Abstract

Education is a critical need for each country, the government in general and schools in particular. Religious education is more important whereas the role of parents of children is essential during the children’s early education. Thus the first form of education present in family life. Education is nothing but emphasized the concept of Islamic education which makes the problem of servitude to God and obedience to Him become the axis of all life. It should be noted also that the child's physical education is included in the integral part and the education of the soul, mental, and personality. Duties of parents in educating children from childhood is going to introduce children the Lord that create and administer the universe, understand who is the prophet, and understand what is their religion, so that children understood the responsibility living in this world, which is to worship Allah alone by following the sunnah of His Messenger. It is obvious, that Islam tells them to carry out the education of their children, based on the view that children as beings who are growing and developing in the direction of maturity, have the basic skills which are dynamic and responsive to external influences and himself.

Abstract

This study aimed to improve final year students of SMP Negeri 1 and SMP Negeri 3 Wates’ interpersonal communication skills through group discussion techniques. Classroom action research was conducted by using Kemmis and Taggart model.. The instrument of data collection used was observation guidelines and interpersonal communication skills’ scale. The results showed that the improvement of interpersonal communication skill of class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Wates and SMP Negeri 3 Wates could be done by using group discussion technique. This is evidenced by the increase in the average value of interpersonal communication skills. In the first cycle, the class VIII students of SMP Negeri 1 Wates increased by 43.8 points, while in the second cycle improved up to 74.7 points. For the class VIII students of SMP Negeri 3 Wates, the increase in first cycle was 26.5 points, while in the second cycle it was 75.7 points.

Abstract

Learning the speaking skills in the girls' dormitory of Aceh Alfityan foundation emphasizes on memorizing a lot of vocabularies and practicing of Arabic conversation. After conducting pre observation, the researcher found that the second grade of junior high school faced a number of problems in practicing the Arabic conversation such as the difficulty in arranging the Arabic sentences in accordance with the rules. The results of this classroom action research indicated that the application of mind mapping and photographic models were effective and could help the students to improve and smarten their speaking skills. As the researcher note in their daily conversations, the students’ ability in Arabic speaking skill was better than before. The students’ response toward the learning speaking skills using mind mapping and photography models was very effective. It was based on the observation in the teaching and learning process in the classroom. The students were very delighted while learning activity and at the same time they could also improve their understanding toward the learning materials. In addition, they were be able to practice Arabic conversation skills fluently during their daily life. Moreover, the application of mind mapping and photographic models took the important role in enhancing the ability of students’ Arabic speaking skills. It was supported by the results analysis of each student’s answer in each phase. The researchers found an average increase in the students’ learning evaluation test in each phase.

Abstract

Instructional leadership is a concept in which a principal’s management emphases on academic or instructional improvement. It is the principal leadership siding with academic affairs. Conventionally, school principals play the role as managers or administrators. Whereas the role of instructional leadership is delegated to other parties such as vice principal for curriculum affairs. Most educators and scholars agree that instructional leadership needs to be practiced if effective schools are to be realized. To be an instructional leader, it is necessary for a principal to have expertise in curriculum, instruction and assessment. Since most principals lack of skills on instructional leadership practices, instructional leadership training for principals is badly needed.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pedagogical content knowledge alumni Prodi Pendidikan Bahasa Arab di Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Keguruan UIN Ar-Raniry Banda Aceh. Jenis penelitian deskriptif naturalistik dengan pendekatan kualitatif. Data pedagogical content knowledge diperoleh dari alumni melalui wawancara dan observasi. Analisis data dalam penelitian ini dilakukan dengan reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan. Pengecekan keabsahan data dilakukan dengan metode triangulasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kemampuan pedagogical content knowledge alumni Pendidikan Bahasa Arab sudah baik. Dimana dari empat komponen pedagogical content knowledge, tiga diantaranya sudah terpenuhi dengan maksimal dan baik yaitu pengetahuan tentang materi, representatif dan strategi pengajaran, serta tujuan dan konteks pembelajaran. Meskipun alumni masih memiliki kemampuan yang rendah dalam mempersiapkan interaksi dan suasana belajar yang baik bagi siswa. Sementara komponen pengetahuan tentang pemahaman siswa masih rendah. Alumni tidak mengetahui kemampuan awal siswa sebelum memasuki kelas, tidak mengidentifikasi kesulitan belajar siswa sebelum memasuki kelas, tidak menggunakan metode penilaian untuk mengevaluasi pemahaman siswa mengenai pelajaran, serta tes yang diberikan belum membantu siswa menyadari situasi belajarnya. Meskipun demikian alumni telah mengajukan pertanyaan-pertanyaan untuk mengetahui pemahaman siswa tentang topik yang diajarkan selama pembelajaran di kelas, menggunakan pendekatan berbeda dengan diskusi dan tanya jawab untuk mengetahui pemahaman siswa terhadap materi yang diajarkan, dan memfasilitasi siswa memahami materi pelajaran melalui scaffolding walaupun belum maksimal.

