Abstract

I-Spring program is a computer application used to create instructional multimedia. This study aims to find out the design of I-Spring technology learning media on cultural arts subjects and its influence on students cognitive development on two-dimensional art material. Research methodology used is research and development (R & D) with research subjects of grade X Batik 2 Surakarta Senior High School. The development of I-Spring technology learning media includes four main stages namely; (1) preliminary research, (2) development design, (3) production, (4) product validation. The result of the research shows that I-Spring teaching media can improve students' cognitive ability in two dimensional art material.

Abstract

This article address the issue of verbal violence articulated by Facebook users using predicational strategies as proposed by Wodak when commenting news update posted on Indonesian news portal fans pages under the topic of Paris tragedy. As the realisation of predicational strategy, this article explores the form and the meaning of verbal violence linguistically articulated by the users. The data of verbal violence are taken from user comments in four different news fans pages, namely Detik.com, Kompas.com, Liputan6.com, and Tribunnews.com. Employing predicational strategies, there are several linguistic realisations of verbal violence, such as attributes, redicative verb, object or complement of predicate, predicative noun, and predicative adjective. These also reveal several meaning, such as violent action, violent trait, bad habit, mental deficiency, bad condition, exclusion from a social identity, and inclusion to a social identity.

Abstract

One center of Paradila woven fabric industry that produces woven sarong and band cloth with various motifs, there is geometric motif, mountains motif, flora and fauna motif. The woven fabric band songket and woven band songket batik is the latest product. This research aim to find out the motifs that exist in this woven fabric and the creation process. This research used the method of observation, interview and documentation. This method used to find out the development of geometric motif that have been created comprise line, dot, triangle, square, rectangle, rhomb and circle.  The target of this research is to contribute and inspire and important innovation for the effort to build creative thinking and critical thinking, especially related to the development of geometric motifs based on the type of motif, arrangement of motif and the process of creation in woven this woven fabric so that the woven fabric become more interesting.

Abstract

Batik is a classic art work that is owned by the Indonesian. As a work containing the noble values of the nation, batik was created from the crystallization of the visualized culture and in the knowledge of batik both in ideas, behavior and form. The purpose of this study is to describe the existence of batik as a work of art of the nation in terms of elements of cultural elements formed from the batik .. This research uses descriptive qualitative methods, with literature review and interview informants. Based on the study and analysis of the literature and field data, it was concluded that in culture all elements of a culture full of values have a role in the ideology, behavior and form/artefact of batik itself then batik is a work that becomes a crystallization of how reality in the culture of the owner which is very sublime. So batik is an art filled with cultural values, works that have meaningful symbols and art that reflect the identity of his nationality. So it can be concluded that batik as a result of Indonesian culture is a high quality work and transformed into a commodity identity of the nation.

Abstract

Serat Saptastha  is one of the ancient manuscripts stored in the library at Sonobudoyo Museum Yogyakarta. Serat Saptastha tells about the events of the lengser keprabon experienced by Hamengku Buwana VII and the transition of power from Hamengku Buwana VII to Hamengku Buwana VIII. The event of lengser keprabon and the power transfer which is considered quite short of its preparation becomes its own history for Kasultanan Yogyakarta. This study explores about how the image of Hamengku Buwana VII as Java’s leader depicted on the content of the manuscript Saptastha. This research uses qualitative methods and data collection techniques using literature study. The image of Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwana VII becomes exemplary as a leader who is respected and coveted by the people.

Abstract

Teaching speaking brings a different challenge for teachers who teach English as a foreign language. Most English Foreign Language students are reluctant to speak.  When the students speak, they focus more on grammar, not on meaning. To cope with this problem, English teachers can implement Task-Based Language Teaching (TBLT). TBLT is an approach which is based on the assumption that accuracy is acquired after fluency or after successful communication. This approach provides an environment which best promotes the natural language learning. Throughout this article, I would like to describe how TBLT work in each stage of teaching speaking as a foreign language.

Abstract

This research was aimed to prove that the application of contextual teaching and learning method can be used in teaching English especially to increase vocabulary mastery of the students in junior high school. This research applied true experimental research design involving two groups; experimental and control group. The researcher used random sampling technique to determine the sample of the research. The seventh year students at SMP Negeri 19 Palu were selected as the sample of the research. The instruments of the data collection were tests given to the research sample consisting of pre-test and post-test. The data gathered were analyzed statistically. The result of the research showed that the t- counted (9.091) was greater than the t- table (1.999) by applying 0.05 level of significance and the degree of freedom (df) was 62. It meant that the application of contextual teaching and learning method can significantly increase the vocabulary mastery of the seventh year students at SMP Negeri 19 Palu. In conclusion, contextual teaching and learning method can be used to teach English especially to increase the students’ vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

There are lots of studies about vocabulary learning strategies used by EFL learners. In this recent study focuses on the effect of vocabulary learning strategies (VLSs) on learners’ vocabulary mastery. Nevertheless, in this study the subject were categorized based on gender (male and female). This study aims to identify the effect of vocabulary learning strategies employed by female and male learner at LBPP LIA Solo in learning new vocabularies on their vocabulary mastery. This qualitative study was a qualitative study proposed by Pawlak (2008). The participants of this research involved 10 male learners and 10 female learners of higher intermediate level at LBPP LIA Solo. The data were collected via vocabulary learning strategy questionnaaires (VLSQs), interview and test. The data collected were analyzed qualitatively. The research finding showed that female learner tend to use more vocabulary learning strategies than male did. In addition, the the more vocabulary learning strategies applied, the better effect they got in vocabulary mastery.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan meningkatkan prestasi belajar siswa pada pelajaran pembuatan produk kriya kayu dengan teknik bubut dengan menerapkan metode pembelajaran demonstrasi dan eksperimen berbasis multimedia kits. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI Kayu SMK Negeri 9 Surakarta tahun pelajaran 2015/2016. Sumber data didapat dari guru dan siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data dengan observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan tes. Uji validitas data dengan triangulasi data dan review key informan. Analisis data dengan menggunakan teknik analisis secara kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil Penelitian ini dengan menerapkan metode demonstrasi dan eksperimen berbasis multimedia kits dapat meningkatkan prestasi belajar siswa pada mata pelajaran pembuatan produk kriya kayu dengan teknik bubut, hasil belajar siswa yang dimaksud meliputi hasil belajar afektif, kognitif dan psikomotor. Berdasarkan data yang diperoleh nilai aspek psikomotor rata-rata kelas hasil belajar siswa pada pratindakan adalah 78,14 pada aspek kognitif dan 78 pada aspek psikomotor, pada siklus I meningkat menjadi 81,43 aspek kognitif dan 79,12 di aspek psikomotor, meningkat lagi menjadi 85,79 aspek kognitif dan 82,13 aspek psikomotor. Sehingga dengan menerapkan metode demonstrasi dan eksperimen berbasis multimedia kits terbukti dapat meningkatkan prestasi belajar pelajaran pembuatan produk kriya kayu dengan teknik bubut siswa kelas XI Kayu SMK Negeri 9 Surakarta tahun pelajaran 2015/2016.
