UNM Journal of Biological Education with p-ISSN 2581-1959 and e-ISSN 2581-1967 publishes the latest research into the biology teaching and learning, assessment of biology learning, development of biology teaching and learning strategy, development of biology teaching media. The journal aims to bridge the gap between research and practice, providing information, ideas and opinion, in addition to critical examinations of advances in biology teaching and learning research. Special emphasis is placed on research relevant to educational practices, guided by educational realities in systems, schools, colleges and universities. Articles that are theoretically informed and methodologically rigorous are welcomed. It is owned by The Graduate School of Universitas Negeri Makassar. It is published twice a year, March and September.

Abstract

This study is an expost-facto study that aims to examine whether there is a relationship between knowledge and attitudes on public waste management in Kujau Village of Betayau subdistrict in Tana Tidung district. The independent variables in this study are knowledge and attitudes, while the dependent variable is waste management. The population of the study were all heads of families in Kujau Village of Betayau subdistrict in Tana Tidung district, while the sample was 40 people obtained by employing Accidental Sampling Technique and the correct number of samples was above thirty and below five hundred. Data collection techniques employed questionnaires and interviews. The data analysis technique employed descriptive analysis and inferential analysis. Based on the results of inferential data analysis, it is discovered that there is a positive and significant relationship between knowledge and waste management at strong relationship level. The attitudes on waste have a positive and significant relationship on waste management at a very strong relationship level. There is a positive and significant relationship between knowledge and attitudes on public waste management which is in a very strong relationship.

Abstract

This study is a development research (Research & Development) which aims to examine the level of validity, practicality, and effectiveness of the Differentiation-Based Learning devices. The development process of differentiation-based learning refers to the 4-D model development model by Thiagarajan. This study was conducted at SMAN 16 Bone with 30 students of grade X MIA 1 and 2 Biology teachers as the research subjects. The research instrument employed learning device validation sheet, teachers’ response questionnaires, students’ response questionnaires, implementation observation sheets, and the test instruments in the form of multiple choice questions. Data of validity and practicality levels were collected by using questionnaires and data of the effectiveness level using the learning outcomes test. Data collection techniques consisted of non-test and test techniques. The results of the study reveal that the learning devices which include the lesson plans, LKPD, media, and THB are valid, practical, and effective in improving students' learning outcomes skills. The learning devices are in fully implemented category, the responses of teachers and students are in very practical and practical category. The learning devices are categorized as effective with the completeness of the learning outcomes test of 82.4% each.

Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian dan pengembangan yang bertujuan untuk menghasilkan produk berupa emodul biologi berbasis contextual teaching and learnind dengan mind mapping pada materi sistem koordinasi kelas XI SMA. Penelitian ini mengacu pada model pengembangan ADDIE yang terdiri dari lima tahap, yaitu Analisis (Analyze), desain (Design), Pengembangan (Development), Implementasi (implementation), dan Evaluasi (Evaluation). Instrumen penelitian yang digunakan berupa lembar validasi, angket respon guru, angket respon siswa, dan tes hasil belajar. Sampel dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas XI SMA Negeri 2 Luwu. Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa: 1) e-modul biologi berbasis contextual teaching and learnind dengan mind mapping memenuhi kriteria valid dengan rerata skor sebesar 4,4; 2) e-modul biologi berbasis contextual teaching and learnind dengan mind mapping memenuhi kriteria praktis berdasarkan hasil respon guru dengan rerata 96.7% pada kategori sangat kuat dan 3.3% pada kategori kuat, sedangkan hasil respon siswa dengan rerata 36.7% pada kategori sangat kuat dan 63.3% pada kategori kuat; 3) e-modul biologi berbasis contextual teaching and learnind dengan mind mapping memenuhi kriteria efektif dengan persentase ketuntasan hasil belajar siswa sebesar 81% (sangat efektif). Berdasarkan hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa e-modul biologi berbasis contextual teaching and learnind dengan mind telah memenuhi kriteria valid, praktis dan efektif.

Abstract

Influence Of Problem Based Learning Model To Biology Learning Outcomes And Critical Thinking Skill Of Students. This research is a quasi experimental with pretest posttest control group design which aims to determine critical thinking skills and learning outcomes. The research sample was randomly selected and the XII IPA 1 was selected as the control and the XII IPA 3 as experimental class. The technique of collecting data was through giving test description to measure critical thinking skills and multiple choice test to measure biology learning outcomes. The data analysis technique used are descriptive and inferential statistics analysis with the independent sample t-test. The result of descriptive analysis show that students who are taught with the model problem based learning have critical thinking skills and learning outcomes in the middle category. While the results of inferential analysis show that there are differences in critical thinking skills and learning outcomes of students who are using the problem based learning model and conventional learning, that show average value of problem-based learning model are higher. The results show the problem based learning model has a positive effect on critical thinking skills and biology learning outcomes in mutation topic at SMAN 10 Luwu Utara.

