Abstract

Indonesia has various ethnic  rich in tradition, and rich in art. Every culture has its own folklore. In the era of rapidly growing digital information, children and parents are no longer familiar with folklore. This design was created to provide one solution to introduce Indonesian folklore to children and parents. Media delivery of folklore through children's clothing with print techniques. This design in addition to the aim of attracting children to know the folklore is also expected to be a means of education to parents of millennial generation. The results of this study are expected to be useful for the creative industries. The method used in qualitative description research.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the uniqueness and uniqueness of the use of language style (sounds of language, morphology aspect, diction, and imaging) in pambiwara panggih temanten style Surakarta. In this research, the researcher uses descriptive qualitative by using stylistic approach. Sources of data in this study is a source of written data in the form of a text pambiwara Surakarta.  The data source is in the form of oral data source delivered by pambiwara from informants. The data in this research is orthographic transcription of pambiwara panggih temanten in Javanese Surakarta. The basic technique used by using the listening technique, it is obtained data by listening the use of language. In this research, the researcheruses stylistic analysis of sentences in the Javanes language, and also using listening techniques and record techniques. The results of this study shows that the temanten style Surakarta style has the beauty of the language text: (1) Sound beauty aspect (asonansi (purwakanthiswara), alliteration (purwakanthi sastra), repetition (purwakanthilumaksita), (2) Diction beauty aspect (usage of various tembung kawi, dasanama), (3) morphological beauty aspect (prefix, suffix, confix, dwipurwa / iteration), and (4) imagery to describe the bride.

Abstract

This article is the result of community service program to develop micro business of leather calligraphy crafts in Sonorejo Village Sukoharjo District. So far the product of leather calligraphy, made using a single color screen printing technique with a monotonous visual form without variations of decoration. In general, craftsmen tend to be passive in developing new designs because they feel enough to produce calligraphy from the order designs carried by middlemen. Dependence on the middleman, causing the weak bargaining position of craftsmen in determining the price of the product. Meanwhile, craftsmen have production experience as a basis to develop their creativity in creating design innovations that are likely to expand the marketing area. In view of these conditions, the program is implemented to develop creativity and craftsman skills in: 1) create more varied designs of calligraphy, 2) create decorative patterns, 3) apply techniques of color screen printing on leather calligraphy crafts products. This community service program uses a participatory approach with a buttom up method; where the participation of craftsmen during the activity is expected to be able to answer their needs in a participative manner. Its activities are focused on training on the development of shape design, decorative pattern, and application of color screen printing technique. Through this program, there has been an increase in the ability of craftsmen in terms of: 1) creating new and more varied calligraphic designs using coreldraw software. 2) composing calligraphy style, decorative pattern, and background in harmony and artistic, 3) creating product according to design by applying color screen printing technique.

Abstract

Learning is an attempt of helping teaching-learning process to achieve the objective of improving high-quality and professional learning in long term. Makeup and fashion are courses intended to Javanese language students in Veteran Bangun Nusantara University aiming to introduce Javanese culture and its application to daily life within family, society and education realm. Not only Javanese cultural preservation can be done through dance, gamelan, gendhing, and Javanese song (tembang Jawa), but also learning through makeup and fashion is very important as the attempt of introducing the students to fashion and makeup in Javanese custom, including wiru (wiron) for male and female, eyebrow shape, shading, paes shape, and kebaya, kuthu baru, stagen, selop, gelung, sunggar and etc in Javanese fashion. Preservation is very desirable to the existence of culture for the next generation, moreover Javanese Language students as the prospect teachers of language and culture that will interact directly with the students. Thus they should have a good understanding on Javanese culture in order to teach it correctly to the students.

Abstract

The presence of media in the midst of human life certainly had an impact on our behavior patterns, either in the form of understanding, mental attitudes, as well as concrete actions. In every use of the media must be contained messages or accompanying information and consciously accepted by its users, which in turn will affect their behavior. This study aims to identify and obtain an overview about media literacy study conducted in the Junior High School. The method used in this research is qualitative method with case study approach. While the theory used in this research is the theory of the Media Literacy by Potter. The results of this study found that basically media literacy is an alternative that aims to empower the public in the middle of the media siege. This concept has the aim to educate the public to be able to interact and use the media intelligently and critically, so that the public does not easily "fooled" and exploited by the media's interests are not aligned on the needs of the public. Meanwhile, the teenager mentally junior high school students are very vulnerable public to easily affected by media content, while seen from the number of media they use the most widely used.

