g/l and G3= 200 g/l. The second factor was days of the fermentation F1= 7 days, F2= 14 days. The result showed that (i) the adding of sugar content was not affected the weight, temperature, acidity, moisture content, fiber content and protein content of the Nata de Soya. (ii) The days of fermentation were significant in affecting the weight of the Nata de Soya, but not significant for other parameters. The maximum weight (418,411g) was reached at 7 days of the fermentations. (iii) The interaction between sugar content and time length of fermentations influenced acidity.

Abstract

Food resistance will be strengthened with diversity of food products. In order to augment raw materials for soun, a variety of white starch noodle, a research was conducted using starch of ganyong (Canna edulis). The purpose of the research was to survey the nutrient content and consumer acceptance of soun ganyong. Nutrient content was analyzed by proximate method and consumer acceptance was analyzed by organoleptic test. The result showed that carbohydrate content was 83.86% to 85.12% higher than the carbohydrate of white rice, main food supply of the population. Therefore, it can be suggested that soun ganyong be used as supplement for the carbohydrate food supply. The organoleptic test showed that consumers prefer (acceptability) the color, taste, and aroma of the white variety than the blue one, while the texture for both varieties was generally accepted.

Abstract

The study was conducted to explore the relationship between anthropometric measurement, i.e. skinfold thickness and cholesterol consentration in adult male and female blood. Other variables assumed as confounders including respondent characters namely: age, sex, ethnic, smoking habit, and activity. Analysis was done to a data from Health and Nutrition Survey on Adult on six cities in Indonesia. Prediction model of serum cholesterol with nutritional status assessment was developed by multiple regression analysis. Backward elimination procedure was used for model processing. The study result indicated that there was positive correlation between cholesterol and skinfold, age, and ethnic. Prediction model of serum cholesterol can be showed: Serum Cholesterol = 153,58 + 0,36 Skinfold + 0,34 age – 1,46 Sex – 48,71 Activity + 27,84 Ethnic

Abstract

K-mean method is a clustering method in which grouping techniques are based only on distance measure among observed objects, without considering statistical aspects. Model-based clustering is a method that use statistical aspects, as its theoretical basis i.e. probability maximum criterion. This model has several variations with a variety of geometrical characteristics obtained by mean Gauss component. Data partition is conducted by utilizing EM (expectation-maximization) algorithm. Then by using Bayesian Information Criterion (BIC) the best model is obtained. This research aimed to comparing result of grouping methods between model-based clustering and K-mean clustering. The results showed that model-based clustering was more effective in separating overlap groups than K-mean.

Abstract

The aim of this research is to estimate the value of health degradation caused by nitrogen oxide (NOx) gas as one of the air pollutions in Jakarta Province. The economic growth in urban area may affect lifestyle which will increase the energy demand. Fossil fuel as the main energy emitting some gases to the ambient, one of them is NOx gas. In this research analysis of factors that influenced NOx ambient concentration is based on the socials, economics, and meteorological data from Indonesia Statistics Center (BPS) and Bureau of Meteorology and Geophysics (BMG). The prediction of the cost that has to be paid by the persons who are exposured by NOx gas and will get respiratory symptomps is done by developing the dynamic simulation model. The result of this research is by 2025 the Jakarta residences that will have respiratory symptomps caused by the NOx air pollution should pay about 1 trillion (1012) rupiahs. To reduce this pollutant it is recommended to develop public policies based on the economic and environmental concern.
