Abstract

Ensuring continuous forage availability for ruminants remains a major challenge in livestock production, as silage making is often constrained by the risk of preservation failure. This study was conducted to evaluate the effect of vacuum air application (A1 = with vacuum air, A2 = without vacuum air) and different levels of molasses on the quality of corn stover silage. The experiment used a completely randomized factorial design with two factors, namely vacuum air (A1 and A2) and molasses levels (B1 = 2%, B2 = 3%, and B3 = 4% of fresh weight), each repeated five times. Parameters observed included pH, dry matter, organic matter, and crude protein. The results showed that vacuum air (A1) significantly increased dry matter, organic matter, and crude protein content (P0.05) compared to without vacuum air (A2), but had no effect on silage pH. Molasses addition also significantly affected dry matter, organic matter, and crude protein (P0.05), with B2 (3%) producing the highest values compared to B1 (2%) and B3 (4%), while pH remained unaffected. Furthermore, there was a significant interaction between vacuum air and molasses levels on crude protein content (P0.05). Overall, silage pH values ranged from 3.52 to 3.71, indicating stable acidity across treatments. It was concluded that the combination of vacuum air (A1) and molasses at 3% (B2) was the most effective treatment to improve the nutritional quality of corn stover silage, as indicated by higher dry matter, organic matter, and crude protein contents with stable pH values.

Abstract

Physiological response are influenced by environmental conditions, such as climate change and the feed. Limitied of land crop and farm cause difficulties to find grass as fiber feed. This research aimed to study the effect of dried kale and bean sprouts waste for substitution the grass on the physiological response of male javanese thin thailed sheep (under one years old) and their palatability. Feed treatment were : P1 (50% concentrate+50% grass), P2 (50% concentrate+50% dried kale), and P3 (50% concentrate+50% bean sprouts waste) respectively. The parameters were palatability, rectal temperature, heartbeat and respiration frequency. Analyze method used completely randomized design with three treatments of feeding and 4 replications was used. Data processed by ANOVA and Tukey’s for further test. The experimental result showed that feed treatment were not significant (P0.05) to rectal temperature, heartbeat and respiration frequency. The best palatability seen on P2 feed (50% consentrate + 50% mung bean sprout waste). The conclusion were bean sprout waste and dried kale can be used to substitute grass, they had a good palatability and they did not give bad effect to physiological of javanese thin tailed sheep.The conclusion of this study, bean sprout waste and dried kale has a good palatability and were not significant to physiological response of javanese thin tailed sheep so it can be used to substitute grass.Keywords: dried kale, physiological responses, javanese thin tailed sheep, bean sprout waste, palatability

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan  untuk mengetahui pengaruh substitusi tepung terigu dengan tepung millet  pada rolade ayam ditinjau dari kadar air, kualitas fisik, dan spektrum FTIR. Materi yang digunakan adalah rolade yang dibuat dari daging ayam yang menggunakan substitusi untuk mengganti tepung terigu dengan tepung millet. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah percobaan laboratorium dengan menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) dengan 5 perlakuan dan 4 ulangan.  Analisis data menggunakan analisis varian (ANOVA). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa substitusi tepung terigu dengan millet berpengaruh signifikan terhadap kadar air rolade, yang menurun seiring bertambahnya proporsi millet. Nilai pH rolade tidak menunjukkan perbedaan signifikan, sementara uji warna menunjukkan rolade cenderung cerah. Tekstur rolade semakin keras dengan peningkatan proporsi millet, meskipun tidak signifikan. Pengujian FTIR menunjukkan bahwa penambahan millet mengurangi protein dalam rolade, mempengaruhi rasa dan tekstur.

