This journal, with ISSN 2088-1290, was firstly published on June 1, 2011, in the context to commemorate the Birthday of Pancasila's Name in Indonesia. Since issue of June 2012 to December 2014, the ATIKAN journal was organized by the Lecturers of FKIP UNSUR (Faculty of Education and Teacher Training, Suryakancana University) in Cianjur; and, since issue of December 2014 to June 2015, by the Lecturers of FPOK UPI (Faculty of Sport and Health Education, Indonesia University of Education) in Bandung; and published by Minda Masagi Press as a publisher owned by ASPENSI (the Association of Indonesian Scholars of History Education) in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia. The articles published in ATIKAN journal are able to be written in English as well as in Indonesian and Malay languages. This journal is published twice a year i.e. every June and December. The ATIKAN journal is devoted, but not limited to, primary education, secondary education, higher education, teacher education, special education, adult education, non-formal education, and any new development and advancement in the field of education. The scope of our journal includes: (1) Language and literature education; (2) Social science education; (3) Sports and health education; (4) Economy and business education; (5) Math and natural science education; (6) Vocational and engineering education; and (7) Visual arts, dance, music, and design education.

Abstract

ABSTRACT: Leadership in general is a process to influences the human activities, which has connection with what they need to do to achieve the organisation’s objectives. Meanwhile, leadership research has taken different perspectives: leader traits, behaviours, and the influences of situational characteristics on leader effectiveness, for example, have all been studied. This study was performed to obtain the relationship between the elements of leadership among administrators at the polytechnic in Malaysia. A total of 102 administrators who have been involved in this study. Data were collected using a set of instruments to measure the elements of leadership. Data were analyzed using the SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences) 21. The findings of the analysis of structural equation indicates that Strategic Thinking, Vision and Mission, Rewards, Personality, and Innovative Thinking have had significantly high correlation between each other. The findings show also that the elements of Strategic Thinking and Rewards influenced in developing the Vision and Mission of the TVE (Technical and Vocational Education). In addition, the Personality has also a significant relationship with the elements of Rewards and Innovative Thinking. As a leader in TVE institutions, it is necessary for the leaders to practice the effective leadership style as well as the realization of education and training systems in line with industry requirements and the current market.KEY WORD: Technical and vocational education, structural equation modelling, strategic thinking, vision and mission, rewards, personality, and innovative thinking.RINGKASAN: “Pengaruh Kepimpinan dalam Pendidikan Teknik dan Vokasional”. Kepimpinan secara amnya adalah satu proses untuk mempengaruhi kegiatan manusia, yang mempunyai kaitan dengan apa yang mereka perlu lakukan untuk mencapai matlamat organisasi. Sementara itu, penyelidikan kepimpinan telah mengambil perspektif yang berbeza: ciri-ciri pemimpin, tingkah-laku, dan pengaruh ciri-ciri situasi pada keberkesanan mengenai pemimpin, sebagai contoh, semuanya telah dikaji. Kajian ini dilaksanakan untuk mendapatkan hubungan di antara elemen-elemen kepimpinan dalam kalangan pentadbir di politeknik Malaysia. Sejumlah 102 orang pentadbir telah terlibat dalam kajian ini. Data telah dikumpulkan menggunakan satu set instrumen untuk mengukur elemen kepimpinan tersebut. Data telah dianalisis menggunakan perisian SPSS 21. Hasil analisis persamaan struktur menunjukkan bahwa Pemikiran Strategik, Visi dan Misi, Ganjaran, Personaliti, dan Pemikiran Inovatif mempunyai korelasi signifikan yang tinggi antara satu sama lain. Dapatan kajian juga menunjukan bahawa unsur Pemikiran Strategik dan Ganjaran mempengaruhi dalam membangunkan Visi dan Misi PTV (Pendidikan Teknik dan Vokasional). Di samping itu, Personaliti juga mempunyai hubungan yang signifikan dengan unsur Ganjaran dan Pemikiran Inovatif. Abstract