Abstract

Character-based education needs to be developed in the world of education in Indonesia as an effort to achieve the goal of national education and building citizens who have competence not only in cognitive areaand but also affective and psychomotoric. Senior High School is one of the educational institution that implements the art and culture learningformally as a medium of character development of learners through the learning of dance. The study aimed to describe the implementation of character education in the learning activities of dance art by creating dance creations. The study used a qualitative approach. Sources of data are in the form of informants, documents, places and events. The data collection techniques used are observation, interview, documentation and recording. Data validity techniques usedare triangulation source and triangulationmethod. Technique of data analysis using interactive analysis model by reducing data, data presentation and verification. The result of research shows that dance art learning in implementation to form character with dance work process they are knowledge and skill. 1) Knowledge is shown through function, technique, form, type and aesthetic value according to accompaniment form religious values 2) Skill is shown through dance movement creations according to accompaniment presented in groups that can form the value of cooperation.

Abstract

The goal of this research are (1) to describe affixed reduplication forming deverbal noun, and (2) to describe the meaning of affixed reduplication forming deverbal noun. This research uses theory about (1) morphology, (2) affixed reduplication, (3) derivation, (4) words, (5) nouns, and (6) verbs. Methodology used in this reseach is stuctural description. Research data are affixed reduplication words forming deverbal noun in Javanese language. Data collecting is done by observation, interview, and documen analysis. Data collecting method are scrutinicing and interviewing method. The result of this study is affixed reduplication {-an} forming deverbal noun. (reduplication -an {-R -an}). The meaning of this reduplication is ‘producing something like the basic form of the word.

Abstract

The Indonesian nation has a variety of arts and culture’s that flourishes in the community. High variety of art and culture’s that developed in the community describes the richness of art and culture in Indonesia. The variety of cultural arts include indigenous Indonesian culture scattered in areas throughout Indonesia, such as shadow puppet culture.Shadow puppet is a show organized by Javanese community and had been going on for hundreds of years, therefore it was already a Javanese tradition or culture. Shadow puppet for Javanese society is a cultural heritage that has its own characteristics and enormous charm.Shadow puppet is fully of noble values contained in it, which can be a life guidance for Javanese society. Shadow puppet is an adipeni and adiluhung art, it means that shadow puppet is not only a beautiful or aesthetic spectacle, but also as a guidance which it is contained ethics or moral virtue of life. The shadow puppet artists must have an idea to give and pass on the science of shadow puppet art to anybody so that the science of shadow puppet art is not faded and dim by the development of this modern age. From the literature results, we can indicate that by studying the shadow puppet from the character's point of view, it will cultivate good qualities for the younger generation.

Abstract

The purpose of this research were to describe: (1) The learning process of “mural motive batik” to the students of class XI MIPA 5 in SMA Negeri 1 Jatisrono, observed by the learning component. (2) The result of the students’ work in the learning of “mural motive batik” was observed by based on the design principle and the elements of art.The design of this research was qualitative descriptive by using case study strategy. The source of the data which is used: informant, place and event, document and archive.The technique of sampling which is used was by purposive sampling. The technique of collecting data which is used: interview, observation, and documentation. The data validity which is used was by the triangulation of source and review of informant. The data analysis which is used was by flow-model analysis.The result of this research showed that: (1) The learning process of “mural motive batik” included seven components, the purpose of study has completed the three aspects of developing of the students’ ability, scientific approach strategy. The lesson was batik and the application of batik in the some media. The methods which are used were by talk method, demonstration method, question and answer method, recitation method, drill method, and discussion method. The media which are used were by LCD, power point, whiteboard, marker, and the examples of work. The evaluation of this research were written test, practice test, and piece of attitude. Teacher was as facilitator and evaluator in the learning process. (2)The work of students in the practice of mural motive batik viewed from the elements and the design principles as a whole is good. The elements are: a) Line,b) Field, c) Color, d) Texture, e) Space and volume. The design principles include: a) Unity, b) Balance, d. Rhythm, d) Proportion, e) Domination, f) Variation.