Abstract

Penelitian bertujuan mengevaluasi efek pemberian tepung biji kurma pada level yang berbeda terhadap performans sapi Peranakan Limousine jantan. Metode yang digunakan adalah metode eksperimen menggunakan RAK dengan 3 perlakuan dan 3 ulangan sebanyak 9 ekor sapi Peranakan Limousine jantan  yang dipilih berdasarkan bobot badan (300-350kg) dengan rata-rata berat awal 322±25,46 kg, berumur 18 bulan sampai 18bulan-24bulan, yang dipelihara selama 8 minggu. Perlakuan pakan yang diterapkan sebagai berikut : P0 = Ad libitum tebon jagung + konsentrat tanpa biji kurma, P1 = Ad libitum tebon jagung + konsentrat mengandung 7,5 % biji kurma, P2 = Ad libitum tebon jagung + konsentrat mengandung 12,5% RD. Variabel yang diukur meliputi PBB, PBBH, Konsumsi BK, Konsumsi BO, Kecernaan BK, Kecernaan BO, FCR dan IOFC. Data yang dianalisis dengan (ANKOVA) untuk mengendalikan galat dengan peubah penggiring bobot awal sapi dan dianalisis statistik menurut prosedur analisis ragam dilanjutkan dengan uji jarak berganda duncan. Perlakuan pakan komplit berbeda sangat nyata (P0.01) terhadap PBB, PBBH, FCR, IOFC dan berbeda nyata (P0.05) terhadap konsumsi BK, konsumsi BO, kecernaan BK, kecernaan BO. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah perlakuan P1 pakan (7,5% T biji kurma) munujukan hasil terbaik terhadap PBB, PBBH, KBK, KBO, KcBK, KcBO, FCR dan IOFC.

Abstract

The research was aimed to determine the effect and optimum level of betaine suplementation in low methionine diet on nutrient digestibility of quail. This research used 340 quails aged in four weeks with a mean initial body weight 98.31± 8.67 g with CV 8.82%.  The experimental diets were formulated with 0,3% methionine. The design of the experiment used completely randomized design with four treatments, each treatment was repeated five times. The treatments given were betaine supplementation as 0 (control), 0.07; 0.14 and 0.21%. In vivo digestibility was measured by total collection method, when the quails was at the age of 13 weeks. Two quails was randomly chosen from each replication. Nutrient digestibility data were analyzed using analysis of variance and if there was the effect of treatment, then it was followed orthogonal polymonial test. The results of analysis of variance showed that the highest level of betain in feed increased the digestibility of crude protein with the regresion equation y =16.7717 + 69.7569x (R2=0.37) and optimum level of betaine supplementation on crude ash digestibility used the regression equation y = 6.7546x + 132.624 -500.806x2 (R2=0.21) was 0.13%. The conclusion of this research was that betaine supplementation in low methionine diet increased digestibility of crude protein and crude ash. Keywords: betaine, methionine, nutrient digestibility, quail

Abstract

This research was conducted to study palatability of meatball with fresh and imported frozen beef as base material with varians level of sodium tripolyphosphates. This research used randomized block design with 6 treatments and 3 groups of time production periods.The treatments were 0,2% (A), 0,3% (B); 0,4% (C) of sodium tripolyphosphates addition  into fresh beef mixture and 0,2% (D), 0,3% (E); 0,4% (F) of sodium tripolyphosphates addition into thawed of imported beef mixture.  Data from hedonic method of organoleptic test in color, texture, aroma, hardness, elasticity and taste variable  analized by Kruskal-Wallis-non parametric method and continued by multiple comparison test when significant result  (P0,05). The result showed that panelists prefered 0,2% (D) of sodium tripolyphosphates addition into thawed of import beef mixture and 0,2% (A), 0,3% (B); 0,4% (C) of sodium tripolyphosphates addition  into fresh beef mixture to 0,3% (E) and 0,4% (F) of sodium tripolyphosphates addition into thawed of imported  beef mixture (P0,05)  in color, texture, hardness, elasticity and taste of meatball,  excep for aroma  was similar preferance (P0,05) in aroma. The level  0,2%  of sodium tripolyphosphates addition into thawed of imported beef mixture for meatballs can improve the product functional properties effectively and recommended.Keywords: meatball, fresh beef, imported frozen beef, palatability, sodium tripolyphosphates

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menduga nilai heritabilitas bobot lahir dan bobot sapih pada domba hasil persilangan antara pejantan Dorper dan induk Cross Texel. Pemahaman terhadap parameter genetik ini krusial untuk merancang program seleksi yang efisien guna mempercepat laju perbaikan mutu genetik. Metode yang digunakan adalah analisis data saudara tiri sebapak (paternal half-sib) dengan rancangan acak lengkap pola searah. Data performa yang telah disusun berdasarkan silsilah dikoreksi terlebih dahulu untuk meminimalkan pengaruh faktor lingkungan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan rataan bobot lahir jantan dan betina masing-masing adalah 2,98 ± 0,89 kg dan 2,87 ± 0,66 kg, sedangkan rataan bobot sapih adalah 18,70 ± 4,90 kg dan 17,18 ± 4,61 kg. Nilai estimasi heritabilitas untuk bobot lahir adalah 0,22 ± 0,19 (kategori sedang) dan untuk bobot sapih adalah 0,37 ± 0,23 (kategori tinggi). Disimpulkan bahwa sifat pertumbuhan, terutama bobot sapih, memiliki potensi yang baik untuk dijadikan kriteria seleksi awal dalam program pemuliaan domba karena nilai heritabilitasnya yang tinggi.