ABSTRACT: The purpose of this study was to investigate students’ attitudes to learning Mathematics with Technology at rural Secondary Schools in Sabah, Malaysia. This study involved 17 Secondary rural and non-rural Secondary Schools in Sabah.  A total of  613  Form 4, Form 2, and Form 1 students were randomly chosen as respondents. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the collected data. The reliability of the instrument was analyzed by using the Statistical Packages for Social Sciences (SPSS) version 13.0 for Windows. Descriptive statistical analysis showed that only 13.0% of rural Secondary School students possessed positive attitude to learning Mathematics with Technology as compared to 21.5% of students from non-rural Secondary Schools. Results of independent sample t-test has indicated that there was a significant difference (t = -2.424, df = 543, p < 0.05) in attitudes to learning Mathematics with Technology between rural and non-rural school students. Students from non-rural Secondary Schools possessed higher Confidence with Technology compared to students from rural schools. Inferentional statistical analysis also showed that there was no significant difference in students’ attitudes to learning Mathematics with Technology based on gender, streaming, and level of schooling. Therefore, Mathematics teacher is the main factors in how technology is used in classroom. Abstract

RINGKASAN: Provinsi Jawa Barat termasuk daerah rawan bencana; dan minimnya pengetahuan masyarakat akan kebencanaan menyebabkan resiko bencana menjadi semakin tinggi. Masyarakat suatu daerah mempunyai kearifan lokal untuk mengurangi resiko bencana yang perlu digali dan disebarluaskan. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengembangkan perangkat pembelajaran mitigasi bencana berorientasi kearifan lokal pada pelajaran IPA (Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam) di SMK (Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan). Tahap penelitian dikenal dengan istilah “model 4-p”, yaitu: pendefinisian, perancangan, pengembangan, dan pendiseminasian. Peneliti telah berhasil menyusun perangkat PMBBKL (Pembelajaran Mitigasi Bencana Berorientasi Kearifan Lokal) pada pelajaran IPA di SMK. Materi pembelajaran yang dikembangkan antara lain: fenomena bencana alam; konsep mitigasi bencana; kearifan lokal; serta konsep mitigasi bencana gempa bumi, banjir, tanah longsor, gunung berapi, dan tsunami. Implementasi PMBBKL pada dua SMK di Jawa Barat menunjukan bahwa siswa yang menerapkan PMBBKL dengan pendekatan STM (Sains Teknologi Masyarakat) memiliki pemahaman mitigasi bencana lebih baik dibandingkan dengan siswa yang mengikuti pembelajaran konvensional. Hal ini dimungkinkan karena pada pembelajaran tersebut ditunjukkan proses dan dampak bencana melalui berbagai media, termasuk kearifan lokal masyarakat agar terhindar dari bencana.KATA KUNCI: Mitigasi Bencana; Kearifan Lokal; Pelajaran Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam; Siswa Sekolah Menengah Kejuruan; Pendekatan Sains Teknologi dan Masyarakat. ABSTRACT: “Learning of Disaster Mitigation Oriented Local Wisdom in the Science Lesson at the Secondary Vocational High School”. West Java is considered as one of disaster prone areas in Indonesia; in addition to that lack of people’s awareness and knowledge regarding to disaster is leading to higher susceptibility to disaster. Local community poses local wisdom to mitigate the risk of disaster and this local wisdom need to be elaborated and disseminated to broader community. The objective of this research is to develop set of learning tools to mitigate the disaster in the Science subject for the pupils of Secondary Vocational High School. The model of 4-d consists of four stages, namely: definition, design, develop, and disseminate. Researcher had developed set of learning tools to mitigate the disaster in the Science subject, based on the local wisdom to mitigate the disaster in the community. The learning materials consist of: disaster phenomena; local wisdom; and disaster mitigation concept to cope with various disasters, such as earthquake, flooding, landslide, volcano eruption, and tsunami. The implementation of that subject to two Secondary Vocational High Schools in West Java showed that students which enroll to that class which is taught the disaster mitigation materials in Science subject based on STS (Sci­ence Technology Society) poses better comprehension of the disaster mitigation concept compared to other class which is taught by conventional Science subject. This result is possible due to the reason that in the learning process, the teacher taught the students by utilizing the learning materials through various media, including the community’s local wisdom to cope with the disaster. Abstract