Abstract

This study aims to determine: (1) the description of emotional intelligence, learning motivation, and science learning outcomes for students in class VIII SMPN in Benteng District, (2) The relationship between emotional intelligence and science learning outcomes for students in class VIII SMPN in Benteng Regency. Benteng Regency, (3) the relationship between learning motivation and science learning outcomes for class VIII SMPN students in Benteng Regency, (4) the relationship between emotional intelligence and learning motivation on science learning outcomes for VIII SMPN students in Benteng Regency. This research is an ex post facto research which is correlational. Sampling by means of random sampling. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and inferential statistical analysis. The conclusions in this study are as follows. (1) The emotional intelligence of class VIII SMP Negeri in Benteng Subdistrict, Selayar Islands Regency is in the medium qualification. Motivation to learn is in moderate to high qualifications, and student learning outcomes are in low, medium to high qualifications. (2) There is a significant influence of emotional intelligence directly on learning outcomes. (3) There is a significant effect of learning motivation directly on learning outcomes. (4) There is a significant influence between emotional intelligence and learning motivation together on learning outcome.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the influence of adversity intelligence, parents’ attention, and self-efficacy on Biology learning outcomes. This type of study is an expost facto research with a population of all students of grade XI at SMAN in Tana Tidung district, namely SMAN 1 Tana Tidung, SMAN 2 Tana Tidung, and SMAN TU 1 Tana Tidung. The total population was 129 people and based on the sample calculation using the Slovin’s formula, the sample was obtained with 97 people. The sampling technique emplooyed cluster sampling technique. The research instruments used were questionnaires on adversity intelligence, parents’ attention, and self-efficacy as well as documentation of Biology learning outcomes. The data obtained were then analyzed by using descriptive analysis and inferential statistical analysis. The variables of the consisted of independent variables, namely adversity intelligence, parents’ attention, and self-efficacy; whereas, the dependent variable was learning outcomes. Based on the results of inferential analysis and the research results, it is discovered that adversity intelligence has a direct influence on learning outcomes, the parents’ attention has a direct influence on learning outcomes, the self-efficacy has a direct influence on learning outcomes, the adversity intelligence and parents’ attention have an indirect influence through self-efficacy on learning outcomes.

Abstract

This study is a development research that aims to produce a product in the form of interactive learning media based on Articulate Storyline in Human Reproductive System material. This development research refers to the ADDIE development model which consists of five stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The subjects of the study were students of grade XI. IPA at SMAN 11 Pangkep. Based on the results of data analysis, it shows that 1) the interactive learning media based on Articulate Storyline on Human Reproductive System material meets the valid criteria with a mean score of 4.54 (very valid), 2) the interactive learning media based on Articulate Storyline material on Human Reproductive System material meets the practical criteria based on the results of the teacher's response by 95.93% (very positive) and the results of the student’s response by 84, 56% (very positive), 3) the interactive learning media based on Articulate Storyline on Human Reproductive System material meets the effective criteria with the percentage of completeness of learning outcomes by 84.62%. Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the interactive learning media based on Articulate Storyline material on Human Reproductive System material has met the valid, practical, and effective criteria.

Abstract

Media has a very important role in the learning process. Media can be used as learning aids that can make it easier for teachers to convey material in the learning process while making it easier for students to receive and understand material with the media product of climbing areca nut bio board games. The purpose of this research is to produce a media product for the areca nut climbing board game for learning biology. This media serves as a tool to stimulate memory and strengthen material for class XI SMA/MA students. This research is a development research using the Borg and Gall model which consists of the stages of Research and Information collecting, planning, developing preliminary form a product, preliminary field testing, main product revision, main field testing. The sample of this study was students of SMAN 6 Takalar class XI MIPA 1 with a total of 36 respondents. This research was conducted in December 2021 – February 2022. The instrument developed for effectiveness was the learning outcome test instrument. The learning media of the areca climbing Bio Board Games has collaborative, competitive, and cooperative elements. The media of the areca climbing Bio Board games that was developed was then tested for validity until it was declared valid by the validator and then implemented to determine the effectiveness through a learning outcome test. The results showed that the learning media of the areca climbing bio board games which was developed especially on learning outcomes met the effectiveness criteria because the number of students who obtained complete scores at the time of the posttest (94.5%) was in the very good category and the average value of the analysis was N- the normalized gain of 0.69 is in the medium category. Thus, based on the score obtained, the media is declared feasible and effective for use in biology learning, especially in the material of the circulation system.

Abstract

This development research refers to ADDIE development model which consists of five (5) stages, namely Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The research instruments employed instrument validation sheet, teacher’s response questionnaire, students’ questionnaires, and learning outcomes test. The sample of the study were students of grade XI at SMAN 13 Pangkep. Based on the results of data analysis, it is discovered that 1) Augmented Reality (AR)-based media in Circulatory System material meets valid criteria with a mean score of 4.8 (valid); 2) the Augmented Reality (AR)-based media in Circulatory System material meets very practical criteria based on the average result of teacher’s response of 96.08% (very positive) and the result of students’ responses 83.25% (very positive); and 3) the Augmented Reality (AR)-based media in the circulatory system material meets effective criteria with the percentage of completeness of learning outcomes by 83.73% (high). Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that Augmented Reality (AR)-based media in Circulatory System material has met valid, practical, and effective criteria.

Abstract

The research is the development of research or Research and Development (R & D). Development models used in this research is the development model of ASSURE development model. This model consists of 6 stages of activities, namely: 1) learner characteristic analysis, 2) state objectives, 3) select, modify or design materials, 4 ) utilize technology, media, and materials, 5) require learner response, and 6) evaluate. The purpose of this research is to produce a valid, practical and effective weblog based learning media for biology comics and increase the motivation of high school students to learn. The assessment instruments consist of three, namely: a) Evaluation of the validity of weblog-based comics biology learning media, b) Practicality in the form of teacher response instruments and student responses to weblog-based biology comics learning media and c) Effectiveness in the form of student response instruments to learning motivation. Based on data analysis, the average validity of the media obtained by three validators is 4.25 (valid). The practicality of weblog-based biology comics learning media obtained teacher responses of 4.4 (high) and student responses of 4.2 (high). The effectiveness value of high school students' learning motivation using weblog-based biology comics as measured by normalized n-gain has increased by 0.61 (medium category). Based on the results of the study it can be concluded that the biology-based learning media for weblogs that are developed are valid, practical and effective. Weblog-based comic media is expected to be one of the media used by teachers, students and schools in the world of learning biology
