Abstract

The coastline is the boundary between land and sea water whose position is always changing dynamically. Changes in coastlines are caused by disturbances to sediment transport along onshore, reduced sediment supply, disturbances of buildings, and low condition of the cliffs therefore they can’t cover the waves (Ministry of Public Works and Housing, 2015). The purpose of this study is to determine the response of the coastline after the construction of detached breakwater structure on the north coast of Bengkalis Island. Sentinel-2 imagery data used in this study and then analyzed using the Digital Shorelines Analysis System (DSAS) tool. The results of the analysis show that there are have variations of the shoreline response to the structures that have been built. In the period 2016 – 2022 the coastline hase changes, both accretion and abrasion. The maximum change in the forward coastline is 189.09 meters long with an accretion rate of 30.5 meters/year. While the maximum change in the backward coastline is 144.56 meters long with an abrasion rate of 23.32 meters/year. Overall, the construction of detached breakwaters has a positive impact on the coastline, thus increasing the land area on the north coast of Bengkalis Island.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain information and analyze the law regarding the ownership of legal firearms that are misused by others. Using the approach method in this study is a normative juridical approach. The widespread spread of firearms among civilians is a global phenomenon. The lack of supervision of firearm ownership, both legal and illegal owned by the general public, police and TNI, is one of the causes of crimes with misuse of firearms in Indonesia. While the victims who died as a result of this crime were mostly civilians. In Indonesia, exact figures on the trade in firearms, legal or illegal, are difficult to obtain, although their circulation in civil society is certain to increase sharply. Due to the lack of order and supervision of firearm administration, police officers do not know for sure how many firearms are circulating in the community, making firearm ownership very difficult to trace. The circulation of firearms will certainly cause unrest in the community, considering that firearms are very dangerous. The use of firearms is legal alias licensed as owned by members of the police, TNI, agencies / agencies and the general public. But there are also illegal alias unlicensed, unlawful and very potentially used for crime. The use of legal firearms in practice is inseparable from various problems, in addition to unscrupulous officers who misuse their firearms, there are also people who have firearm permits who violate the rules, such as for criminal acts.

Abstract

The occurrence of financial distress or a continuous decline in the Company's financial performance within a certain period of time can occur due to several factors. The occurrence of the COVID-19 pandemic directly or indirectly also has a significant impact on the business operations of a Company. During a pandemic, things that happen within the company are thought to also affect the occurrence of financial distress. This study aims to analyze factors in the company's internal to the risk of financial distress. The research method used is descriptive with a quantitative approach to property and real estate sector companies listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange (IDX) in 2020-2022. Based on these criteria, the calculation of the number of samples used in this study was 14 companies. The results showed that partially independent variables of liquidity, leverage and cash flow had a positive influence on the risk of financial distress, while profitability variables did not have an influence on the risk of financial distress. However, simultaneously the four independent variables in this study have a significant influence on the risk of financial distress during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Abstract

The pursuit of bioactive compounds from natural sources for potential pharmaceutical and therapeutic applications remains a prominent focus of scientific investigation. Among the myriad of botanical treasures, M. calabura, colloquially known as the Jamaican cherry or strawberry tree, stands as an intriguing candidate, owing to its extensive historical utilization in folk medicine across diverse cultures. This study aimed to comprehensively characterize the bioactive compound profile of M. calabura leaves by employing a spectrum of solvents with varying polarities for extraction. The choice of solvent during extraction plays a pivotal role in determining both the types and quantities of compounds obtained from plant material. Our methodology encompassed cutting-edge analytical techniques, notably gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), to unravel the intricate chemical composition of the extracts derived from M. calabura leaves. Moreover, we scrutinized the potential influence of solvent polarity on extraction efficiency and subsequent bioactivity of the isolated compounds. Our findings underscore the profound impact of solvent selection on the repertoire of bioactive compounds extracted from M. calabura leaves. Polar solvents exhibited a proclivity for extracting compounds of higher polarity, while non-polar solvents favored the extraction of less polar constituents. The identification of prominent bioactive compounds within these extracts encompassed delta-tocopherol, 7-(γ,γ-dimethylallyloxy)flavanone, Wogonin, Neophytadiene, Octadecanoic acid, and Hexatriacontane, each with its own distinctive pharmacological significance. This study thus illuminates the critical role of solvent polarity in optimizing extraction processes and maximizing the therapeutic potential of M. calabura. The insights gleaned from this investigation not only contribute to our understanding of natural product chemistry but also hold the promise of inspiring the development of novel pharmaceutical agents and therapeutic interventions with wide-ranging applications.

Abstract

This study aims to obtain information and analyze the law regarding legal protection for witnesses based on Law no. 31 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law no. 13 of 2006 concerning the Protection of Witnesses and Victims. By using the approach method in this research is a normative juridical approach. The Witness and Victim Protection Agency (LPSK) is considered important, because the wider community views that it is time for witnesses and victims to be given protection in the justice system. The role of witnesses and victims in every trial of criminal cases is very important because often witness statements can influence and determine the tendency of judges' decisions. As an institution that was born with the main task of providing protection for witnesses and victims, LPSK has shown a track record, which, although still small, has been praised by various parties. Several protections are carried out for witnesses and victims in serious cases, from which protection then contributes to upholding the law in order to achieve justice. Law Number 31 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 13 of 2006 concerning Protection of Witnesses and Victims, in Article 1 point 3 states that: “Victims are people who suffer physical, mental and/or economic losses caused by a criminal act. Law Number 31 of 2014 concerning Amendments to Law Number 13 of 2006 concerning Protection of Witnesses and Victims, in Article 1 point 3 states that: "Victims are people who suffer physical, mental and/or economic losses caused by a criminal act.

Abstract

The institution appointed to tackle crimes or violations that occur in the community is the police agency. As stated in the criminal procedure code (KUHAP), the police agency is given the authority to conduct investigations. The investigation process is carried out on the suspects who are suspected of having committed a criminal act that occurred. In an effort to prove that a person is suspected of having committed a criminal act, law enforcement officials must pay attention to the rights of suspects as stipulated in applicable law. Based on the above, the problem that will be discussed in this writing is about what rights are obtained by suspects according to the Criminal Procedure Code and Human Rights as a manifestation of protecting dignity and dignity as human beings. As for the research method used is a normative research method which of course focuses on literature research to obtain secondary data from legal materials. The normative approach is carried out by reviewing the provisions or applicable laws and regulations. The results of the study that the rights of suspects in the Criminal Justice System in Indonesia have officially received legal recognition as stipulated in Law Number 39 of 1999 concerning Human Rights and Law Number 8 of 1981 concerning Criminal Procedure Law known as the Code of Criminal Procedure (KUHAP) as respect as a complete human being, who has dignity and dignity.