ABSTRACT: Assessment has been studied by many researchers and educators from the prism of educational theories which means a purely instructional or pedagogical analysis of assessment. But there is an open space in which learning assessment could be further scrutinized using sociological perspective, so that we could explore and expose the social roles of assessment. This discussion is engaged in the analysis of the social consequences of assessment and its resistances from the various participants of teaching and learning process. Assessment has been widely used for accountability, control, and sorting mechanism of society to distribute the limited social positions that are available. Thus, only those students who are properly equipped with knowledge, values, and competencies are the ones who excel in the assessment devices. Students in the lower echelon of society are left with limited opportunities for social mobility and employment, due to their limited capacity to pass through this filtering machine called assessment. So, there some manifest and latent resistances that students as well as teachers about the negative consequences of assessment. Thus, assessment is not only a system to improve learning, account teachers, and schools but rather is an instrument of academic segregation and tracking. Assessment should be viewed beyond the walls of classroom by looking at the close but intricate linkage of assessment and society. Since assessment is a social fact, therefore, we need to consider how it is developed and practiced in everyday life of teachers and students. Education is never neutral, according to Paulo Freire, and also assessment is can never be neutral. It is resisted by some sector of society, but it is still a very strong mechanism to classify and rank people in a society. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Masalah pendidikan politik dan pendidikan kewarganegaraan bagi suatu negara-bangsa merupakan proses pembinaan, penanaman, dan pewarisan nilai-nilai kebangsaan dan kenegaraan yang diselenggarakan dalam lingkungan pendidikan, karena pendidikan dipandang memiliki peranan penting dan strategis dalam pembangunan bangsa. Dalam perkembangannya di Indonesia, Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan mengalami perubahan dan penyempurnaan sejak zaman Orde Lama (1959-1966), Orde Baru (1966-1998), dan Orde Reformasi (1998 – sekarang). Artikel ini membicarakan pentingnya dilakukan revitalisasi pendidikan politik dalam Pendidikan Kewarganegaraan (PKn). Dalam konteks ini, pembelajaran pembentukan karakter bangsa melalui mata pelajaran PKn, atau Civic Education, perlu diarahkan agar mereka dapat mengembangkan kecerdasan warga negara (civic intelligence) dalam dimensi spiritual, rasional, emosional, dan sosial; tanggung jawab warga negara (civic responsibility); serta partisipasi warga negara (civic participation). Konsepsi yang termuat dalam kurikulum PKn perlu dipelajari, ditanamkan, dan diwariskan kepada peserta didik agar terbentuk warga negara yang baik. Melalui pembelajaran PKn berbasis pendidikan politik diharapkan memupuk kedisiplinan, kepekaan sosial, melatih berpikir kritis, kemampuan memecahkan masalah secara jernih, serta budaya demokratis dapat ditegakkan.KATA KUNCI: Revitalisasi pendidikan politik, pendidikan kewarganegaraan, warga negara yang baik, dan budaya demokrasi di Indonesia.ABSTRACT: This article entitled “Revitalization of Political Education in Indonesia’s Civics Education”. Problem of political education and citizenship education for a nation-state is the coaching process, planting, and inheritance of national values and the statehood were maintained in environmental education, due to education is seen to have an important and strategic role in the development of the nation. Civic education in Indonesia has changed and developed since the era of Old Order (1959-1966), New Order (1966-1998), and Reform Order (1998 to date). This article discussed the importance of political education conducted revitalization in Citizenship (Civics) Education. In this context, the formation of character, through learning subjects Civics Education, should be directed so that they can develop the intelligence of the citizens (civics intelligence) in the spiritual dimension, rational, emotional, and social responsibilities of citizens as well as participation citizenship. Conception contained in the Civics curriculum needs to be studied and instilled bequeathed to the students, in order to form good citizens. