Abstract

The purpose of this study was to assess the feasibility of the developed Citizen Science-Based Flowering Plant Diversity Worksheet as well as the enhancement of students' critical thinking abilities. This was a pre-experiment with a pretest-posttest design with one group. Validator employed a four-scale validation sheet to assess the feasibility of the Citizen Science-Based Flowering Plant Diversity Worksheet based on competency, practical, knowledge construction, and the appearance of critical thinking ability. Five critical thinking ability indicators were tested: interpretation, analysis, explanation, evaluation, and inference. These indications were tested in 104 10th grade students through a critical thinking ability test before and after studying with the Citizen Science-Based Flowering Plant Diversity worksheet. Descriptive statistics were used to analyze the data. The Citizen Science-Based Flowering Plant Diversity Worksheet was found feasible (95.12%) and students' critical thinking abilities increased moderately (N-Gain = 0.56). The most notable development in critical thinking ability was in interpretation ability, while inference ability improved the least. As a result, the Citizen Science-Based Flowering Plant Diversity Worksheet may be inferred to be quite effective in improving students' critical thinking abilities.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effectiveness of bokashi on the productivity of hybrid maize (Zea mays L). Bokashi is expected to maintain soil fertility, replace chemical fertilizers which are very expensive, and have an adverse effect on the soil. High corn productivity is useful for meeting the food needs of the community. The research was carried out in the rice fields of KepanjenVillage Gumukmas. This type of research is a true experiment using a completely randomized design (CRD), and a factorial pattern, which consists of 3 factors, namely: 1) positive control (NPK); 2) negative control; 3) bokashi 50%. Each treatment was repeated 3 times, with 10 plant samples per replication. The research data were tested using Analysis of Variant (ANOVA) v20, and continued with Duncan's test for data that had a significant effect. The results of the ANOVA analysis showed that bokashi had a significant effect on the productivity of corn plants, while the results of the follow-up test stated that the positive control treatment had the best value, and bokashi was in second place. Corn grown using bokashi has the advantage that it is more resistant to pests and insects.

Abstract

Coexistence with the same sex is often discussed in recent times, but its effect on reproductive health has not been widely publicized. This study used male (Mus musculus) animals to determine the effect of co- rearing female animals on the quantity and quality of spermatozoa. The research type carried out was purely experimental with a completely randomized design with 4 treatments, namely control (P0) rearing which contained only 5 male mice, P1 rearing consisting of 3 males and 2 females, and P1 rearing consisting of 3 males and 2 females, P2 consisting of 2 males and 3 females while P3 contained 1 male and 4 female. Each treatment consisted of 6 replications. Animals are kept from 4 weeks old to 10 weeks old. Parameters observed are concentration, motility, and normal morphology of spermatozoa, and data analysis was tested by Kruskall-Wallis Test followed by Duncan’s test. the best spermatozoa compared to other treatments. The results showed that there were significant differences in the quantity and quality of spermatozoa, in the various treatment and maintenance groups, which indicated that the treatment with the composition of 1 male and 4 females had the best quantity and quality of spermatozoa compared to other treatments.

Abstract

Board games are one of the supporting tools for understanding complex material and abstract scientific concepts This study aims to develop a board game with cell membrane transport material and test the board game response by experts. This study is research and development. This board game was developed for class XI science students using learning progression. The research design used was adopted by Arnel A. Gutierrez's research. The steps used in this study include the preparation stage, game development, and response testing by experts. Test responses are carried out by distributing questionnaires to validators /experts using Google Form. The questionnaire assesses the content, instructions, appearance, and design of the media. Analysis of the validity of the instrument with five options using a Likert scale, given four choices between ranges of disagreeing, disagree, agree, and strongly agree. The results of data analysis using a ranking scale Rasch model may indicate that the validity of the score of the selected respondents indicated that the average value of observations shows a significant difference starting from logit -0.32 for selection score of 1 (disagree), and 0.96 for the selection quite agree, 2.58 for the agreeable choice and 5.69 for the strongly agree choice. Between these options, there is an increase in logit, which indicates that the scale on the questionnaire used is good. The Andrich Threshold average value starts from the value of none, negative -3.54 to positive 4.17 indicating that the answer option from the respondent is valid, which means the board game can be used.

Abstract

Numerous pesticides derived from human activity are now disseminated in the environment that have been identified as an estrogenic activity that mainly affects the male reproductive system. The objective study was to determine the dose of methoxychlor (MXC) pesticides administered to the mother during the lactation period that would affect the sperm quality of the offspring in mice. Twenty-four BALB/c strains were divided into control and treatment groups. MXC was administered once daily by intraperitoneal to female mice for days 1 to 21 of lactation periods, with 0.14 mg/g, 0.28 mg/g, and 0,42 mg/g doses of MXC. Male litters were killed at postnatal day (PND) 60, and the cauda epididymis was used to observe sperm motility and morphology characteristics. Parameters observed were the number of spermatozoa abnormal and the percentage of progressive spermatozoa. ANOVA showed that the effect of MXC was significantly different in the case of the number of abnormal sperm and the rate of progressive sperm parameters. Duncan's Multiple Range Test (DMRT) showed that D3 (0.42 mg/g) gave the highest effect of MXC on increasing abnormal spermatozoa morphology and decreasing the percentage of motile sperm. These results indicate that exposure to MXC, which showed a physiological response in the lactation period, reduces the sperm quality of offspring