Abstract

      Baratan Village, Patrang Sub-district, Jember District has a high potential production of cassava chips by Home Industry (IRT). Solid waste of cassava (cassava husk) from cassava processing into cassava chips has not been utilized properly. Cassava husk can be used as raw material for animal feed. The purpose of this program is the empowerment of the community of Baratan IRT in the processing of cassava husk into broiler feed and to increase the value of the waste and can improve the economic of the IRT in Baratan Village. Cassava husk has a deficiency because of the antinutrient content (Cyanide Acid) and dangerous when consumed. The methods used in this program are counseling and chipping of cassava with chipping tools, counseling and training of utilitation of cassava waste, counseling and training of broiler feed formulation, pelet making, mentoring, monitoring and evaluation. The result of this program is the IRT Baratan Village Jember Regency is able to process the solid waste from processing of cassava chips into broiler feed (pelet). Guidebooks can be used by IRT well so they can treat the waste into feed independently. IRT cassava chips as a partner of this program can implement and apply the technology that has been given and strive to always continuous in the manufacture of feed and pellet product development in an effort to improve the welfare and sustainability of the program.Keywords: cassava waste, pelet feed, Baratan Village

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui dan mengkaji pengaruh penambahan ekstrak daun adas (Foeniculum vulgare Mill) terhadap organoleptik dan mutu sabun susu kambing batangan, serta untuk mengetahui kadar penambahan ekstrak daun adas yang paling baik. Bahan yang digunakan yaitu minyak kelapa, minyak zaitun, minyak sawit, NaOH, susu kambing, ekstrak daun adas. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental menggunakan Rancangan Acak Lengkap dengan 3 perlakuan dan 4 kali ulangan. Perlakuan yang digunakan yaitu P1 = tanpa penambahan ekstrak daun adas, P2 = penambahan ekstrak daun adas 3,5 %, dan P3 = penambahan ekstrak daun adas 7 %. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penambahan ekstrak daun adas pada sabun susu kambing batangan memberikan pengaruh nyata terhadap warna, aroma, pH, dan alkali bebas. Tetapi tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap kadar air. Berdasarkan Standar Nasional Indonesia (SNI) 06-3532-2021 pH sediaan sabun pada penelitian ini belum memenuhi ketentuan, sedangkan kadar air dan alkali bebas pada perlakuan 3 dengan penambahan ekstrak daun adas 7 % sudah sesuai berdasarkan ketentuan SNI. Sehingga penambahan ekstrak daun adas 7 % pada sabun susu kambing batangan memberikan perlakuan yang terbaik.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pengaruh bahan penyalut maltodekstrin yang digunakan pada  mikroenkapsulasi  probiotik  bakteri  asam  laktat  (BAL)  dengan  metode  spray  drying  terhadap viabilitas  sel  BAL  selama  pengeringan.  Probiotik  BAL  yang  digunakan  adalah Streptococcus thermophilus  (Kp-2),  Lactobacillus  murinus  (Ar-3),  Pediococcus  acidilactici (Kd-6).  Mikrokapsul probiotik  Lactobacillus  murinus  menunjukkan  ketahanan  terhadap temperatur  80-85°C  selama  15 detik, akan tetapi Lactobacillus murinus tidak mampu mempertahankan viabilitasnya pada detik ke-30 dan  45.  Di  sisi  lain,  Streptococcus thermophilus  dan  Pediococcus  acidilactici  menunjukkan kemampuan  menghadapi  paparan panas  selama  15,  30  dan  45  detik.  Kadar  air  semua  sampel mikrokapsul probiotik berada pada standar normal kadar air dari produk hasil spray drying (di bawah 6%),  sementara aktivitas  air  berada  pada  kisaran  0,08  hingga  0,19.  Kesimpulan  yang  diperoleh adalah viabilitas  seluruh  probiotik  menurun  seiring  bertambahnya  lama  waktu  pemanasan  yang digunakan.  Sementara  persentase  viabilitas  Streptococcus  thermophilus  (Kp-2), Pediococcus acidilactici (Kd-6), dan probiotik campuran (MIX) pada detik ke-30 dan ke-45 tidak berbeda nyata  Kata kunci: Mikroenkapsulasi, probiotik unggas, viabilitas, pemanasan, spray drying