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Perguruan Tinggi, sebagai salah satu mediator dan fasilitator terdepan dalam membangun generasi muda bangsa, mempunyai kewajiban dalam mengajarkan, mendidik, melatih, dan memotivasi mahasiswanya, sehingga muncul generasi cerdas yang mandiri, kreatif, inovatif, dan mampu menciptakan berbagai peluang pekerjaan. Untuk itu sebuah keharusan bagi setiap Perguruan Tinggi dengan cara mengubah arah kebijakannya dari “Learning and Research University” (Universitas Penelitian dan Pendidikan) menjadi “Entrepreneurial University” (Universitas Wirausaha), atau menyeimbangkan kedua arah kebijakan tersebut sehingga keduanya tercapai. Dengan perubahan paradigma tersebut pada akhirnya akan melahirkan wirausaha muda yang sukses dan mampu membangkitkan bangsa ini dari berbagai keterpurukan. Usaha-usaha untuk menanamkan jiwa dan semangat kewirausahaan di Perguruan Tinggi dapat dilakukan dengan berbagai metode dan strategi yang membuat mahasiswa tertarik untuk berwirausaha. Sedikitnya ada enam cara dalam meningkatkan gema kewirausahaan bagi mahasiswa, yaitu: (1) Pendirian pusat kewirausahaan kampus; (2) Prioritas kewirausahaan; (3) Pengembangan program mahasiswa wirausaha; (4) Program wirausaha mandiri untuk mahasiswa; (5) Program peningkatan kompetensi tenaga kerja dan produktivitas bagi mahasiswa; serta (6) Program pemberian modal usaha untuk mahasiswa.KATA KUNCI: Strategi Perguruan Tinggi, membangun generasi muda bangsa, wiarausaha mahasiswa, realisasi kampus wirausaha, serta mediator dan fasilitator.ABSTRACT: “Higher Education Strategy in Creating the Entrepreneurial Campus”. Universities, as one of the leading mediator and facilitator in building the nations youth, have an obligation to teach, educate, train, and motivate students, so there is an intelligent generation of independent, creative, innovative, and able to create a variety of employment opportunities. Hence, it is a must for every College by changing the direction of its policy from "Learning and Research University" into "Entrepreneurial University", or balance the two directions of the policy so that both achieved. With the paradigm shift will eventually give birth to young entrepreneurs who are successful and able to raise this nation from a variety of adversity. Attempts to infuse the soul and spirit of entrepreneurship in higher education can be done by various methods and strategies that make students interested in entrepreneurship. There are at least six ways to improve the entrepreneurship echo for students, that is: (1) the establishment of campus entrepreneurship center; (2) entrepreneurship priority; (3) the development of student entrepreneurship program; (4) independent entrepreneurial programs for students; (5) the program increased competence and productivity of labor for students; and (6) the provision programs of venture capital for students.KEY WORD: College strategy, building the nations youth, student entrepreneurship, campus of entrepreneurship, realizing the entrepreneurial campus, and mediator and facilitator.About the Author: Prof. Dr. H. Di dalam abad ke-21, penguasaan ilmu pengetahuan dan penerapan teknologi harus ditumbuhkan bersama dengan penghayatan terhadap ilmu-ilmu social dan humaniora untuk membangun kebudayaan yang utuh oleh seluruh anggota masyarakat. Tudingan miring yang tertuju kepada kita bahwa bangsa Indonesia seolah-olah telah kehilangan karakter, jatidiri, kepercayaan, dan gagap dalam menghadapi pertarungan antar bangsa harus ditepis dengan upaya menternakkan daya dorong kemajuan kedalam elan vital bangsa. Secara nyata, masa sekarang dan masa di depan kita terkembang oleh ekonomi beralaskan kekokohan sains dan penerapan teknologi. Dengan kata bersayap, kita harus membangun dan menstrukturkan kehidupan bangsa dan kebangsaan dengan tata harapan dan cita-cita agar mampu mengembangkan dan mengatur diri kita sendiri. Dengan sejujurnya kita perlu mengusung unggulan daya pikir dan kemampuan nalar pengetahuan bagi generasi muda kedalam sendi kehidupan, serta memilah sumber daya pembaharu sambil terus menafikan sikap semata-mata enggan menampung perubahan.  KATA KUNCI: Memijah ilmu, budaya dan karakter bangsa, etos kerja, sains dan teknologi, serta kemajuan dan kesejahteraan bangsa.ABSTRACT: A magnum opus of society will create culture. In the twenty first century, the mastery of science and application of technology should be developed together with the  social sciences and  humanities in order to achieve cultural values relevant to the society. Accusations that have been directed to us that Indonesian namely loosing our culural identities and  characters and harboring incompetency in the struggle of obtaining a better position among nations should be countered by our positive commitments to develop science-based economy. Abstract

