Abstract

In this study, some linear PDEs and nonlinear PDEs are investigated using the homotopy perturbation method (HPM). The primary objective of this research is to employ the HPM as a tool for investigating a range of PDEs and extracting their analytical solutions. To clarify the practicality and efficacy of this method, we present illustrative examples of linear PDEs encompassing the classical heat, wave, and Laplace equations. Subsequently, a comparative analysis is performed, contrasting the outcomes derived from the HPM with established accurate solutions. Through this comparative approach, we aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of the HPM's applicability, robustness, and precision in solving a spectrum of PDEs. Our study contributes to the broader exploration of innovative mathematical techniques for tackling complex PDEs, while also shedding light on the potential advantages and limitations of the homotopy perturbation method in practical applications.

Abstract

Every day, enormous complex geometric data are accumulating rapidly, and qualitative analysis is needed, which cannot be done properly without studying the shapes of those data. Persistent homology describes the homology of data sets of arbitrary size, producing state-of-the art results in data analysis across a significant number of fields and sparking a rigorous study of persistence in homology theory. In this study, persistent homology has been demonstrated as a homology theory by satisfying the Eilenberg-Steenrod axioms. A brief background on persistent homology groups has been written to understand their construction. Then other definitions of persistent homology based on functors and graded modules have also been reviewed. The Mayer-Vietoris-Vietorisfor persistent homology has been derived as a property of persistent homology. Subsequently, a long, exact sequence for persistent homology has been constructed. Furthermore, the stability of persistent homology has been examined carefully. Finally, the Diamond principle of persistent homology has been explained briefly. This study can be used to investigate new properties of persistent homology, among other benefits.

Abstract

This study was influenced by the low mathematical communication of students due to the learning system that still uses the traditional system. The application of the problem-based learning (PBL) model is very important. This research is based on a quantitative approach using a quasi-experimental type with a planning framework of a non-equivalent control group design and a post-test only. The population of this study was VIII-grade students at SMPIT AT-Taufiq in the 2022–2023 school year. The sample consisted of 26 students who received treatment (experimental class) and 25 students who did not receive treatment (control class). The information storage strategy is carried out using a written mathematical communication ability test tool of 7 questions with 3 indicators. The Mann-Whitney U test was used for hypothesis testing, and data analysis strategy was used to determine the effect of the problem-based learning (PBL) model on communication skills using effect size. This study resulted in a significance value of 0.000 <0.05, with 87% in the high category. Students who received the problem-based learning (PBL) treatment had a mean score of 88 compared to 75 for students who did not receive the treatment. In this study, we found that problem-based learning (PBL) for materials has an impact on the competence of the problem-based learning (PBL) model on students' mathematical communication skills.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the improvement in learning outcomes of the Greatest Common Divisor (GCD) and Lowest Common Multiple (LCM) by developing the Safari Numbered Model (SNM). Further, the activeness of students was also measured. The method used in this study was a quasi-experimental. Data collection was carried out using a test instrument to obtain students' mathematics learning outcomes and a questionnaire to measure the activeness of the students. Data analysis is carried out using the Kolmogorov-Smirnov (KS) test and a two-way ANOVA statistical test. Based on the results of the research, it can be concluded that the implementation of SNM can improve the learning outcomes in GCD and LCM. But the student’s activeness does not affect learning outcomes because the student has been active since the beginning of the lesson.

Abstract

The exponential growth of online transactions in Indonesia has intensified the competition among courier service providers to ensure efficient goods delivery, prompting the need for exceptional performance. However, this surge has also brought forth various challenges, including imbalanced courier allocation, intricate delivery routes, and sprawling coverage areas, resulting in delays and extended working hours for couriers. This research, conducted in Jakarta, centers on a logistics and courier service company grappling with a critical courier shortage, leading to overburdened personnel and extended work hours. To address this issue, we employed graph coloring, rooted in graph theory, as a novel approach to determine the ideal number of couriers based on the route and delivery area. Through graph coloring, delivery routes, and areas can be optimized so that each courier has the same average route length and area and does not exceed the threshold limit set by the company. The number of delivery routes and areas generated from graph coloring shows the number of couriers required for the company. The results of this research obtained 27 routes that show the need for the ideal courier frequency so that the delivery of goods can be on time without extending the courier's working hours.

Abstract

Indonesia is renowned as a maritime nation, positioned amidst the Pacific Ocean and the Indian Ocean. This strategic location grants Indonesia the distinct advantage of serving as a global crossroads for maritime traffic, particularly with regards to trade and waterborne transportation. Among Indonesia's bustling ports, Tanjung Priok Port stands out as one of the busiest. In this context, the measurement of seawater wave height assumes a pivotal role in shaping the dynamics of transportation and commercial activities at Tanjung Priok Port. Hence, the availability of predictive insights into forthcoming seawater wave height assumes paramount significance in proactively addressing potential calamities and orchestrating maritime endeavors more efficaciously. This study aims to apply the Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA) technique to forecast the wave height of seawater at Tanjung Priok Port. The dataset employed encompasses the daily seawater wave height observations recorded at Tanjung Priok Harbor during the timeframe from January 2022 to May 2023. The findings of this research unveil a parameter value of L = 98, a Grouping Effect (r) of 13, and a Mean Absolute Percentage Error (MAPE) value of 10.01%. This MAPE value signifies that the forecasting yielded by the Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA) methodology exhibits a satisfactory level of accuracy in prognosticating future seawater wave heights at Tanjung Priok Port.