Abstract

Iqbal states that Islamic education should cover the human totality. Therefore, Islamic education put stress in a maximum action and creativity for human growth and development physically and mentally. The goal of Islamic education is to train individual to be good so that they can actualize himself to be a creative person with full of faith. To catch the reality is from reflective observation and intuition process or “love” called heart observation. The achievement of this process is callled by Iqbal as metaphysic knowledge.

Abstract

Analysis of test results is one of the materials that must be mastered by students in educational evaluation courses. In this analysis students are also required to be able to make questions well and be able to evaluate them. The purpose of this study is to describe the results of the calculation of the scores that have been obtained from the evaluation data that has been carried out in terms of gender differences. The approach used is quantitative and qualitative approaches. The research subjects were IKIP Budi Utomo Malang students in the 2016 class B even semester 2017/2018. The instrument used in this study is a test question. From the calculation of the data obtained it can be seen that the percentage level of difficulty of male students is 32.84%, while for the calculation of the level of difficulty of female students is 42.95%. The percentage of differentiation for male students is 29.26%, and the percentage of female students is 38%. For the percentage of male students the answer pattern is 39.16%, while the percentage pattern of answers for female students is 51.59%. Based on the data it can be concluded that female students better understand the educational evaluation material which consists of the level of difficulty, the different power of the questions, and the answer pattern of the questions. It is expected that the education evaluation courses between male and female students have a balance in understanding the material and not only being dominated by female students. For further research can be developed how to design learning that is able to accommodate both reasoning and accuracy, so that between male and female students have the same opportunity to understand educational evaluation material.

Abstract

Cooperation of teacher-parents is essential in stimulating the development of children’s abilities, especially the ability to read the Quran. This research focuses on: (1) What are the forms of cooperation of teachers-parents in supporting students’ learning of reading the Quran at the Integrated Islamic Primary School SDIT Nurul Ishlah, Banda Aceh; (2) How is the effectiveness of the cooperation of teacher-parents in supporting students’ learning of reading the Quran at the school? (3) What are the obstacles encountered in the implementation of the cooperation of teachers and parents? This is by nature mixed research. Observations, interviews, questionnaires, and document analysis were used in collecting data. The data were analyzed descriptively. The results show that there have been many kinds of collaborative efforts of teacher-parents, such as meeting of teacher-parents, seminars of parenting, monitoring book of the students’ tahsīn/tahfīẓ of the Quran, personal communication, and parents’ participation in learning to read the Quran at home. All these have been effective. Nevertheless, some constraints exist in the implementation of the cooperation, including the lack of attention and concern of some parents, and the lack of facilities and infrastructure that support the programs.

Abstract

The research on the use of experimental methods in learning characteristics of material and its usefulness toward students’ achievements and learning responses of Level 4 primary school students of MIN Tungkob Aceh Besar aims to determine students’ learning outcomes and responses toward the use of the method. This study uses experimental research. The data collection techniques were using test and distributing questionnaire to the students. The samples in this experimental study were students of class IV3 totaling 34 people as the experimental class and the class IV4 totaling 31 people as the control class. The data, which is the students’ learning outcomes collected from pretest and posttest, were analyzed using t-test formula. The data from the students’ questionnaire responses were analyzed using percentage formula.The result was that the students’ learning outcomes from the experimental class and the control class showed significant differences. Students’ responses toward the use of experimental methods in learning material characteristics and its usefulness were also very positive, where the students are very excited and interested in learning to use the experimental method in the study of material characteristics and its usefulness.

Abstract

One of the National education goals leads to the development of a student’s character value. Unfortunately, almost all educational processes at schools emphasize on improving cognitive aspects. This has slowed the student’s character value development. This research provides an illustration of science teachers in nurturing the character values of MTsN students in Aceh. The study adopted a descriptive method with a quantitative approach. The data were collected through analysis of lesson plan documents, classroom observations, and interviews. The result of the study indicated that the teachers showed high competence in nurturing students’ personality aspects at the lesson planning state in which all of the teachers were intelligent to include five-character values that need to be developed. However, not all teachers were competent in activating all character values during the classroom teaching and learning process. All teachers who were observed in all aspects of the investigation had successfully activated religious value, nationalism, and independence. On the other hand, the value of communal work and integrity were stimulated by only some of the teachers.