ABSTRACT: Modernity has caused crises of meaning and value. The indictment for productivity, effectiveness and efficiency, material, and instant process is the main characteristic of modern life which has led to the fading of family educational meanings and social values. The development for spiritual intelligence program is expected to decrease the effects of those meaning and value crises. This paper tries to elaborate the roles of educational institution in facing the challenges of modernity in the era of globalization. The research focussed on the Primary School of Al-Azhar Syifa Budi Parahyangan in West Bandung Regency, West Java, Indonesia that has developed a school program named “Mumtaz” School. This program consists of 15 activities relating to the indicators for students’ spiritual intelligence, which are the ability to draw meaning from an event, the willingness to serve in religious activities, expression of gratitude, the ability to develop social values, the implementation of good deeds, finding and determining life goals, honesty, and patience. Advanced spiritual intelligence will result a noble character of students who serve God, perform social responsibity to themselves, people, and their surroundings. Finally, all stakeholders are responsible to build several characters related to spiritual intelligence, namely politeness, happiness, humbleness, respect, spirit, and discipline.KEY WORD: School programs, spiritual quotient, modernity, moral crisis, primary school, teaching-learning process, and nobility values.IKHTISAR: Artikel ini berjudul “Pengembangan Program Sekolah untuk Mendorong Kecerdasan Spiritual Siswa”. Modernitas telah menyebabkan krisis makna dan nilai. Tuntutan terhadap produktivitas, efektivitas dan efisiensi, kekayaan materi, dan proses instan adalah ciri utama kehidupan modern yang telah menyebabkan pudarnya makna pendidikan dalam keluarga dan nilai-nilai sosial. Pengembangan program kecerdasan spiritual diharapkan dapat mengurangi dampak yang timbul dari krisis makna dan nilai tersebut. Tulisan ini mencoba untuk menguraikan peran lembaga pendidikan dalam menghadapi tantangan modernitas di era globalisasi. Penelitian ini difokuskan pada Sekolah Dasar Al-Azhar Syifa Budi Parahyangan di Kabupaten Bandung Barat, Jawa Barat, Indonesia yang telah mengembangkan program sekolah bernama Sekolah “Mumtaz”. Program ini terdiri dari 15 kegiatan yang berhubungan dengan indikator kecerdasan spiritual siswa, yang berkemampuan untuk menarik makna dari suatu peristiwa, kesediaan untuk melayani dalam kegiatan keagamaan, ungkapan rasa syukur, kemampuan untuk mengembangkan nilai-nilai sosial, melakukan perbuatan baik, menemukan dan menentukan tujuan hidup, kejujuran, dan kesabaran. Kecerdasan spiritual selanjutnya akan menghasilkan akhlak mulia siswa yang bertakwa kepada Allah, mampu melakukan tanggung jawab sosial untuk diri mereka sendiri, orang lain, dan lingkungan mereka. Abstract

IKHTISAR: Studi ini berkenaan dengan perkembangan tarik-ulur antara identitas nasional dan budaya global, khususnya diantara generasi muda Indonesia. Sekolah, sebagai lembaga formal yang didirikan oleh pemerintah, memainkan peranan penting dalam mentransformasikan nilai-nilai budaya lokal kepada para siswa sebagai generasi muda. Studi ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan menggunakan pendekatan etnografi. Hal ini bermaksud untuk menggali dan mengumpulkan data tentang nilai-nilai budaya dan agama dari para siswa SMA (Sekolah Menengah Atas) di Banten. Data dikumpulkan melalui dua instrumen utama: (1) Wawancara dengan para siswa, guru, dan kepala sekolah dari tiga SMA yang berbeda di Banten; serta (2) Observasi terhadap pembelajaran sejarah di kelas dan kegiatan ekstrakulikuler. Hasil studi menunjukkan bahwa dalam kenyataannya sekolah telah memasukan materi tentang nilai-nilai religi dan budaya lokal dalam proses pembelajaran sejarah. Para siswa juga masih memegang erat tradisi mereka tentang nilai-nilai budaya dan agama Islam di Banten. Hal ini penting dalam pembentukan karakter para siswa dalam kehidupan mereka sehari-hari.KATA KUNCI: Transformasi pembelajaran sejarah, basis nilai-nilai religi dan budaya, serta siswa SMA di Banten.ABSTRACT: This study is concerning on the growing tension between national identity and global culture, especially among the young people in Indonesia. Schools, as formal institutions developed by the government, are considered to play a crucial role in transforming the local cultural values to the students as young generation. This study is a qualitative research by using the ethnographic approach. It is aimed to collect and investigate the data of cultural and religious values among senior high school students in Banten. Data are collected through two main instruments: (1) Interviews with the students, teachers, and headmasters of three different senior high schools in Banten; and (2) Observations of history classes and extracurricular activities. The results show that the schools have actually inserted the contents of religious and local cultural values in the history teaching. Students still also abide their traditions that are deeply rooted on the values of Islam and Banten culture.
