Abstract

Dual Response Surface (DRS) with Lagrange multiplier is one of the most familiar classical multi response surface methods. Classical DRS optimization doesn't concern about the quality characteristic of responses. In this paper, fuzzy approach is proposed for modeling DRS and quality characteristic of response simultaneously. The proposed method represented the object's quality characteristic physically. The proposed method is applied to composite carbon drilling process and resulting nonlinear function that to be determined its optimal point. Many optimization methods fail to reach global optimum point because the non linear function is multimodal. Therefore, we used genetic algorithm for finding the global optimum point.

Abstract

Quality optimization of cooking oil color is done by performing experiment using samples of 98 gram cooking oil and 2 gram of whitening agent, i.e. bleaching earth and carbon active. There are three variables that affects the cooking oil color, i.e. temperature (X1) in the range of 90 to 110° C, stirring time of 10 to 20 minutes, and active carbon concentration (X3) of 5 to 15% (of the 2 gram of whitening agent). Response Surface Method consists of two-experiment designs, the first order and the second order experiment designs. The first order experiment design is the factor screening stage, while the second order design is the optimization stage. The first order experiment shew that only stirring time and the concentration of active carbon affects the color. The second order experiment resulted in that the appropriate optimization model is Y = 1,7833 + 0,0538 X2 0,1098 X3 + 0,0477 X2 X3 + e, and that there are three choices of optimal factor condition with regards of the whitening agent cost. Abstract

This research aims to determine the amount and mixture composition of vessels in short sea shipping (SSS) operation in Java. SSS in Java is proposed to mitigate the surface transportation problem and move freight off the overcrowded North-Coast highways and rail systems onto the waterways. A mathematical model based on non-linear integer programming was developed to calculate the amount and the composition mix of vessels required for the proposed system. The model was solved by Lingo software and the computational results reveal that the proposed system would require daily shipment using 1 unit of type B vessel and 1 unit of type C vessel. The calculation results also show that the SSS in Java would require 6 vessels to operate. Overall, the model and the obtained solutions in this paper provide an alternative to raise awareness of short sea shipping’s potential with the government, logistic companies, and executive policymakers. Finally, this paper also contribute to research of maritime fleet size and mix problems.

Abstract

This paper proposes the development of assembly sequence generation method for non sheet metal mechanical product which assembled by using orthogonal multi-axial orientation. The proposed method, removes exploded view generation, liaison diagram generation, manually precedence analysis and precedence relation generation step by using the main information from each steps i.e. mating, volume, and mating location point of contacted components on the final assembly. These information are used as component selection priority rule and can be extracted directly from CAD data base. Assembly sequence is generated by using 3D solid model as input in the form of stacked drawing. Feasibility of assembly sequence is performed by considering components and sub-assembly stability in assembly process, geometrical constraint, accessibility and fasteners. The proposed method is examined by using Bench Vice and provides a fisible assembly sequence as a result. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia: Makalah ini menjelaskan pengembangan metode penentuan urutan perakitan produk mekanik non sheet metal dengan orientasi perakitan multiaksial ortogonal.

Abstract

This study uses a hybrid scale to identify the factors contributing to the services delivered by the suppliers working with SME units in Indian setting. Application of EFA, CFA followed by GTA brings out a numerical measure of service quality index. 120 executives working at top/middle management levels in different SMEs of northern India responded to a questionnaire survey related to the assessment of services being delivered by their suppliers. The executives evaluated performance of their suppliers on the 1-5 Likert scale. Application of EFA followed by CFA revealed an interpretable latent structure comprising of five factors viz., Credibility, Relationship, Understanding, Alignment, and Dependability with 17 indicator items. Further, application of GTA resulted in an index value of Supplier Service Quality. This paper thus provides a framework for the measurement of SSQ in a previously less explored manufacturing sector. The proposed scale can be used as a benchmark by SME units for evaluation of supplier service quality. This methodology used may be applied in more such situations so that generalizations can be contemplated.

Abstract

In this paper, we consider fuzzy inventory of crude palm oil. First, we determined the demand and imperfect product quality as triangular fuzzy numbers to obtain the fuzzy inventory total cost. Secondly, using the signed distance method to defuzzify, we get the estimate of the total cost in the fuzzy sense. Moreover, we also developed the economic production quantity (EPQ) as the initial formulation. The result of study can be stated as follows: if the level of demand risk is increased then the order will also be increased, while if the level of quality risk is increased then the order will be decreased. Additionally, the quality risk factor model is successfully applied in the inventory control of crude palm in harbor storage. Abstract in Bahasa Indonesia: Makalah ini menjelaskan sebuah model persediaan minyak sawit kasar menggunakan logika fuzzy. Abstract

Crude-Palm-Oil (CPO) is an agro-industrial commodity which has a strategic value to be developed for Indonesian economy and social welfare. Production and export of Indonesian CPO increase progressively in the view years so that CPO is one of the pre-eminent products of Indonesia. On the other hand, however, they could give two negative impacts. First, a less CPO supply for domestic market as a result of export growing. Second, a worse environment as an effect of the opening new palm plantations. We, therefore, construct and simulate the system model for analyzing the relationships between the components and for describing their behaviour within the supply chain of CPO by using a dynamic model. The result shows that in the next 30 years, the revenue of Indonesian CPO industries tends to increase. The biggest revenue will be achieved in the year 23rd. The maximum addition of plantation employees is in the year 7th as well as in the year 17th. Deforestation would be the highest in the year 7th and 17th in which 2008 as a basic year.
